Chapter 136

"I disagree with you. Everyone is an independent individual and has the right to keep their own secrets. As long as these secrets don't harm others, they should be respected, right?" Nick insisted.

Nathan didn't respond; arguing late at night was not his intention.

The moments they shared drinking were rare, and he didn't want to ruin the atmosphere.

Nathan had never revealed Caroline's negative deeds to Nick; he simply wanted to protect him.

If it came to a conflict with Caroline, especially over custody of the children, Nathan was willing to play the "bad guy" to spare Nick from direct confrontation.

If Caroline and Nick could avoid falling out, it would be better for the children's development. Parental conflict can be traumatic and leave children confused about how to handle the family divide. Nathan didn't want the children to suffer.Even if Nick was unaware of Caroline's actions, he had his own ways to prevent the relationship from advancing.

"I admit I'm not a good person, but I truly believe Demi has had it tough. She deserves what she should get," Nick said passionately.

"Like what?"

"Her status. She should at least be able to formally dine with the Kennedy Family," Nick said seriously.

"Is that what she wants? Has she mentioned it to you?"

"No, she doesn't care about that. She just wants the kids."

"What if that's just a facade? She's a skilled actress, both on and off the stage."

"Nathan!" Nick stood up abruptly. "Why are you so biased against Demi?"

Nathan tried to calm him down, signaling him to stay composed.

"What do you like about her?" Nathan asked.

"She's beautiful, and she's the mother of my children. If I marry her, the family will be complete," Nick answered straightforwardly.

"If it weren't for the children, would you still marry her?"

Nick became more agitated. "Nathan, why are you asking the same questions as Grandpa? Isn't this kind of hypothetical boring?"

Nathan remained calm and took another sip of his drink. "You don't love her; you're just trying to fulfill an obligation because she gave birth to Ryan and Sophie. Nick, this isn't right. You should marry a woman of good character, not let a scheming woman into the Kennedy Family just because she had your children. Someone with bad intentions could bring disaster to our family. Think about what Caroline did to her own mother. If someone like that entered the Kennedy Family, the consequences would be unimaginable."

"Nathan, you're exaggerating! This is your prejudice! We're twins; I thought you'd consider my feelings, but you don't. You're destroying my happiness because of your bias!" Alcohol made Nick's emotions even more uncontrollable.

"You're drunk. Go rest, and we'll talk when you're sober."

"No! We need to clear this up tonight. Why does everyone have a bias against her? Is it easy for a weak woman to raise children alone? Why does everyone think she has ulterior motives? If you think the woman I chose is flawed, what about yours? Roxanne, the one you picked, is the truly vicious one. She nearly killed my kids. Maybe you should reconsider your own judgment."Normally, Nick wouldn't dare argue so bluntly with Nathan, but alcohol made him fearless.

Nathan's eyes were intense as he downed another glass of wine. He drank too quickly, and when he reached for more, the bottle was empty. Frustrated, he shook the bottle to make sure, then slammed it down on the stone table."I'll handle the Roxanne situation."

Nathan paced a few steps, then returned. "Think about this. Get ready and head back to the headquarters in Stellaria tomorrow to take care of some unfinished business. You left in a hurry last time, and some matters need to be wrapped up."

Nick became more agitated. "You want me to go back to Stellaria again? Are you deliberately using this to stop me from being with Demi?"

"You're just going to handle some things and then come back. It's not a long-term plan," Nathan said coldly.

"Then I'll go to Stellaria after I get married."

"Why are you in such a hurry?" Nathan's tone also became slightly impatient.

"I'll go to Stellaria after I get the marriage certificate with Caroline. Once the matters are handled, we'll have the wedding."

"No, you must leave immediately. If you don't go, forget about getting married! " Nathan's tone was indisputable.

Nick knew Nathan's capabilities; with just one word, no one would dare defy.

"Fine, I'll go to Stellaria, but I must get married when I return!"

"Go quietly, and don't let anyone know."

"Why is that?"

Nathan didn't explain further. "Remember, only your secretary and I should know you're going to Stellaria. Not even Grandpa should know."

Nick was stunned. What scheme was Ryan planning this time?

The next morning, Nathan entered the office with a refreshed look.

Today, he would be meeting an important guest, William, the producer and director of "Thunder2." Normally, it wouldn't be easy for someone of William's level to get a personal meeting with Nathan, but given the importance of "Thunder2" to him, Nathan granted a precious fifteen minutes.

Seeing Nathan, William couldn't help but feel nervous. Nathan seemed to carry an aura of pressure that was hard to ignore.

"William, Mr. Kennedy has fifteen minutes. Get straight to the point," Jack said, staring directly at William.

"The production is currently at a standstill, and the main cast is missing. I wanted to ask how we should proceed," William said humbly.

"Remove all of Roxanne's scenes and reshoot with a new actress," Nathan said concisely.

"Delete all of them?" William was stunned.

Nathan never repeated himself.

"Don't ask again. Just follow the instructions," Jack said firmly.

"We can't reach Sawyer either. What about his scenes?"

"He will return at the right time. Put his scenes on hold for now," Nathan replied calmly.

"Removing Roxanne's scenes will require reshooting many scenes and significantly revising the script. The shooting schedule will be extended, and the budget might not be enough," William said, his voice lowering at the mention of finances.

"I'll cover the related losses," Nathan said coldly but decisively.

William felt relieved and said, "I'll arrange for the resumption of work immediately. Do you have any recommendations for the new second female lead?"

"Choose the hottest actress at the moment," Nathan directed.

"The most popular is naturally Roxanne, but she..."

Nathan's face suddenly darkened. "Is there no other popular actress besides her?"
