Chapter 54

Following the young girl out of the lobby to a small seating area where they serve breakfast in the mornings. She takes a seat in a chair and I slid in across from her. Pulling out the chair next to me for Artemis. She slowly takes a seat with her head still bowed down. James, I can smell it at the door. “so Klara, what is your story?” keeping it casual. I don’t want to scare the young she-wolf by demanding answers. She glances over my shoulder before she drops her shoulders and begins her tale.

“well as you can tell I am not human nor are my parents or well adoptive parents. They own this way-station. My mother is half human half deva. My father is human. My mother was raised by her mother a deva and her colony. My mother taking after her human father mostly cant shift from human to deva like the rest. She became a guardian of the colony as she got older. She met my father when she was in her late teens. They fell in love and after several years she and her colony finally told him about them. It was then that they found out that my father could not have children of his own. Broken he told my mother she was free to leave him with no ill feelings so that she could have offspring. She wouldn't have it and stayed with him. One day while on a walk one of the young deva’s found me. They had been playing and practicing shifting from human to deva.” taking a breath before getting up and walking to the small breakfast bar. She reaches under the counter and takes out a couple of bottles of water coming back to the table.

Taking a sip before she continues her tale. “several of the elders searched for days to find my parents. After a week they were losing hope of finding my parents when my grandmother found the body of a young she-wolf dead with her torso ripped open. Her throat had been slashed and signs of having a pup ripped from her all around. Close by they found more wolves. What looked like a small pack had been slaughtered. They all looked like they had seen better days before their ends. They were beaten and bloody. All ages were thrown about. From what they were told it was a scene out of a horror movie. The odd part was they said they didn’t find many young she-wolves with them. So I was taken in as a foundling and raised by my mother and father. Being that I was a wolf and they were mostly human the colony thought it best they raise me. So they started this way-station far from where I was found and the slaughter took place. The whole colony moving here. And that's about it. I know I am a wolf and I know I should be part of a pack. But well I grew up with deva’s and I didn’t want to lose them. So I never looked for a pack.” nodding looking around.

“well since you are mated to one of my warriors I am going to assume he will want you to come home with him. I won't force you to come and I won't force you to stay. What I will offer you is a place in the pack and your freedom to have your colony. They can stay here or move closer to the pack. We currently have a couple of different fae races in the pack as it is. My delta or fourth in command his mother was raised by a wood nymph. Her grove is close to our borders. Also in the pack, there are wolves with some fae blood. I offer you this before you consider rejecting James. He's a good guy who will cherish you. I would in normal situations allow my warrior to stay or go with their mate. But your not a wolf pack and I don’t want to lose him as a warrior.” she smiles and nods again glancing over my shoulder.

“alright, Klara let your colony know what my offer is I will allow James three days off once my beta arrives so you two can figure out and plan your next step.” getting up smiling at a stunned Klara and Artemis. Smirking I turn around nod to James and walk out of the room. Heading to the front of the building to wait for Ty to get here with the SUV.

Maybe two minutes later the door opens behind me and Artemis walks out. “did you mean everything you told her? Like you're not gonna order him to reject the rogue?” “she's not a rogue. You heard her she's a foundling. She was never in a pack from the sounds of it. Being ripped from her mother before her first breath. So why would I cause her more harm?” staring out at the night sky counting starts. She's quiet for a long time before she speaks again. “why?” is all she says before the black SUV pulls up. Ty hops out once he's parked. “Ty drives the princess back to the pack. The team will follow. James will be staying here for three days on personal leave. I'll meet you back at home.” he nods and I walk away leaving her to stare after me. Linking him as I shift tearing my clothes to shreds as I leap for the tree line. “I caused some damage inside pay for the repairs before you leave.” “you got it man see you back at home and I expect details.” cutting the link I sprint through the trees slowly making my way home.

I had gone there to hash things out with her but after feeling the fight in her I knew fighting yelling and letting emotions take over was not gonna win me any points. So making her see a real pack and maybe letting her find some safety will help her to change her mind about rejecting me.
