Chapter 190
"Don't cry; let's go," Nathan said.
The bodyguard was nearby, and Nathan didn't ask much. He didn't want others to know too much about Caroline.
So he forcibly helped Caroline up from the ground and pulled her into the car. To prevent her from getting out again, Nathan sat next to her.
Caroline was still crying, heartbroken.
"Don't cry; it's all over." Under Nathan's gentle comfort, the emotionally agitated Caroline gradually calmed down, then tilted her head and fell asleep again.
For some reason, Caroline, who had been so sad before, was now sleeping so peacefully without any fuss, which made Nathan feel relieved.
Finally, they arrived in Aurora City, and Nathan had the driver take them directly to the South Court No.1 Hotel.
When Caroline woke up, she still seemed a bit tipsy, but she looked much better.
Nathan was about to help her back to her room to rest, but she complained about being hungry.
She even squatted at the elevator entrance, refusing to get in, loudly demanding food.
She might really be a bit hungry, as she had only been drinking at Willowbrook Hills and hadn't eaten much. She had also vomited on the way, leaving her stomach empty.
"What do you want to eat now?" Nathan asked.
"Ice cream!" Caroline answered without hesitation.
Nathan thought to himself, so Sophie's love for ice cream was inherited from her?
Nathan instructed the staff, "Go get us some ice cream."
The staff immediately went to handle it.
To avoid gossip, Nathan didn't enter Caroline's room but took her to the hotel restaurant.
There was 24-hour service here, and Nathan thought that besides ice cream, Caroline needed to eat something else.
He had the restaurant staff make a bowl of pasta for Caroline. Caroline was very happy, but she couldn't hold the fork steadily and couldn't get the pasta into her mouth.
There was no choice but to give her a different fork, which she barely managed to use to get the pasta into her mouth.
She ate happily, alternating between bites of pasta and ice cream.
"Are you still drunk? It's been so long and you're not sober yet?" Nathan asked with a frown.
Caroline shook her head firmly. "I'm not drunk."
"You're still pretending not to be drunk?" Nathan was angry.
"I didn't drink; how could I be drunk?" Caroline said coquettishly.
This coquettishness only proved that she was indeed drunk. From what Nathan knew of her, she would never act coquettishly in front of him.
"Alright then." Nathan didn't want to bother with her, so he got a bottle of whiskey and started drinking by himself.
At Willowbrook Hills, he had hardly drunk, and no one dared to persuade him to drink.
But today, after a long day, he was indeed very tired. Now back in Aurora City, he just wanted a drink to relieve some fatigue, then have a good sleep, and be in better shape for work tomorrow.
Caroline stared at Nathan's drink, eagerly saying, "I want to drink too."
Nathan glared at her. "You want to drink in your current state?"
"I don't care; I want to drink!" Caroline started acting coquettishly again.
"Stop it, my patience is limited!" Nathan took a big gulp and said coldly.
"Let me have a sip; I've never tasted this kind of drink."
Caroline's eyes sparkled as she looked at the drink in the glass, looking very greedy.
"This is whiskey, and it's very strong. It's not suitable for you." Nathan explained.
"I can handle my liquor!" Caroline wobbled as she stood up from her chair, walked over to Nathan, and reached out to grab the bottle.
Was she crazy?
"Stop it, finish eating and go to sleep!"
"I want a glass." Caroline was relentless, insisting on drinking.
Caroline insisted on drinking, while Nathan tried to avoid her. She kept getting closer, making the situation very awkward.
There were a few tables of guests having a late-night snack in the restaurant, all watching they making a scene.
This was a high-end hotel, and the customers were very well-mannered. Although they watched with great interest, they didn't make a fuss, just observed from a distance.
But Nathan still felt very embarrassed, and given his high profile, the likelihood of being recognized was high. He needed to end this farce quickly.
"Stop it!" Nathan was already very angry.
"Let me drink, and I won't make a fuss." Caroline insisted.
Nathan was helpless, thinking, 'She is really too difficult to deal with. Fine, if she wants to drink, let her drink.'
"Sit down, I'll let you drink." Nathan said.
Caroline finally sat down and stopped making a fuss, but she was clearly still drunk, her eyes were blurry, and her posture was not proper.
Nathan poured a large glass and handed it to Caroline, thinking, 'After drinking this, she should pass out.'
Caroline took the drink and gulped down a big mouthful.
Then she frowned. "This is so strong; it's really hard to drink!"
Nathan sneered, "Weren't you the one insisting on drinking? Now you find it too strong? Keep drinking!"
Actually, Caroline had already drunk a lot with that big gulp.
So she didn't want to drink anymore. "I won't drink; it's really bad!"
Then she pushed the half-full glass to Nathan. "You drink!"
Nathan thought, 'Is she serious? She has half left and wants me to drink it?'
"Drink it." Caroline pointed at Nathan with her finger.
Nathan was furious. She was really rude when drunk, crying and making a fuss, now pointing at him, forcing him to drink!
Of course, Nathan wouldn't drink the leftover drink, he angrily picked up the bottle and took a big gulp directly from it.
Caroline watched Nathan drink and giggled. "You look really handsome when you drink. I like it!"
Nathan was stunned again.
"Are you Nathan or Nick?" Caroline squinted, trying to see clearly, but it was always a bit blurry.
"Nathan." Nathan replied coldly.
"Yes, you're the cold and distant Nathan. Nick doesn't wear black clothes." Caroline remembered this point.
Nathan was a bit annoyed. He picked up the bottle again and took a big swig.
"Actually, I can tell you and Nick apart without looking at the clothes." Caroline said proudly.
"Really?"
"Because you always look so cold and expressionless, unlike Nick." Caroline laughed even more.
Nathan's face looked even worse.
"What I find strange is, why doesn't Nick have an N on his shirt buttons?" Caroline tried hard to hold up her chin, not letting her heavy head droop.
"What are you talking about?"
"The letter buttons on the shirt. I've kept the button for a long time, I'll show you," Caroline said as she tried to get her bag, but lost control and fell to the ground.
Caroline tried to get her bag, but lost control and fell to the ground.
Nathan quickly helped her up. "Is the button in your bag?"
"Yes." Caroline went to get her bag again.
With Nathan's help, she finally opened the bag and found the shirt button in the wallet compartment.
Nathan recognized it immediately; it was his button.
In this world, only his shirts used these custom buttons, designed by a specialist, with no one else using them.
