Chapter 13

Doctor Locke took our blood to run It for any abnormalities. While sitting at the dinner table talking about what to do and where Ty and I can hide out for the next week. We have a week left being enrolled at the academy. Father's phone rings and the room goes quiet. “alpha William Samuels” father answers the call on speaker. “alpha William this is alpha of alphas Zeus winters. I am calling to let you know there has been an accident. Your son and his beta were spending their off day in town. They signed out. When they didn’t return last night we sent out a search party for them. We found your son's truck totaled on the side of the road. We are still looking for your son and his beta.” “Where?” father demands looking at me with a raised brow. I just shrug. “an hour from the academy.” signing to my father -why were we so far from town? If we were in town?- he nods “alpha winters what were they doing so far from town. The closest town to the academy is a five-minute drive if I remember right?” all true but the town father is thinking about is mostly just a gas station/convenience store. Now that I think about it it's probably a lookout for the winters.

“oh, they went to the big mall. Their dorm mates said they were talking about meeting some girls.” raising a brow. Okay, he's good sounds like something I would do but all father did was glance at our hands and then laughed., “I assume you alpha winters my son and his beta would not be meeting with some random girls. And if they had found their mates I would know.” we can hear the frustration in the alpha of alpha's voice but he never lost his temper. “it's been four years alpha William are you sure you still know your son?” “true alpha I apologize you have a very good point. Would you like for me to join the search for them?” veins popping in his neck as he addresses alpha winters. If we were a cartoon father would have steam shooting from his ears. “there is no need we have it under control. If he reaches out to you or comes to you call me right away so I can bring him back to finish his training.” “yes alpha” and ended the call.

“he will have a search party coming here. Go to the former wing lock and seal the door like it's a lockdown. I will have Kevin and Jillian cover the wall with a temporary clay wall. I will have the cleaning crew scrub down the whole house with lavender and moon shadow pedal oil tonight. Then tomorrow we will have a special scavenger hunt for the pups. Open all the floors hiding plastic balls stuffed with goodies. Let them have run of the halls and things mixing the pack scents on all floors. Then when they show up to search in two days. They will be no trace of your scents anywhere in the house. You came in my truck so you left no scent trail here. And they already said they have your truck. I already had your truck sent to the off sight garage for the pack vehicles for the farm. When the week is up you can come back out and we can go from there. They want to play games let's see how good they are.”

An eerie silence falls over the room. Looking around I don’t see the twins and I am sure I told him he should call them home. “dad where are the twins?” I link him. Looking up at me with a sand look he links back “two years ago there was an explosion in the dorm room under theirs killing everyone in the building.” he links back. I stumble back pain in my chest. I may have wished them gone many times but I never meant it. The last time we saw each other was not left on good terms. I can feel tears start to form when I cough trying to gather myself. I nod my head. The only good thing about the spells we were under was I didn’t feel their bonds snap. My wolf howled in pain at the loss of our sisters. Squaring my shoulders nodding at my father.

I gather up my gym bag Micky had dropped off. Ty headed across the entryway to the beta wing to grab his before we took the back stairs to the wing. Heading down half a flight of stairs to the door that opens to the wing for the former leaders of the pack. Opening the door a wave of stale cold air blows out of the doorway. There is no scent of wolves here just the deep earthy scent that living underground gives off. Stepping in feeling the cold wash over us sending shivers through our bodies. That feeling of walking into a haunted house crawls over my skin. A ghost wing that's what this is. Turning the lights on it looks like a giant dorm. The center of the room is open with a sitting area with oversized couches and a box TV with knobs. The carpet looks like dead grass sticking all over the place some bent over. a field of bright gold and green speckled wall to wall. On the left side of the large area is a kitchen done in olive green and mustard yellow. When was this place decorated? Is that an aluminum and mica table with matching virginal chairs? Looking over at Ty raising my brow. “not the Hilton but it will do I guess.” he barks out a deep, contagious laugh. Laughing until we both have tears in our eyes. We needed that.

“well, it's been a while since someone lived on this floor. Linking father “so when you send someone to bring food here to last for the week we need laptops or something have you been in here ever?” I can feel the curiosity in the link from my father so I sent an image of what I am looking at. “if you wanted me in an early grave that almost did it. What was that?” I can still hear him choking in the link as it's wide open right now. “that is the former leader's floor. When was the last time anyone was down here? Boy, you have some work to do before you can move in.”
