Chapter 167

Nick quickly turned around to close the door.

Caroline couldn't let him succeed; if the door closed, how would she get in?

So, the two of them started a tug-of-war, with one pushing from the outside and the other blocking from the inside. The scene became quite tense. But Nick, being a man, had more strength and eventually managed to close the door from the inside.

Caroline was furious. The Kennedy brothers were really ungentlemanly and too bullying!

What should she do now? Go back or keep knocking? She absolutely couldn't back down! If she let them win this time, they would only get more arrogant next time!

She was not someone who could be easily bullied!

Caroline started pounding on the door, knocking hard.

Two bodyguards came over again. "Miss, please keep quiet."

"I want to see the patient, and they won't let me in. What am I supposed to do if I don't knock?" Caroline asked irritably.

"Well..." The two bodyguards didn't know how to handle the situation.

"Step aside," Caroline said coldly.

"But Miss, if you keep making noise, it will be hard for us to explain," the two bodyguards said, looking troubled.

"Are you going to forcibly remove me? Do you know who I am?" Caroline raised an eyebrow.

"We know," the two bodyguards nodded.

"Good to know. I had some misunderstandings with them, but we'll sort it out. If you disrespect me, I'll make you pay!" Caroline threatened

Her tactic worked, and the two bodyguards looked at each other, not daring to say anything more.

Caroline continued to pound on the door.

The entire floor was very quiet, with no other patients, making the loud knocking sound particularly jarring. The people inside were probably on the verge of breaking down.

Finally, the door opened, and Nathan came out with an unhappy face.

Caroline thought he would say something, but he just walked straight to the elevator without a word.

Then Nick came out, looked at Caroline, and said, "Stop making a fuss! Come in."

Caroline finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She picked up the things she had bought at the supermarket and entered the ward.

"Sawyer, I'm here to see you!" Caroline called out loudly.

Sawyer laughed happily.

Caroline put down the things and turned to Sawyer, who was sitting on the hospital bed.

His face had gotten a bit chubbier, but he was still as handsome as ever.

"Do you still recognize me?" Caroline reached out and patted Sawyer's face.

"Yes!" Sawyer nodded happily, his eyes full of joy.

"Really?" Caroline was still skeptical.

In the jungle, Sawyer had been poisoned in the brain and had even called her "mom" and Nathan "dad" at the time.

"Yes," Sawyer nodded again.

"Who am I?" Caroline asked with a puzzled look.

"Demi!" Sawyer called out cheerfully.

"You really remember me! You're back to normal. That's great!" Caroline was teary-eyed, genuinely happy for Sawyer.

The friendship between her and Sawyer was hard for others to understand.

In her most difficult times, it was Sawyer who helped her through. She still owed him hundreds of thousands of dollars.

That kind of friendship forged in adversity is hard to describe in words; only those involved can understand its value.

Sawyer got up and hugged Caroline.

"From now on, you need to behave and keep your head on straight. Such a handsome young man like you, if you lose it, you'll break a lot of hearts." Caroline said, patting his back.

"Yes!" Sawyer agreed.

Caroline started taking out the things she had bought. "I know what you like to eat, so I bought these especially for you. Do you want some?"

"Okay," Sawyer said.

"Then I'll peel an apple for you. Your two uncles made me so mad. They wouldn't let me see you and blocked me outside the door. You know my temper; how could they stop me? I kept knocking on the door until they couldn't take it anymore and let me in. They don't understand the deep friendship between us, so I don't mind them!" Caroline rambled on, but she noticed that Sawyer seemed to be talking very little.

From the moment she entered, Sawyer had been very quiet.

This wasn't like him; he was known for being talkative.

"What's wrong with you? Why aren't you talking?" Caroline looked at Sawyer.

Sawyer just smiled.

"You're acting weird! Are you trying to be all deep and mysterious like Nathan? You used to talk a lot, but now you're just giving short replies. Don't be like him. If you do, I'm done talking to you!" Caroline warned.

Sawyer still gave a simple response to Caroline.

Then Caroline walked over and grabbed Sawyer's chin. "What's wrong with you? You used to talk non-stop when you saw me, but now you're so silent?"

Sawyer, with his chin grabbed by Caroline, looked pitiful.

Then his face turned red, from his ears to his neck.

"Why are you so shy? I'm not molesting you. What's going on? By seniority, I'm almost your uncle's wife, which makes me your elder. Why are you blushing?" Caroline shouted in confusion.

Sawyer's face turned even redder. "I'm not shy!"

"Look at you, you're stuttering, and you say you're not shy? Is your brain still not healed? Why are you like this?" Caroline said helplessly.

Sawyer took a deep breath, looking helpless. "To be honest, I..."

At this moment, the doctor knocked on the door, and came in for rounds.

Seeing Caroline, the doctor greeted her, and she smiled politely.

"Are you feeling better today?" the doctor asked Sawyer.

Sawyer just nodded without speaking.

"No, you have to speak up. The more you fear speaking, the worse your stuttering will get," the doctor said.

Caroline was shocked. So, the reason Sawyer was talking less was because of stuttering?

How could that be? Wasn't his brain injured? How did it leave him with a stuttering aftereffect?

No wonder he was talking so little; it was because of this!

Caroline felt heartbroken. Such a handsome Sawyer, a top-tier celebrity, if he became a stutterer, it would be such a pity!

Sawyer nodded helplessly.

"You're from the Kennedy family, right? You need to encourage him to talk more. His stuttering is an aftereffect. We've already contacted the best experts in the country, and they will come tomorrow for systematic treatment. But family support is crucial. You must help him relieve psychological pressure and encourage him to speak up. If he's too afraid to talk, the situation will only get worse, and no expert can cure him," the doctor explained.

Caroline nodded. "I will do my best to help him."
