Chapter 47
If Nathan bumped into Ryan and Sophie, he'd definitely notice how much they look like him.
Nathan would then try to figure out why Ryan and Sophie resemble him so much. Ryan and Sophie were probably his kids.
After that, they'd all become a legal family, and Caroline would suddenly be Nathan's partner.
Sarah felt like she could see a huge fortune just waiting for her to grab.
"Sarah, why aren't you driving? What are you daydreaming about?" Sophie's gentle voice snapped Sarah back to reality.
Sarah couldn't hide her excitement. "What did Mr. Kennedy say to you?"
"Nathan bought us gifts, chatted with us, gave us his contact info, and said we'd meet again," Sophie said proudly.
Ryan nodded slightly.
"You'll meet again?" Sarah asked.
Ryan and Sophie nodded together.
Sarah was thrilled, "So, you found your dad?"
"Nathan said he's not our dad but would help us find him," Sophie explained.
"Why did Nathan say that?" Sarah was confused.
Sophie and Ryan both shook their heads.
Sarah was dying to know more. "And then?"
"That's it," Sophie said, stuffing another piece of pastry into her mouth, her eyes sparkling with joy. "It's so delicious, I love it."
With tasty food in front of her, Sophie wasn't interested in talking and didn't mention the little incident of Nathan taking their hair. Ryan remembered but kept quiet.
"When are you meeting? I need to dress up," Sarah said eagerly.
Ryan and Sophie exchanged glances but didn't answer.
"What do you mean? You're not taking me? Are you going out with Nathan alone?" Sarah pressed.
Ryan and Sophie stayed silent, looking at her with innocent eyes.
Ryan and Sophie were unsure because Nathan had only agreed to take Caroline, and Sarah wasn't their biological mom. They hesitated about whether to bring Sarah along.
Sarah laughed at herself, "It's up to me. If you want to meet Nathan, don't I have to drive you? Or are you planning to walk there?"
Ryan and Sophie looked at each other again, feeling helpless.
As night fell, the city got busier, but Sarah was in a great mood. Even the traffic jam couldn't bring her down; she started humming a tune.
"Call your mom and see if she's off work. Tonight, I'll treat you to seafood to celebrate," Sarah suggested.
Sophie cheered from the back seat, excited about the food even though she didn't know what they were celebrating.
At 9 PM at the Kennedy Corp headquarters, Nathan finally wrapped up his meeting and walked out of the conference room. Shedding his black suit, he stood by the floor-to-ceiling window to stretch.
As the landmark of Aurora City, the Kennedy Corp building gave Nathan a panoramic view of the city's dazzling lights. He raised his hand to his nose, the faint scent of orange blossom gone after several washes.
It was this hand that had a faint scent only he could detect after high-fiving Sophie.
Nathan had quite the day. Meeting the adorable Ryan and Sophie had softened him up a bit.
He suddenly wondered what they were up to now.
Checking his watch, Nathan went back to his desk and made a video call to the Kennedy Corp headquarters in Stellaria.
When he couldn't find Nick at the office, he dialed Nick's private number. Nick picked up quickly, "Nathan? It's evening there, right? What's going on?"
"Where are you?" Nathan's voice was icy.
"Didn't you send me to Stellaria? Why ask?" Nick joked.
"I mean, where exactly are you? What are you doing?" Nathan pressed.
"Working, it's only 4 PM here. Not off work yet," Nick replied.
"Are you at the office?" Nathan asked.
"Where else? If not the office, then a bar?" Nick shot back.
"I just called the office and couldn't find you," Nathan's tone grew colder.
"I just stepped out to check on a project," Nick quickly changed his story.
"You're lying again! I sent you to Stellaria to train, not to mess around!" Nathan scolded.
"Nathan, with you holding up the Kennedy Family, I don't need to be as perfect as you! I'm already miserable being sent to Stellaria by you, so stop scolding me," Nick replied, sounding hurt.
"There are a pair of twins who look a lot like you. I need to confirm if they are your kids. Send some hair for a DNA test," Nathan instructed.
"Kids?" Nick was confused.
"Just do it, don't ask too many questions," Nathan said, getting impatient.
"We're twins; our DNA is the same. Why don't you use yours for the test?" Nick suggested.
Nathan realized that made sense and hung up after saying, "Work hard."
Nathan then called Jack and told him to handle the DNA test.
Jack was curious. "Did you find the kids? Is their mom pretty? You've always stayed away from women; how do you have kids?"
Nathan's stern look instantly killed Jack's curiosity.
Jack almost forgot, not everyone's secrets were to be pried into, especially not Nathan's.
At Aurora City International Airport, a bunch of fans holding flowers and idol nameplates crowded the international arrivals exit, like a well-orchestrated welcome party. Despite the officials beefing up security to keep order, the enthusiastic crowd still blocked the exit completely.
Caroline struggled on the outskirts, wondering which celebrity's fans were so over-the-top. The scene far surpassed Roxanne's reception; this must be someone incredibly popular.
"Sway, I adore you!" Female fans occasionally screamed, confessing their love.
"Sway, I only love you!" Male fans also declared passionately.
Caroline was secretly shocked at how popular Sway was.
She took out her phone and called Tony, "Why aren't you out yet? The fans at the airport are going nuts; I can't get in!"
"I'm almost there. They are not crazy fans. Are you belittling the star or looking down on the fans?" Tony retorted.
"Fans who chase stars irrationally are crazy fans. That's what the internet says. I'm not making it up. Why are you taking so long?" Caroline shot back.
