Maximus pov
Looking to my father for help with my mother. I know it’s a big deal when you find your mate but I didn’t know how excited my mother would get when I found my mate. Thankfully my father saw my plea. “Chelle love let’s give the kids some space to breathe. You know it looks like our son has not eaten in a while look at you all skin and bones.” A little white lie that works on all moms. With a gasp, she looks us over “oh no your right dear. Maxy, I’m gonna head home and start dinner for you all. Jas come on over your mother is in court and Kav is well I don’t know where Kav is. Once you get cleared come on up okay.” Not waiting around for answers she went heading down the hall back to the stairs. With a chuckle, my father shakes his head.
“Don't be too hard on your mother she just realized rose might not be staying in the pack. She still hasn’t found her mate but the empty nest syndrome is already starting. You bringing home. Mate means she could have grandpups soon-ish.” Snapping my eyes at my father who only smirks at me. I can feel the stiffening in fallen as we walk. I know from the short time together she wants pups but it’s a sad subject as well. Being the last of anything has to be a huge weight in itself. I do wish there was a way to ensure we had at least one bear cub if not all our pups being bears. I would give that to her just to fix the crack in her heart.
Pulling her close I kiss the top of her head when I hear a chuckle from behind me. “look at that the boy follows his dad whipped already.” Delta mate William laughs out. I want to say something back but one look at Fallen's scared face has me smiling down at her. “just ignore delta mate William he thinks he’s funny.” Her small smile was all I needed. Kaleb starts groaning. “okay what the hell happened to my son.” Looking at Jas she shakes her head. Oh sure tough as nails Jas doesn’t want to go ahead to head with William. Okay, I don’t either I’m not looking for extra drills to run.
“Well, sir master Ambrose called it a bond fracture. But said it was fixed but he had to be kept asleep for a while so he’s kind of regaining blood flow well the spells kept them weak so that didn’t help. But master Ambrose said he will have a full recovery.” Fallen rushes out. Rubbing my hand down her arm I snag the wrist skin touching skin I almost forgot how to walk. A slight push on my back has me looking back. “that feeling only gets better soon but go slow.” My father links. I nod. Coming to the elevators fallen gasps and looks around. “how” she pulls from me rushing to the button panel. Pushing the button the soft ding letting us know the car is is before the doors slide open. She looks like a pup on Christmas day. “okay do only goes down how far down does this go. Why? Does everyone have access to this like the whole pack can come and go?” it’s then I realized I didn’t tell her about the pack house. “well of course how else they suppose to get home!” delta met William laughs out. Rolling my eyes “ we all live here in one big pack house den. The house was built down not up. Keeps the pack safe and frees the land for the herds.” Her eyes were wide with excitement “I promise to show you everything, once we have been checked out.” Grabbing my hand and bringing it to her chest I forgot how to breathe.
Before I had another thought we were standing in the clinic waiting room. Doctor Locke arrived soon after we had. “okay set up a long-term room for future delta Kaleb hook him up for fluids start with a 30% solution. Draw blood for standard panels include enough for the spell checker test Ambrose developed. As for the rest just exam rooms and again draw blood from them.” Fallen almost moves behind me hiding. Doctor Locke links me “mate?” I nod “keep future beta Maximus and the girl together.” “fallen” I supply. Dr. Locke smiles and nods. Following the nurses, to the rooms, I can hear William barking orders to be careful with his pup.
“thank you” Fallen's small voice reaches my ears looking down I pull her to me “always I will always be there for you I promise.” The relief I see in her eyes has me stopping and pulling her in my arms. Her arms wrap around my waist as I hug her to me.
I want to say we’re in and out of the clinic but no we were there for hours days even. Okay, maybe not days but still. Once given the okay to leave but not before we all had to drink this sludge-looking oily stuff. It tasted as bad as it looked if it has smelled I wouldn’t have been able to drink it. A warm fuzzy feeling follows it down my throat to my stomach. A small dizzy spell had me stabbing the wall for support. Once cleared I felt the heaviness I hadn’t noticed before lifting. Rolling my shoulders I look at fallen doing the same only now she looks to have a glow about her I didn’t notice before. The light catches her eyes and hair and it’s like stars. Her pale white blue eyes look like the calm sea that surrounds the border of the snowpack lands. The full force of a snowpack shine now in place. I had heard that they look like snow spirits and now I know why. My mate is the most breathe taking beautiful being I have ever seen. My father’s gasp broke me free of my stupor.
“Wow. Your mother is.. oh dear you are a wonder to take in Chelle is going to oh no sweetie please remember my mate loves you already being mated to her baby but your glow is going to make my mate melt. Some of her favorite bedtime stories to read to the kids were about fairies and pixies and how they glowed in the light. You are gonna be like those stories walked off the pages.” My father rambles. She looks at us confused.
“did you know you glow like snow under the moonlight?” I ask her she shakes her head looking at her hand confused. It’s like she can’t see it. “that’s because she can’t young black. Awe young or should I say old Tyler now.” Ambrose's voice fills the Ir behind us. “ I thought you were with Enoy?” “she's napping and I have things to tend to before I can be locked away for who knows how long. I wanted to check on things with the bear and fox. Here both you and your mate need to drink this don’t ask just do.” Setting two vials in my hand and poof went again. Looking at the vials than the now empty air.
“Whatever it is it’s only to help trust me Ambrose is odd but he loves this pack and everyone in it. If he wants you to drink that it’s for a good reason “ my father reasons with me. Nodding I hand one to fallen “together?” she nods we open it and shoot them back fast last time the thing he made me drink tasted like rotten fish. Fallen followed suit coughing a little before a warm feeling washes over me I know fallen felt the same when she smiled at me.
