Chapter 12

Yesterday had been draining so I took the morning to relax. Grabbing the journal I head to my office the dream I had of Artemis sitting in the bay window reading hand me wanting to do the same.

I had stopped by the kitchen sticking up on snacks before I locked myself in my office. I found the window did have a chest under it with throw blankets and a pillow. I start to wonder if I’m developing some kind of ability. That would be bad.

Settling in I open the journal where I had marked it to find the page blank. Flipping through the whole thing. Blank. What? No shutting and opening to the first page only to find it’s different than before.

Tomorrow I will take my place as Luna. The alpha gave me this journal to help me settle in. My mate's mother started this journal and I’ll continue.

Who is this? Wait, is Easter a Luna awe that would be so great. Returning my focus to the pages. She describes this as a forming guide from Luna to Luna. She's writing down all the advice she can think of and how things should be done.

“Daniel, come on the cows can live with someone else feeding them for one night it’s your dad’s last night here before he goes looking for a second chance mate.” Tugging on my big stubborn alpha. “tell you what opal if you can get me to move I’ll go in the house right now.”

I pout, pulling up any sad feeling and making tears pool in my eyes “oh no what’s wrong?” he rushes to me. breaking out in that kill me now smile. “got you to move. Let’s go.” I grab his arm and try pulling him. Chuckling he shakes his head. “hey, Paul your Luna is stealing me away can you finish the night feed.” “you got it alpha. Tell your pops he’s gonna be missed and to hurry back.” “worried I’m gonna burn the pack down.” “well you did set the stable on fire that one time with oh what was” “shut up” he growled. “wait, what?” I ask nope grabbing my waist he tosses me over my shoulder. “one word Paul and you know what you will get?” “Sorry, Luna I don’t muck stales no more that’s a pup's job” “no fair you two are bullies.” Huffing I digging my elbows into his back.

“you know you should send Paul out with your father. Maybe he will find his mate and I’ll finally get a girl my age around here.” “what my sister Not enough for you?” “That's not what I meant and you know it you big brute. Maryanne might not find her mate in the dozen of males here now. And who knows if she’s staying here or following her mate off into the sunset.” “stay out of my mother’s reader your getting too many wild ideas.” Setting me down as we crest the last little hill before the two-story house comes into view.

Daniel's father started to add an expansion on the back. We have been looking over plans to build a few barn-style buildings to create rooms for the wolves. Late at night I sometimes hear whispering in the halls even when I know I’m alone. It’s like someone is trying to tell me something and I just can’t hear it yet.

Paul's mom Mrs. Brown does all the cooking but she’s teaching me. Here we all pitch in and help me. I will admit, I would rather be in the kitchen than in the smelly barns. But I do adore every critter on this farm. “there you two are I was worried you’d miss saying goodbye.” Daniel and his father Samuel start talking while I slip off to the kitchen with Mrs. Brown. “what do you want me to do Mrs. Brown?” “grab the biscuits won’t you dear” we work together for the next quarter hour finishing supper.

When she pulls the pots out of the coal bed to pull out a couple of roast and four chickens. I start to bring the dishes to the table that Maryanne set.

After a great supper, Samuel grabbed his bag to set out. Over this last year, I started to see Samuel as a father figure, and will miss him. But like he said he wants to find a second chance mate and give Daniel room to stand on his own two feet. Sink or swim it’s up to us now to care for this small pack of wolves. Next is having pups. Daniel's mother passed having Maryanne and Jacob. Twins who couldn’t be more different. If it wasn’t for the fact they look alike you wouldn’t even guess they were related let alone twins.

I hope when I have a pup he is the spitting image of Daniel. “come, Luna let’s go try and make a pup.” Danial links me making me blush. His full belly laugh shakes the house. Ducking my head I rush past the dining area to the back of the house where our room is. “come here little wolf.” He says grabbing me and kissing me hard. My body was on fire.

“ATHENA DAWN WINTERS ANSWER ME RIGHT NOW!” a loud screeching comes from nowhere. Looking around behind Daniel I don’t see anyone.

Shooting up gasping as ice water covers me. “what the fuck.” Jumping up looking at a room full of people. “what's going on?” “you have been missing since yesterday. Or we thought you were missing. Are you sick?” dad asks as my mom feels my head. Shaking my head pushing my mom’s hand off me. “I’m fine what do you mean missing? I just came in here a couple of hours ago.”

The room is silent for a long pregnant moment. “honey Sara saw you grab those snacks yesterday morning. The door was locked so we didn’t think you were in here but then you made a high pitch squeal as Gabe was passing by.” My mom tells me. Shock is all I can feel staring at everyone feeling so lost and confused.
