Chapter 24
Caroline kept her mouth shut. She knew Roxanne would give her a hard time, so no surprises there.
From day one with this crew, Caroline had been walking on eggshells. But she never thought Roxanne would pull such a lame move like switching up the script just to mess with her.
To Caroline, that was just dumb. The script was William and the writing team's baby. Roxanne changed it at will, showing no respect for the crew's hard work.
She didn't say it, but everyone who worked on the script would be pissed. Roxanne had ticked off a lot of folks.
So Caroline, who got slapped, just watched with a cold stare and kept quiet.
"Think it's okay?" William asked Caroline.
"I'll go with whatever you say. If you're cool with it, so am I," Caroline replied with a smile.
Roxanne smirked, thinking one slap had put Caroline in her place, showing her who was boss.
"Alright, back to positions, action!" William shouted.
Megan said, "I swear I didn't take your necklace. I didn't steal it!"
Caroline, still keeping her cool, slapped her. "Still lying! If you don't hand over the necklace, I'll beat you up!"
"Stop!" Roxanne, as usual, added a line, rushed over, and slapped Caroline again.
This slap was even harder, making Caroline's face swell up more.
William and the cameraman winced just watching it.
A cold glint flashed in Caroline's eyes. "You dare to butt into my business! Are you in on this with her?"
As soon as she finished, she raised her hand and slapped Roxanne back.
Roxanne was stunned, not even reacting.
Caroline slapped her again. "I knew you were trouble. You bitch, hand over my necklace!"
"Cut!" William called out, stopping the chaos.
This was a mess, impossible to shoot.
William asked, "Demi, what are you doing? How can you hit Ms. Campbell?"
Caroline looked puzzled. "Wasn't the plot changed? In the script, I'm the villain, and Roxanne's character hit me. How could I not fight back? Plus, in this scene, the family's not home, and my character takes the chance to deal with the two sisters she's been jealous of forever. So right now, my character's in control. If she gets hit and doesn't fight back, it messes up the character's arc, right?"
"You're just getting back at me! Mr. Smith, are you gonna do something or not? If not, I'm out!" Roxanne fumed.
William quickly tried to calm her down. "Ms. Campbell, don't be mad. Demi's out of line. I'll make her change."
He turned and yelled at Demi, "You can't change the script! Stick to it!"
Caroline looked innocent. "I didn't change it; Ms. Campbell did. I was just going along."
An assistant rushed over with ice for Roxanne's face.
Roxanne, furious, threw the ice on the ground. She thought teaming up with Megan would make Caroline suffer, but Caroline was fine and even fought back hard.
Just then, there was a buzz among the staff. "Mr. Kennedy is here!"
Caroline looked up and saw that handsome yet stone-cold face, looking a lot like Ryan and Sophie.
Roxanne burst into tears and ran to Nathan. "Mr. Kennedy, you have to stand up for me. That woman used the filming as an excuse to get back at me, changed the script, and made my face swell."
Nathan's cold gaze swept over Roxanne's face, seeing the clear finger marks.
His already icy stare got even colder. After all, Roxanne was his so-called girlfriend, and Caroline hitting her was like a slap to his face too.
