Chapter 18
The castle is quiet but I can’t sleep. This Loki guy might have answers so I head back down that room. We left the door open when we left. I can hear him talking to someone. “First I need a body if what that mutt said is true my body is destroyed. I need a hybrid body. Yes yes, what hybrids are still here I wonder?”
Stepping into the room “who are you talking to?” “Why?” “Fine, then I’ll shut the door and lock this room away again.” Shrugging I turn to leave. “Myself or well my wolf. Why does it matter?” “To answer your question there are no hybrids here. So now tell me where is the alpha's office?” “as the alpha I’m sure you are aware of where your office is “ he huffs. “humor me.” “fine but I am done with these tests. It’s off of the throne room. The door is directly behind the throne.” Smiling at him I just stare. There is no door in the room where he described it. He just stares at me. Smirking I turn to leave.
“on the first floor the room down the hall on the left. That’s the front office. In the closet, there is a false door for the alpha's private offices.” Nodding I stop and turn back. “your mother and father fleas the pack when you were killed according to the records. That was seventeen years ago. No one has seen them since.” “Okay, then what happened to Renee and wren?” “Who?” “the crimson river’s heir and twin sister. They were taken to the dungeon by me before I was murdered I guess. Where are they?” “We don’t use the dungeons s they have been locked since my father took over as acting alpha after my mother died.” “you left them to starve to death and you say Azazel is a monster.” “what no there are no records that anyone was down there and there was no one down there when my father sealed the door.” “Are you sure?”
Stopping to think I don’t know for sure as I was not old enough to check myself at the time. “well it wouldn’t matter at this point what is don’t is done.” “so you would leave the alpha of the crimson river to wonder where their alpha went? And you say you are not cruel.” “I don’t know who you think you are but this pack would never torture someone.” I sneer. An evil grin stretches across his face. “are you sure princess?” he then turns his back on me as does the wolf. “those who live in a glass house.” He says “what?” “I am bored of you kettle. Find what’s hidden to learn the truth don’t come back until you find what is hidden.”
“What do you mean?” he says nothing standing with his back to me. “why would I listen to you? You're not even real.” He still says nothing. Screw him. Storming out of the room I start for my room changing direction halfway. It won’t hurt to step into the room and just see how stupid I would have looked.
To my surprise, the hidden door is there. What I didn’t expect was to see a monitor on with a live feed to a room with a male and female in cells. Where are these cells? I can see they are talking when a young girl comes to view she walks with. Limp. She looks to be caring for the female. Looking for a switch for audio.
“I don’t know what to do it’s not like before she’s burning up this time.” The girl says. “I know honey but she will be fine she always is ain’t she?.” “you know how this goes love we go through this every month. Your mother will get through it.” “papa what did you and mama do to be locked in here like this.” I can hear the tears. “I wish I knew.” Was his answer.
Muting it I try and figure out where this is. Looking around it’s like a mad scientist lab in here. There are things in hard I don’t know what it is. There’s another jar with a head in it and it just blinked that’s normal. Yep totally normal. Nope, I’m out. Turning I bolt for the door. Getting back to the hall I tried and slow my breathing and heart down.
“dad, you awake?” I link “yes honey what’s up?” “Can you meet me at the entrance hall I need to show you something. “what is it?” “just come here now?” I growl cutting the link. I’m the alpha why do I have to explain myself for fucks sake he never had to. Stomping back and forth waiting for my father. “what is it that’s so important at this hour Athena?” “follow me?” I nod my head for him to follow. “you told me we had no one in the dungeon when you locked it, correct?” “you know the answer. What has gotten into you? Are you seeing things or hearing things?” “shut up. How are you sure the dungeon was empty?” “the guard checked every cell. Left them all open along with the door down there for a week no one fled.” Nodding I open the closet door. “what” “just follow me.” Walking in I click the button opening the false door. “what?” “there's more.” I point to the screen. “whaaaa” he steps forward as I stay at the door. “how did you find this and who are they and where are they?” he stammers out. “that’s a good question?”
“What do you mean? Athena, I’m serious where are they what is thissssss” his eyes widen as he looks around the room. “ya that’s what I am wondering.” I huff crossing my arms. “how did you find this room?” “Loki” I shrug he looks over his shoulder at me. “I might have tricked him into telling me where this was. Well, I didn’t know about this room until he told me this is where I will find answers to some questions. I think he meant it will add to my list of questions though” “I don’t like this”
