Chapter 113
"No, I was just thinking about where to start."
"Just say it, who kidnapped the child?"
"I only know it was a foreigner, tall and strong, with a bunch of subordinates. They called him Captain."
"Captain? How did you meet him?" Sawyer pressed.
"I've always wanted to get rid of Demi and prevent her from marrying into the Kennedy Family, but I never succeeded. Then the Captain came to me, asking about the Kennedys. He said he had a way to handle the Demi situation, as long as I cooperated."
Sawyer gestured for her to continue.
Roxanne swallowed and continued, "He asked me to provide information about the Kennedy Family, but I didn't know much. Since Demi and I were in the same crew, I had the opportunity to observe her closely. So, I informed the Captain about her child, who happens to be the Kennedy Family's weak spot. Demi, that ambitious woman, plans to use the child to marry into the Kennedy Family and live a luxurious life. Without the child, she wouldn't stand a chance!"
Sawyer slapped her and scolded, "Get to the point; don't insult Demi!"
"Later, I told the Captain everything about the child, Demi, and the Kennedy Family, and helped him devise the attack plan. But I didn't expect Nathan to go and rescue them," Roxanne explained.
"You really don't know anything about the Captain? Why is he targeting the Kennedy Family? Is it a grudge or for money?"
Roxanne shook her head. "I really don't know. I had no interest in his true motives. I just wanted him to take Demi and her two kids away to crush her dreams of marrying rich.Whatever he asked me to do or find out, I did my best to cooperate. As for his motives, I have no idea. I don't know who he is, and frankly, I don't care."
"You vicious woman; how could you harm the children?"
"Because they are Demi's children! I hate them!" Roxanne said emotionally.
"Did the Captain mention why he wanted to take the children abroad?" Sawyer asked.
"Hee only mentioned that the Kennedy Family is very powerful domestically, and many things are hard to accomplish. But if he took the children and Demi abroad, the Kennedy Family would be helpless."
Sawyer pondered for a moment. Although Roxanne's words couldn't be fully trusted, they roughly matched the current situation.
"How do you contact each other?"
"He always contacts me first, and the number is different each time. I can't contact him proactively," Roxanne answered.
"Don't lie to me, or you'll regret it!"
"I wouldn't dare lie. I messed up this time, and I'll explain everything to Nathan myself when we find him!" Roxanne quickly said.
"Mr. Rivera, there's a plane tailing us!" Robert suddenly shouted.
"What's going on? Why are they following us?" Sawyer also became nervous.
"The situation here is complicated, and they might be suspicious of us," Robert analyzed.
"Reach out to them and explain that we're here on a rescue mission, not to take sides."
"They're not responding and are still tailing us closely. Maybe there's a communication barrier?" Robert reported.
"Let them be, as long as they don't shoot."
As soon as he finished speaking, a strange noise was heard.
"Damn, they're shooting at us!" Robert exclaimed.
"Damn it!Shooting for no reason is just too much!" Sawyer cursed.
"Should we fight back?"
"This isn't a combat aircraft and we're unarmed. Let's escape!"
Soon, Robert reported again, "The plane seems to have been hit, Mr. Rivera, prepare to parachute!"
"What? What will happen if we jump?"
"The fuel tank has been hit! If we don't parachute, the plane might explode. We have to jump!" Robert had already opened the hatch.
"Alright, we have no choice. Prepare to parachute!"
On the ground, Nathan and his team were by the riverbank, watching the aerial chase.
"It looks like one plane is chasing another, not a battle," John analyzed.
"Could it be that the plane coming to rescue us was attacked?" Nathan asked.
"That's possible. How should we respond?" John looked at Nathan.
"If the plane catches fire, the passengers will parachute to save themselves. Let's prepare for a rescue," Nathan ordered.
"What if the ones who jump are enemies?"
"Rescue them first, then we'll see. Quickly organize a search team to find survivors!" Nathan calmly instructed.
"If the rescue plane is shot down, won't it be harder for us to leave?" Caroline whispered.
"Isn't it beautiful here?" Nathan suddenly looked at Caroline, his tone gentle.
Caroline was speechless. Did he really think this place was beautiful?
"Yes, it really is," Caroline reluctantly responded.
"You take care of the kids; I'll join the rescue. If it's a real rescue team, there must be more than one group. We'll get out of here soon."
He was so gentle; it was unlike him! Caroline thought that today was truly a miracle.
Despite the perilous situation, Lady Luck was on Sawyer's side. He miraculously landed safely in a warm river without a scratch; the water was just the right temperature.
However, Sawyer quickly noticed a six-foot-long creature swimming leisurely beside him. Upon closer inspection, it was a snake!
He was so terrified he almost screamed. Snakes were the one thing he couldn't stand.
Even in such a dire situation, with fear making his legs weak, he had to rely on himself, constantly motivating himself to stay calm.
Then, he used all his strength to swim to the shore. Once he finally climbed up, he started running.
"Help!" Sawyer heard a cry for help.
He looked up and saw Roxanne trapped on a small tree not far away.
"Help me, please," Roxanne pleaded when she saw Sawyer.
Despite Roxanne's notorious deeds, Sawyer hesitated to lend a hand.
He thought for a moment, 'Life is precious and shouldn't be taken lightly.'
Watching her die would be too cruel; Sawyer couldn't do it.
So, he eventually rescued Roxanne from the tree.
Both of them, exhausted, sat under the tree, gasping for breath.
"What do we do now? This place looks like a no-man's land. Are we going to die here?" Roxanne asked Sawyer with tearful eyes.
"Don't cry, we'll be fine. Once my friends in Elysium find out my plane crashed, they'll definitely send a rescue team for me," Sawyer comforted her.
"What if they can't find us?"
"Then accept your fate. You deserve this!" Sawyer scolded harshly.
Confronted with Sawyer's scolding, Roxanne held her tongue, but a seed of hatred took root in her heart.
At this moment, Sawyer remained silent, his gaze fixed on the river.
"What are you looking at?" Roxanne followed Sawyer's gaze and saw something floating in the river.
"What is that?"
Sawyer moved closer and pulled a piece of bark from the water. Carved into it were the letters "SOS."
This is the international distress signal. Someone actually used a piece of bark to send an SOS?
