Chapter 79
Nick slipped into character right away, looking totally heartbroken, his face full of sorrow, and he poured out his love with deep emotion.
Caroline, being an actress, was taken aback by Nick's quick change of expression. One moment, he was all smiles, and the next, he was deeply affectionate.
Even though his performance was a bit over the top and lacked sincerity, his good looks made it pretty impressive.
Caroline kept backing away, totally thrown off by the sudden love confession.
The whole set was stunned by this unexpected twist.
Except for Caroline, no one knew that the handsome guy in white wasn't Nathan. So, everyone judged Nick's actions based on Nathan's usual behavior.
Nathan's aloof image was so ingrained in everyone's minds that Nick's exaggerated behavior left them all shocked.
Nick had no plans to explain who he really was. Coming from a prestigious family, he always did whatever he wanted. He only needed to report to Aiden and Nathan. Explaining to others? Not his style.
"Darling, don't avoid me. I've been missing you day and night all these years. Thank God I finally found you. Come on, give me a hug!" Nick bypassed Sarah and opened his arms to hug Caroline.
Seeing things were getting out of hand, Caroline turned and bolted!
Nick thought, 'You've already had two kids with me, why are you running? In such a small place, where could you go? I'll chase you down.'
Nick never cared about his image. Without a word, he chased after Caroline.
Now it was surprising. Everyone’s eyes followed them as they wondered what the heck was going on.
In the end, Caroline couldn't outrun Nick and got cornered against the wall.
"Don't come any closer or do anything stupid. I don't know you!" Caroline said urgently.
"Darling, don't be scared. Even though we haven't seen each other for years, we already have two kids. You've suffered all these years, and I feel really guilty. From now on, I'll love and cherish you," Nick said, completely ignoring everyone else's stares.
Caroline got goosebumps. He was so cheesy!
At their first meeting, in front of so many people, the guy could say such cheesy things without any embarrassment. He must have practiced a lot!
"Stop it!" Caroline said, a bit annoyed.
"Why should I stop? Aren't we a loving family? By the way, do you like these flowers?" Nick asked.
The crowd stirred again.
So these flowers were for Caroline? The sheer number showed how deep his love was!
Roxanne's face turned pale instantly.
She finally realized that the guy who looked like Nathan wasn't Nathan.
Even though she was supposedly Nathan's girlfriend, Nathan never let her get involved in family matters or meet the core members of the Kennedy Family.
She didn't even know that Sawyer was Nathan's nephew.
But she knew Nathan had a twin brother because Nick was also a celebrity in Aurora City, chased by many actresses and socialites.
Even though Nick wasn't as outstanding as Nathan, his good looks and the Kennedy Family background made him one of the top three young and wealthy men in Aurora City.
Roxanne had never met Nick in person and didn't know that Nick always wore white suits while Nathan stuck to black.
But after all this chaos, she figured out that the guy in front of her was Nathan's brother.
Unless Nathan had lost his mind, he would never act so over-the-top.
Giving flowers, declaring love, chasing and hugging in public—totally not Nathan's style.
Even if this wasn't Nathan, Nick's actions still made Roxanne lose face and put Caroline in the spotlight.
What seemed ridiculous to Caroline was incredibly romantic to the rest of the crew.
"Darling, if you don't like the flowers, I've got other gifts," Nick said again.
The crowd held their breath. More gifts?
Nick pulled out a delicate box from his pocket.
He opened it, revealing a diamond bigger than a pigeon egg!
The crowd erupted in amazement, especially the women, who felt their hearts about to leap out of their chests.
Even Roxanne had never seen such a huge diamond.
Nick said, "Darling, this is a large diamond I brought back from Stellaria. It's the best quality produced there in the past two years. I hope you like it."
Caroline was completely stunned. His actions were so over-the-top, sending a sea of flowers and a huge diamond!
"I don't want it," Caroline refused.
The crowd gasped.
"You don't want it?"
"Is Demi crazy? She doesn't want such a big diamond!"
Sarah was also anxious.
Such a big diamond, how much would it have been worth? Caroline didn't want it? This was simply unbelievable!
Nick was secretly surprised. Such a large diamond, how could an ordinary woman not accept it? She actually refused?
"Demi doesn't really not want it; she just wants to continue filming and asked me to accept it on her behalf," Sarah said, her eyes gleaming as she stared at the diamond.
Caroline glared at Sarah, thinking, 'Sarah is really money-hungry. Can she just accept it like that?'
Caroline believed that Nick was clearly here to take her children away. How could she accept his gifts?
"No, I want her to accept it personally," Nick firmly disagreed.
"Stop it, I need to continue filming," Caroline sighed.
"You can take a break from filming today. We'll pick up our kids and have a family reunion dinner!" Nick insisted.
Caroline said, "It's not up to you whether we film or not. I need to continue working."
Nick cleared his throat. "Who's the director?"
William wondered if Nathan was drunk today, but he didn't dare to say it and quickly stepped forward, "I am the director, William."
"Demi doesn’t have to shoot any scenes today. Does my word count?" Nick asked.
"Of course! Your word definitely counts. Whatever you say goes!" William quickly replied.
Nick looked at Caroline triumphantly. "Did you hear that? Darling, shall we go?"
"No, I'm not going," Caroline refused.
"Don't be like that, just agree with him, Demi," Sarah urged.
"You can go if you want. I'm not going," Caroline replied irritably.
"He's the father of your children. You can't stop them from recognizing each other for your own sake. Besides, everyone is watching. If you don't go, he'll be embarrassed. He'll force you to go, and you'll only embarrass yourself," Sarah whispered in Caroline's ear.
