Chapter 187

Caroline pointed to her mouth and softly asked Sawyer, "Are you feeling better?"

"It's much better now," Sawyer replied.

Caroline felt that he indeed seemed much better, able to speak longer sentences without stuttering. Previously, Sawyer could only say very short sentences, otherwise, he would start to stutter. Now it seemed he had made a breakthrough.

But she had just been happy for a moment, and Sawyer started stuttering again.

"Okay, I get it. You can only maintain a slightly better state than before, right?" Caroline asked.

"Yes!" Sawyer nodded vigorously.

"Sway, get in the car!" Nathan called out to Sawyer.

Sawyer was confused. He thought Nathan had asked him to meet at the service area so he could ride with Caroline. But clearly, that wasn't the case. Nathan wanted to ride with Sawyer, leaving Caroline in a separate car.

Caroline was also puzzled. She had just taken a nap in the car, how did she offend Nathan to the point that he insisted on separating them?

However, she quite liked this arrangement. Driving alone meant she could do whatever she wanted, free and easy.

Originally, Sawyer wanted to ride with Caroline so they could play games together during the trip. But Nathan's arrangement disrupted his plans, leaving him frustrated.

But he didn't dare to resist, so he obediently got into the car and sat next to Nathan.

Seeing Sawyer's unhappy expression, Nathan felt a bit angry too.

It was absolutely right not to let Sawyer and Caroline ride together. Caroline seemed to have some kind of magic. The energetic young Sawyer definitely couldn't resist her allure. They must not get too close!

Nathan glanced at Sawyer beside him, who was staring out the window, clearly in a bad mood.

"We spent a lot of money on PR for your image this time," Nathan said.

"I know, Nathan."

"If you were just an ordinary artist, I wouldn't have saved you," Nathan continued.

"I know, Nathan." Sawyer repeated.

Nathan got even angrier.

Sawyer was obviously distracted, his mind full of Caroline!

"Keep your distance from her; don't let her affect your future. I don't want another PR crisis like this!" Nathan's tone became stern.

"Yes, Nathan." Sawyer answered seriously.

But Nathan could tell that Sawyer was still thinking about her.

Nathan closed his eyes and stopped talking.

Sawyer thought Nathan had fallen asleep, so he quietly took out his phone to message Caroline: [Are you carsick?]

Caroline quickly replied: [No, are you?]

Sawyer: [Me neither. Why won't Nathan let us ride together?]

Caroline: [No idea!]

Sawyer: [If we could ride together, we could have so much fun!]

Caroline: [Yeah, it's been a long time since we played together. We just haven't had the time or opportunity.] Caroline replied.

Actually, Nathan wasn't asleep at all. He slightly opened his eyes and saw Sawyer's messages.

A surge of anger rose in Nathan's heart. He grabbed Sawyer's phone.

Opening the car window, Nathan almost threw the phone out but ended up smashing it heavily at Sawyer's feet.

Sawyer was stunned.

Nathan was usually strict, but rarely this impulsive. His behavior today was truly frightening.

"Turn around and go back! Cancel the event!" Nathan said coldly.

The driver was shocked, thinking, 'I can't just turn around on the highway; I have to exit at the next toll station to turn around.'

"Nathan, what's wrong? Did I do something wrong?" Sawyer got nervous and started stuttering after just a few words.

All the recent treatment seemed to have been in vain.

Nathan was initially agitated, but when Sawyer started stuttering, his heart softened.

He didn't understand why he lost control. Was it really because he cared too much?

"Forget it, keep going forward." Nathan sighed.

He meant to continue to Willowbrook Hills to complete today's event.

"Nathan, I..."

"Alright, don't say anything more; it's fine." Nathan quickly composed himself.

"Don't be angry." Sawyer said pitifully.

Nathan picked up the phone and handed it to him.

"Behave yourself." Nathan said coldly.

Sawyer's phone rang at this moment; it was Caroline calling.

She wanted to know how Sawyer would face the media if he still stuttered.

Sawyer glanced at Nathan, afraid to answer the call.

Nathan signaled him to answer and put it on speaker.

"What are you doing? Why aren't you replying to my messages?" Caroline asked.

"I'm a bit sleepy." Sawyer replied.

"Nathan doesn't want you to reply, does he?" Caroline complained.

Sawyer didn't dare to respond.

"Is it really Nathan not letting you reply? Oh my god, why does he control so much? I want to ask you how you'll face the reporters later. Don't mess up."

Sawyer remained silent.

"Are you listening?" Caroline shouted.

"Yes." Sawyer said, trembling.

"How will you face the reporters? You can't mess up this time. Nathan put in so much effort to help you restore your image; don't drag him down. Anyway, I'm a minor character, so it doesn't matter if I'm ruined. You're a top star; it would be a pity if you're ruined. So in front of the reporters, I'll try to talk less to prove we're just colleagues. You need to perform well and return to your sunny, handsome self." Caroline said a lot in one breath, but her later words were quite reasonable.

"Yes, I know." Sawyer felt relieved. Good thing Caroline didn't say anything inappropriate; otherwise, he really wouldn't know how to handle it.
