Chapter 125

Roxanne wanted to escape, but as she turned, Ryan's figure suddenly appeared beside her, his blood-stained hand reaching for her face.

The touch was icy cold, all covered in blood!

"You wicked woman, why did you harm me?" Ryan questioned.

Roxanne trembled all over and begged, "I was wrong; please spare me!"

"Why did you harm me?" Caroline pressed.

"I was jealous of you. I didn't want you to marry into the Kennedy Family because of the child. I was wrong; please spare my life!" Roxanne knelt and kowtowed repeatedly.

"My son is still young, and you dared to harm him. You vile woman, you'll pay for this!" Caroline scolded.

"I was wrong! I'm sorry! Your daughter is still alive, I will take good care of her. Please rest in peace and spare my worthless life."

"Was it you who caused my allergic reaction on set?" Caroline asked again.

"Yes, I did too many wrong things. I'm sorry!" Roxanne confessed.

"Was it you who endangered my child at Sarah's house?" Caroline demanded again.

"It was me. I'm sorry to you and your child!" Roxanne cried uncontrollably.

"You vicious woman."

"Enough," Suddenly, Nathan's voice interrupted from outside the door.

It was Nathan! Roxanne quickly called for help, "Nathan, save me!"

The wooden door opened, and the firelight illuminated the room much more.

"Go wash your face; the green medicinal extract is bad for your skin. Ryan, you too," Nathan said.

A ghost washing its face? Roxanne immediately felt something was wrong.

"Nathan, she's the real culprit, isn't she?" Ryan's tone returned to normal.

Nathan remained silent, not easily convinced.

"Nathan, she is your fiancée; of course you would protect her," Caroline in a calm voice.

Roxanne suddenly realized Caroline and her son were alive!

"Why aren't you dead?" she asked, confused.

Caroline slapped her. "If we were dead, wouldn't you be happy?"

"Tie her up!" Nathan said coldly.

"Mr. Kennedy, I'm innocent. I was just scared into confessing!" Roxanne regretted.

Nathan remained silent. Roxanne was supposedly his girlfriend, but now, in front of everyone, her crimes were exposed, and her dignity was shattered.

He knew Roxanne was vain and opportunistic, but he never thought she was so malicious, even harming a child.

All of this was due to Ryan's meticulous planning.

Ryan and Sophie had long suspected Roxanne and were secretly on guard. When Roxanne delivered food, Ryan smelled the scent of Silvermoon Herb in the medicinal extract.

The herb came from his hand; how could he not recognize it?

Ryan informed Caroline that the soup was drugged.

Caroline wanted to pour it out, but Ryan stopped her. Silvermoon Herb was toxic but not lethal; it was just a ploy to lure Roxanne into exposing her misdeeds.

So, they continued to eat and drink as usual, remaining unharmed.

But without the pretense of poisoning, how could they make Roxanne confess?

Accusing her directly might not convince Nathan. Only a dramatic gesture, nothing less than a "death" scene, could fully uncover the truth.

And this required skill and cooperation. Pretending to be unconscious was easy, but faking death—controlling their breathing and lowering their body temperature—was much harder.

Ryan had a secret method, a drug that could temporarily lower body temperature, slow the heartbeat, and make one appear dead.

More importantly, it required someone with acting skills to make it convincing.

The original plan was for Sophie and Caroline to cooperate, but Caroline adjusted the strategy, letting Sophie take on the role.

Ryan was composed but lacked the aptitude for deception and acting. In contrast, Sophie was resourceful and a natural performer, effortlessly spinning lies. Thus, the responsibility of playing the living naturally fell to Sophie.Sophie performed exceptionally, her cries were heart-wrenching.

At first, her emotions were not at their peak, but thinking of her mother and brother truly dying, her grief intensified, and her cries grew louder.

Sophie's deep emotional performance created a thick atmosphere of sorrow, and no one doubted Caroline's death.

In the darkness, with the damp forest and the cool night air, everything seemed flawless.

The later disappearance of Ryan and Caroline was straightforward. At dusk, under Sophie's clever cover, they quietly moved to a hidden spot behind the wooden cabin.

Why did the searchers find nothing?

It was all thanks to Sophie's wit and the cover of darkness. At night, without light, anyone approaching could be easily avoided by slipping into the shadows.

Ryan, an exceptionally intelligent child, played hide and seek with his mother. Who could easily find them?

Especially with Sophie's seamless cooperation, whenever the search team got close, she would quickly divert their attention, making everything seem normal.

Naturally, Caroline was eventually "found," or rather, "chased." While she could evade others under the cover of night, there was one person she couldn't escape: Nathan, with the instincts of a bloodhound. While searching in the forest, Nathan could faintly smell a hint of orange blossom.

Though it had been diluted by the forest and mixed with other scents, he could still catch it.

Like a bloodhound on a trail, he found Caroline, who thought she was well hidden.

But he didn't make a fuss or panic.

He didn't believe Caroline could come back to life, let alone that she was playing hide and seek.

So, when he found Caroline, his joy was almost uncontrollable.

The ecstasy of regaining what was lost made him lose his composure. Without asking for reasons, he hugged the surprised Caroline and Ryan tightly.

Caroline was also stunned by the sudden hug, dumbfoundedly feeling Nathan's suffocating embrace.

At that moment, Nathan's heart was filled with pure joy. He was grateful to the heavens for their kindness in allowing him to reclaim his most precious treasure.

It felt as if he had gone through hell and back.
