Chapter 19

“where is that room?” I ask my father. He’s been in the pack for almost twenty years. “I have no clue. I’ve never seen it before. To be honest I don’t know who’s been here the longest at this point.” “Well shit.” Pacing I look at the notes scattered. “This is a witch's lab. I’ve seen one once when I was a pup. My mother was part of an experiment or something. I don’t remember a lot I was young.”

Well turns out this family has more secrets than I thought. “do you remember what pack you were in before you came here?” “Oh we were rogues dear I thought you knew.” My father shrugs picking up a book. “you know I hate to say this but that painting could be helpful here. I wonder if we could move it here.” “only one way to find out”

With that, we head back down to get the painting or try to. Making it back in a short time we stop before going in. “he doesn’t seem to respect she-wolves. But I’m the alpha so let me do to talking for now okay.” Giving me a side eye for a moment before he nods. Squaring my shoulders I walk in. I don’t say anything I just walk over to the painting moving it slightly to see how it’s attached to the wall. Finding it surprisingly light. It’s hung by one nail. So I lift it and father steadies it. “what the fuck do you think you are doing. Stop that right fucking now.” Turning it so it’s facing the ground. Linking my dad. “ I have an idea put the painting down face up.” So we flip it and lay it on the ground.

Spinning I sprint to the window yanking the curtain off. The whole time Loki is yelling and having a fit. Looking down I see that he is leaning against the wall. No laying. Biting my lip trying hard not to laugh at the very angry whatever he is.

Smirking I fling the curtain out fanning it over the painting and blocking him from view. “from now on he stays covered unless we are talking to him and link so he can’t hear us.” He smirks back and nods.

He's complaining and yelling the entire time. Going through doors we have to turn it around. His yelp and cries make me want to laugh. He acted all might well who’s the big bad now?

Setting the painting on a table leaning against the wall we turn the table the monitor is attached to. Nodding when done I stand in front of the monitor. Dad pulls the curtain off the painting. “what the fuck was that about? Oh shit, you found it. What do you want?” he looks around taking stock of what he can see. “I want to know where a room is?” “what room?” he shrugs pointing at things almost like he no longer sees me. “this room.” Stepping aside waiting for him to look over. “what have you don’t to Renee?” he bellows out. “she means something to you?” “you monsters what have you done to them?” his fist beating against the air. Looking at the screen I see a large chunk cut off her leg. “dad?” I don’t look away.

The male pushes a small plate over to the females. The younger girl pulls it back then pulls a metal pipe and lays it on the plate. She grabs the knife and cuts the chunk into pieces. The male then crawled over to a table pulling himself up. “what did you do to them?” Loki whispers pain in his voice. “they mean something to you?” “Why do you care?”. He chokes out as we watch them cook the chunks on a small fire. Feeding the most back to the older girl. Wanting to hear what they are saying I turned the volume up.

“I know that it’s only been your mother’s week for a few days but with her healing slow tomorrow take from me okay.” “But papa you haven’t healed enough. When will I get my wolf so I can help.” “NO! Baby no we don’t want you to have to suffer the pain. We are used to it. Just run, and be ready for when the monster comes back. Push past him and run okay don’t look back. I should have listened to my mother.” Dropping his head. “do you remember where I told you to go?” “yes go northeast to the crimson river. Follow the river to the lake where I will find the crimson river pack. Once there ask to speak to Sandra Sara Winston. Then tell her everything she’s your grandmother. But why not your parents?” “grams is easier to talk to and she will listen she was an alpha's daughter.”

Hitting mute. Turning to look at a broken man on his knees. “who are they to you?” “my only friends. The first people to see me for me, not as the vessel. Why?” “I wanted to ask you that. Where is that room?” his eyes snap up “what do you mean?” “We had the dungeons locked and sealed almost sixteen years ago every cell and room was checked this was not down there.” Loki gets up and paces. “pull the guard I will be able to tell you which one was his personal guard or gopher boy.” Clicking a few times on my phone I pull up the files of the guard. “do you know what pack?” I ask “this one. He was in the special assignment squared.” “special assignment?” “yes to guard the room I was locked in.” “Why?” “to keep this painting sealed away.”

“that’s it once we find them and see to them you are spilling everything or you’ll be in a dark room facing the wall with the most annoying sound playing forever.” Glaring at him. For the first time, he didn’t have a smart-ass comeback. He just nods. Finding the list I pull up the photos. “next, next, next, neeemmmm next, next, him” turning it around it's a photo of a dark-haired kid. Clicking his file.

Name Gregory Williams Sex male assignment special unit. Mate none pups none

Scrolling to find his address it shows missing. “Well that’s great he’s missing?” “bring me a witch any witch. I’ll have them do a simple tracking spell any pup can do.” “no, magic is forbidden. Magic destroyed this pack.” I stand firm.
