Chapter 80
Caroline thought for a moment. With such a big scene, she knew Nick wouldn't have let it go if she didn't go with him.
If she caused a scene on set, she'd just give Roxanne another reason to laugh at her.
Since that was the case, she might as well have made Roxanne furious!
With that thought, Caroline's attitude changed instantly, and she smiled slightly. "Sometimes William has to listen to Roxanne. Roxanne hasn't spoken yet."
"Who's Roxanne?" Nick asked, pretending not to know.
"Roxanne is a superstar. Her words carry a lot of weight in the crew," Caroline added.
"Which one is Roxanne?" Nick asked loudly.
Torn by fury and embarrassment, Roxanne hated that she couldn't crawl into a hole.
She had wanted to take Nick's arm, but he didn't even recognize her.
Roxanne's face turned grim.
Seeing this, William had to step in to help. "This is Roxanne. Does she need to reintroduce herself to you, Mr. Kennedy?"
"You're Roxanne?" Nick scrutinized her.
Roxanne's face was grim, and she said nothing.
"I'm taking Demi with me. Do you have a problem with that?" Nick pressed.
Roxanne forced a smile. "I have no problem."
"That's right. Even if you did, it wouldn't matter. I take away whoever I want. Listen up, everyone. Demi is with me. If she wants to act, she can act as usual. If she doesn't, she can leave anytime. Anyone who dares to mess with her is my enemy!" Nick announced loudly.
Everyone was silent. Who would have dared provoke him?
They were all eager to curry favor with him!
"No one objects. We can go now, Darling," Nick smiled smugly.
"You're here today, so of course, they don't dare do anything. But what about tomorrow when you're not here? Someone will come to trouble me again," Caroline responded.
"Whoever dares to trouble you, I'll make sure they get out of this city!" Nick uttered sternly.
He turned to William. "You're the director? If Demi feels wronged in the crew, I'll hold you responsible!"
"Yes, Ms. Murphy will never be wronged. I guarantee it," William quickly replied.
Caroline chuckled, took Nick's arm, and gave a meaningful look at the nearly furious Roxanne.
Caroline hadn't planned to take Nick's arm, but seeing Roxanne's failed attempt, she wanted to try it. If she succeeded, it would have made Roxanne even angrier.
It worked perfectly. Nick, seeing Caroline no longer resisting, smiled like a child.
Nick and Caroline walked intimately down the exaggerated red carpet and got into the sports car.
The car roared and sped away.
Roxanne's face turned pale, and she collapsed to the ground.
The car was going so fast that Caroline felt uncomfortable. She thought, 'Does the car have to go this fast, and driving faster make a person cooler?'
Noticing Caroline's frown, Nick asked, "Darling, are you unhappy? Is the car uncomfortable?"
"We're not that familiar. Please don't call me darling," Caroline replied.
With a sharp screech, the car stopped by the roadside.
"It's inconvenient with so many people around. Let me formally introduce myself. I'm the father of your children and Nathan's twin brother, Nick. I may not be as famous as Nathan, but I'm more handsome. Most importantly, I'm a lot more interesting than him," Nick spoke seriously.
Caroline sighed in relief. She had guessed right; the man was indeed Nathan's brother.
This flamboyant Nick might not be more handsome than Nathan, but he was definitely more interesting!
"I've introduced myself. Don't you have anything to say?" Nick asked expectantly.
Caroline didn't know how to respond. She actually wanted to ask why he was at the club that night five years ago and ended up making love to her, resulting in Ryan and Sophie.
But she felt it wasn't urgent at the moment. The answer was no longer important.
What mattered now was how to prevent the Kennedy Family from taking away Ryan and Sophie.
From the looks of it, Nick seemed easier to deal with than Nathan, and he was Ryan and Sophie's biological father. The relationship that couldn't be erased.
Caroline decided to try to get along with Nick. At least she and Nick didn't annoy each other the way she and Nathan did.
If Nick and Nathan teamed up to take away Ryan and Sophie, she had no chance.
"Hi, I'm Demi, an ordinary actress, not very famous," Caroline said.
"No, you're not just an ordinary actress now. You're my woman. You don't have to act; I'll support you. If you like acting, I'll invest in you. Our family has an entertainment company. I'll talk to Nathan and have you signed under it, making you the most popular actress!" Nick responded.
At the mention of Nathan, Caroline quickly waved her hand. "No need! I'm fine as I am now!"
Nick was completely puzzled by Caroline's thoughts.
No matter what gift he offered Caroline, she kept refusing him.
This completely overturned Nick's understanding of women. The women he remembered were all obsessed with jewelry, necklaces, and designer bags. Caroline, with her lack of desire, was the first he had encountered.
It was an unprecedented challenge for Nick; he was unable to understand it for a moment.
"If you don't want anything, then what is it that you truly long for?" Nick asked, full of confusion.
"I only long for my kids," Caroline answered firmly.
Nick was momentarily speechless. "The kids have always been with you. What do you mean by that?"
"But isn't that why you're here? You want to take them away, don't you?" Caroline questioned, her tone tinged with anger.
"I never said that. Why would I do that?" Nick feigned innocence.
Hearing Nick say this, Caroline felt slightly relieved but still needed to confirm. "You really won't take away my kids?"
"I won't!" Nick answered firmly.
"As long as you don't think about taking away them, we can be friends," Caroline replied, relieved.
Nick asked, "What do you mean? Can we only be friends?"
"What kind of relationship do you want us to have?" Caroline asked, warily eyeing Nick.
"Think about it. Five years ago, we had a night together and had children. Now we've reunited. Shouldn't we be a perfect, complete family?" Nick uttered.
Caroline understood Nick's thoughts. She didn't dislike Nick; in fact, compared to the cold and ruthless Nathan, Nick was more charming.
However, Nick was flamboyant, a typical playboy, and his promises were hard to believe.
"How about this? You arrange dinner, and we'll eat together tonight. Before that, I need to talk to the kids first to avoid any awkwardness when you meet," Caroline suggested.
"Why would it be awkward? I'm their father, so we're naturally close. How about we go pick up Ryan and Sophie from school directly?" Nick asked excitedly.
