Chapter 95

With Ambrose acting odd these past few months I decided before we can move forward with his help he needed to be seen by someone who knows magic. So I called in the hidden cloak of a small coven of witches not too far from the closest human-only town. They won't be able to be here for another month at the earliest something to do with a late something or other I don’t not magic so I will just take their word on it. This gave us time to work on the ceremonies for the she-wolves and make Artemis the actual Luna. She had wanted to wait until she had a chance to get to know more of the pack and make sure she was gonna be the Luna they needed. Once she came out of her flight not fight mode the wolves around her fell for her. The only thing that we both have not enjoyed at this time is the knotting. It's a learning curve it happens every time we make or engage in gymnastics. We have been getting better at knowing right when to pull out enough that the knot happens not inside her. Moving after is not an option if I was still seated deep in her. Just means more laundry (yes housekeeping hates me I do believe.)

In one of the meetings about the ceremonies and welcoming Artemis and Michelle into the pack Michelle asked that we wait until she's 18. I had not needed to grant that as she can't accept the bond into a pack without her previous alpha’s approval. In the case of no alpha the closest blood relative over 18 and since she had none we had to wait until she was 18 and concerned and adult in our world. I know this is young as most races have a higher age limit from child to adulthood but for wolves, we already have an accelerated learning curve along with other shifters. The dual nature of our being makes it so we have to mature sooner. If we let our animal side take over super rogue then we are lost to humanity. We would no longer be able to shift back to a human as we let our human side die.
On the extreme side of that, a shifter can cause the death of their animal counterpart and become nothing more than a human. Then there is the rare case a wolf leaves their human. It's said to have happened once too long ago for the stories to be completely true. But the human did something so bad their wolf side turned their back on them leaving them cursing their whole line. Now I have no idea if all of that is true I do know that it's possible or at least for the wolf to go into hiding from their human half. Artemis’s wolf did it. It's only now months later that she is starting to show signs she will be able to shift again soon. The stronger she gets physically and mentally I can feel her wolf more and more.

As for her training, she's picked up a lot of warrior training skills so fast it's like they were already in her. Without being able to ask Ambrose we decided it probably had something to do with her goddess bond to Artemis and her being the goddess of the hunt. I will say that since she opened up to the pack and grew fond of the lands and the animals here the livestock has seemed to oh how do you put it beefed up no that's wrong beef beefing up so dumb but the size and quality of our livestock have increased. word coming from all companies seem to have had an increase in profit. One small heifer had passed in a hard birthing she had been a great heifer protective mama good milk producer. The calf had cried and cried and wouldn't take the bottle from any of us. Artemis had come down to the barn to find out why I was so late. The calf stilled as Artemis entered the barn. It was the first time in hours this little one has stopped crying out. Artemis seeing the small calf rushed to her as the small calf wobbly tried to get to her. Helping the tiny thing as Artemis got there. the small pure white bull melted into Artemis. Taking this time I helped Artemis hold the bottle and feed the little guy.

As Artemis was using a towel to wipe down the bull she asks “where’s the girl?” “huh love I think you are mistaken there is only one.” looking up at me with eyes glowing “no there is a girl, he is a twin find her now!” the amount of power in her tone had the animals quiet and look to the door. Holding my hands up to show I surrender to her and will head out right now. Backing away from my terrifying mate I head to the tack room if there is a calf out there easy to bring back on horseback than as a wolf. When I get I link telling me that one of the teens is coming in hot with a limp calf slung over his back I rushed to meet him at the barn door. Calling in every animal healer we have. These cows are some of our lively hood and need the respect they deserve. Without these beasts, we would not eat.

When the brown wolf comes skidding to a halt I scooped the small calf off his back nodding to him the heads towards the back of the barn where the loft stairs are. Taking this small pure black heifer over to the stall ready to put her down for them to work on her when Artemis yells “bring her here” not crossing her so I took the small thing to her laying her down I go get a bottle. Coming back Artemis had taken the bottle she had been feeding the white bull with and got the small black heifer to suckle on it. When the vet got here Artemis had the small thing stable and eating well. So do you know what happens when your mate adopts two newborn calves? Yep, that's right you move into the barn loft until they no longer need feeding every two hours. Taking a deep breath seeing how happy Artemis is right now I get an oddly sweet smell. But it was gone as fast as it came.

Had I known my first children would be huge as cows I would have bought mama’s little heifer and mama’s big bull harnesses. Not that I may or may not have ordered them.
