Chapter 109
Charles said, "We've coordinated with the border authorities. If Mr. Nathan Kennedy is found, he'll be allowed to cross. However, he hasn't shown up at the border yet."
"Something's wrong! Grandpa, we must send a helicopter for a search and rescue. Novaria is full of primeval forests. If the plane malfunctions, they won't be able to get out!" Nick said urgently.
Aiden frowned, "Our rescue team needs permission from the authorities overseas to take action, and given the urgency of the situation, it's even more challenging."
"So what do we do? We can't just sit here and do nothing, right?" Nick asked.
"Why are you so anxious? We're working on it. Charles, contact the mayor of Silvercrest, David Jones, and ask him to spare some time to talk to me."
"Yes, sir."
Nick paced anxiously indoors, praying devoutly, "God bless, Nathan must be okay! If a miracle happens, I am willing to give up ten years of my life for his safety!"
The Kennedy Family was urgently mobilizing resources for the rescue, while on the other side, Sawyer returned in a hurry, carrying a bunch of food straight to the film set.
He found only Roxanne and Megan, along with a few supporting actors, busy at work. Caroline was nowhere to be seen.
Due to the Kennedy Family's information blackout, no one in the crew, including William, knew that Caroline was missing.
Sarah informed William that Caroline had suddenly fallen ill and was hospitalized, with an unknown leave duration. Although William was displeased, he knew Caroline had a strong background and had no choice but to agree.
Sawyer searched everywhere for Caroline but to no avail, so he asked the staff about her whereabouts.
They replied that Caroline was seriously ill and had not come to the set today.
Sawyer, anxious upon hearing this, asked which hospital she was in.
The staff said they didn't know and suggested he ask Caroline's agent.
So, Sawyer quickly contacted Sarah, who was in a dilemma, unsure whether to tell him the truth.
After much deliberation, she decided to reveal the truth, as Sawyer and Caroline were very close, and he could be of great help.
Sarah then went to the set and explained the circumstances of Caroline's disappearance in detail in Sawyer's trailer.
Sawyer was furious upon hearing this. "It's Roxanne again! I want her out of the crew!"
"We have no solid evidence right now, but she is the prime suspect. After all, she has always wanted Demi gone," Sarah said.
"It must be her. I won't forgive her! We haven't even settled the score for her poisoning last time, and now this!"
"There was no evidence last time either, and even less this time. If Demi can return safely, she can confront her. If she really disappears, we won't even have a chance to seek justice. And Ryan and Sophie are innocent," Sarah said, tears in her eyes.
"Demi is tough; she will be fine. Don't worry. I'm going to find her!"
"The Kennedy Family has been keeping this under wraps, hoping you can keep it confidential too," Sarah said worriedly.
"I know what to do," Sawyer said.
At this moment, a staff came to urge Sawyer to get ready for his afternoon scenes.
Sawyer ignored everything and ordered the driver to head straight to the Kennedy Family.
After hearing from Charles, he learned that Nathan had personally gone for the rescue and was also missing.
"So what do we do now?" Sawyer asked anxiously.
"Mr. Aiden Kennedy has spoken with the mayor of Silvercrest. The mayor is coordinating, trying to send a rescue team across the border, but it involves negotiations between two countries, and with the ongoing conflict, it's extremely difficult and dangerous," Charles explained.
"Just hearing this frustrates me. If we keep delaying, Nathan and the others will be in danger! I'll figure something out! Where's Nick? I need to talk to him."
"Mr. Nick Kennedy is resting. He didn't sleep at all last night and is very tired," Charles replied.
"How can he sleep at a time like this? I'm waking him up!"
Nick just barely resting his eyes. All he could do was wait.
Sawyer knocked on the door forcefully. "Nick, open up. I have something urgent!"
Nick opened the door and saw Sawyer holding a map.
"Don't mess around, or I'll punch you!" Nick said.
"Do you think I'm a kid? You don't know how capable I am? Come here, listen to me."
Nick had no choice but to lean in.
"Look, Nick, according to Charles, Nathan crossed the border here. That area is uninhabited mountains. Few people have made it through over the years, and many have lost their lives there!"
Nick's already fragile heart was shaken. "I know all this. Why are you saying it? Are you cursing Nathan and the kids?"
"I'm analyzing the situation. The border is sealed; we can't get through, and planes can't either. There's a war going on there; it's too difficult."
"Get to the point!" Nick said emotionally.
"Don't be anxious, Nick. Here's the key point! There's no conflict here, and the border isn't sealed. We can enter Novaria from this side for the search and rescue. It's feasible," Sawyer said, pointing at the map.
"The border you mentioned is at the junction of Elysium and Novaria. To sneak in from there, we need to get the Elysium government on board and then coordinate with Novaria. This whole process involves three countries' departments, extremely complicated!" Nick frowned.
"Following the rules, it's naturally troublesome. But with the right help, it's a different story. I'm good friends with the Vice President of Elysium's son. If he steps in, we can resolve this quickly!"
"Is he really that capable?" Nick looked skeptical.
"Why would I lie to you? Last time he lost a few million dollars in Emberwood, I helped him out."
"You dare to set foot in Emberwood."
"Nick, don't be anxious. Let's get to the important stuff. Anyway, I'll ask him for help. We can enter from Elysium and start the search!"
Nick scrutinized Sawyer. "Is it reliable?"
"It has to be!" Sawyer patted his chest in assurance.
"Then what are you waiting for? Contact him now!" Nick urged.
"Okay, I'll get on it right away!"
At eight that evening, Roxanne was thrilled to get an unexpected call from Sawyer, who surprised her even more by saying he'd pick her up in half an hour.
She immediately started getting ready meticulously. How could she not go all out for Sawyer's invitation?
Half an hour later, right on time, Sawyer appeared downstairs at Roxanne's place in a luxury sports car. He simply gestured for her to get in without saying a word.
Roxanne was secretly delighted. If she could get on good terms with Sawyer, many things would go smoothly in the future!
"Where are we going?" Roxanne asked.
