Kavin pov
I know I should be happy for my friends but fuck man when will I get my mate. I mean come to the fuck on fucking Ambrose made it so Ty could be with his mate early and here I am alone getting ready for dinner with the smiths. I could have said no but I feel that would be spitting in my father's face. Every year on this night we all meet to remember Ethan. Ethan is Evan's twin brother and my father's first mate. No one knows what really happened to Ethan he just disappeared one day then my father said he felt the bond break but he didn’t have time to feel it or deal with it then Luna went into labor with Phil and that was its own shit show. Then my mother showed up in the middle of two vans full of refugee wolves alpha William sent here. The bond snapped in place when my father laid eyes on my mother. So since then my father and mother met at least once a month with the smiths. As I grew older I wasn’t required to join and I couldn’t wait until I no longer had to be around them and their pup their daughter Reena the biggest reason I wanted away from them all.
So why am I getting ready to have dinner with them two reasons it's Ethan's birthday and we still meet for birthdays and stupid Reena is coming home from college. She will be taking a position at the Samuels law firm. She just passed the bar. So it's a big deal and as much as she annoys me she's still family. So picking up the box with the locket I got for her I head out. My wolf has been on edge the last few days and I can't blame him for everything going on. When I make it to the smith's door I knock half hoping they forgot about tonight's dinner with everything going on but to my horror, Mrs. Smith answered the door. “oh Kavin honey I am so glad you still came Reena is running late you know she-wolves.” she says as she pulls me into a hug. Okay, so I have a feeling I would still be friends with Annalyse smith even if my father had not been mated to her mate's brother. She's one of the kindest she-wolves around. She has been working in the nursery and daycare since she was sixteen. After her youngest was born ten years ago she told Evan no more. Who could blame her with five pups running around?
“come on sweet boy let's get you a drink shall we?” she asks as we head in. “Kavin!” the youngest smith yells flying over the couch at me. Being the gamma of the pack I am not slow so I grab him in mid-air and flip him over grabbing his ankles. Raising him up so we are eye to eye. “getting faster Ethan. If you keep it up your fathers gonna have to fight you for his spot as a top warrior.” his laughter fills the air. Dropping him on the couch just as the scent of apple pie hits my nose. Spinning just like the most beautiful brown-haired brown-eyed she-wolf I have ever seen. The second our eyes meet we both whisper out mine. Just staring. Ethan yells for his parents breaking the spell the both of us rush toward each other. Ethan rushes to get between us when she pushes him out of the way. My hands came to her cheeks as her fist into my shirt. “Reena” I breathe out as she whispers “Kavin” the world around us disappeared and it was just me and her. The sparks climbed up my arms from touching her face. Her scent alone causes the world to melt around me. Her hands snake up my chest to my neck as my hands slide to the back of her neck pulling her up to me as she pushes into me. My lips are a breath away from her lips when I hear Mrs. Smith enter the room her gasp is the last thing I hear before my world explodes as my lips meet her.
Reena’s small frame molds into me pulling me to her as she moans against my lips. I couldn’t keep the loud purr from causing my chest to rumble. As the kiss breaks my sense start to come back. As I look her in the eyes I open my mouth to say something when snaps begin in my chest and screams in the pack mind link. Taking my breath away. Snapping my eyes to the door one second before everything went black.
Wake up to screaming and crying. Groaning feeling the sparks running through my hair. Opening my eyes I see worried eyes of Reena looking back at me. Tears streamed down her face. Sitting up rubbing the back of my head. Looking around all the smiths are coming as well. Looking back at Reena I see the red marks on her face. Jumping to her running my fingers over the mark “what happened?” I ask “I don’t know you all dropped to the ground like you were all dead. Then some weird smoke thing appeared and grabbed Ethan I tried to pull him back but it stuck me. Sending me flying across the room. Then the smoke and Ethan disappeared just as fast as it appeared.” she cries. Pulling her to me I try and link Phil and nothing. So I try Ty again nothing. “you know where my rooms are?” she nods “take everyone to my rooms and stay there set them up however as it will be your suite now as well. Take whatever you and they need I will be back I have to find Phil and Ty.” she nods leaning down I kiss her deeply making promises with my lips I hope to keep later tonight. “be careful I just found you.” she whispers out
