Waking up to Cerberus snoring and kicking me in the gut. Rolling off my bed trying to catch my breath. My door burst open and in bounces Nyx. “Guess who’s here?” She sings excitedly. Shrugging I head to the bathroom. “Who?” “Grandpa?” “Zyaire is always here this time of year silly.” Lifting the toilet seat up “no stupid grandpa Jamie.” She huffs out. “really? Eydra let him travel?” “She was already coming and grandpa misses being here so he’s moving back.” She squeals.
If you haven’t guessed Nyx is everyone’s favorite by well everyone. “sweet he can tell us all about gramps William as a pup. Mom said he looks a lot like granddad Philip.” “duh I mean look at you, stupid. All the firstborn males look the same just with different eyes. So I was thinking.” “that’s dangerous.” “shut up jerk. Well, I was thinking Mars and the other water or ice elements could turn the training floor into a winter wonderland you know grandpa’s been down south for a few years. And it’s the winter festival soon.” She bats her eyes at me. “and you are bugging me about it because?” raising my brow at her. “well Mars may or may not be upset with me so he is not talking or listening to me right now.” She gives me her puppy dog eyes. “wheres the old man” “ammy is busy with Zyaire and I’m bored.” “so just take his magic and do it yourself.” “well” her cheeks turn pink.
“did Ambrose bind you?” “It wasn’t my fault. How was I supposed to know Mars was with a girl.” Barking I can’t stop laughing. “is she okay?” She nods and sticks her bottom lip out. “oh my goddess okay I’ll talk to Mars. What kind of wonderland do you want?” jumping at me and hugging me “thank you, thank you. Here.” She shoves a Christmas card in my hand with a frosty the snowman scene on it. “you’re the best big brother in the whole world.” “Remember that when Ambrose is the overseer.” “you know I have no say when it comes to that.” She huffs and I laugh “sure” “NYX!!!!” Ares's angry voice fills the suite. “I didn’t do it.” She yelps and runs out.
“Have you seen the brat?” he sticks his head in my room “Do doors mean nothing in this house?” pointing behind him as she slips past down the hall. “why do you smell like cotton candy?” I wrinkle my nose at him “three guesses bet you’ll only need one though.” Shaking my head. “give her a break she’s on a magical time out.” “Really? Why?” the joy in his eyes. Nyx is rarely in trouble even when she is she isn’t. But when she’s put on a timeout it’s big. “follow me and we will both find out. Oh, mars come out where ever you are?” I finish as I walk out of my room Ares following behind.
Making our way to the gym where I know Mars will be. He gets mad he starts working out. The room is a freezer. Pushing some heat out of me to warm the room his head snaps up. “oh it’s you. Thought it was the evil princess.” He drops the weights. “so little brother why is our sister on magical time out?” “good. You know that new girl Kelly?” we both nod “well Nyx kinda causes her to break both her arms?” “how?” “she was maybe bent over some hay bales in the loft when the loft disappeared for a second. Nyx said she thought I was hiding not playing hide the snake. So Kelly landed hands down and I landed on her. Dought she will see me again.”
Trying not to laugh at the images popping in my head. “ill talk to Kelly. But in return can you turn the training floor look like this? Nyx wants to welcome gramps Jamie home with a winter wonderland.” Holding the card out to him. “bro if she’s your mate she will get over it” Ares chuckles. Mars just glares at him. “ya I can do this. Tell her I’m so sorry I’ll make it up to her any way she wants.” I nod and pat him on the shoulder. “how about I ask her to join me and you for movie night she will be double protected from Nyx.” Ares says shocking me. Maybe there is something to Mars's crush on Kelly Ares hates outsiders on family nights. Mars nods grab his towel and heads to the locker room. Raising my brow at Ares “just shut up okay? I don’t know why I did that just oh I don’t know screw you.” “mars is not the only one with a crush on the new girl.” He punches me telling me I’m right. “does Mars know.” He shakes his head. “he's head over heels for her. If she is his mate I don’t want it in the back of his mind.” “what if she’s both your mate? You know you might share a mate.” “and if we don’t. Why don’t you go talk to Kelly and explain it wasn’t her Nyx was trying to mess with or even hurt? Once Nyx stops moving and realizes what happened Kelly better be ready for her apologies. The only reason Nyx is not showing Kelly now is she’s not letting herself think about what happened. She let Ambrose put her on a magical time out.” Ares froze. “like no nightshade, teas to make her sleepy so we can bind her for being a brat. She really has no magic right now?” he whispers in shock patting his shoulder “man she really does feel bad huh?” “yep and now we have to make the training floor look like the north pole cause she’s focused on granddad Jamie.”
