Chapter 15

Caroline kept going, "Don't yank me away. I gotta say this. It's been hard to produce good shows in recent years because capital controls everything. They decide an actor's fate based on their own whims. He's just a clueless rich dude!"

The more Caroline ranted, the more pissed Nathan got. He thought, 'Where does this chick get off questioning my skills in front of everyone?'

Nathan didn't say a word. He was a man of few words, and since he got here, he hadn't said a thing.

He barely talked to people. In his mind, smart folks kept quiet, and those who yapped all the time were just regular folks.

Nathan gave a slight nod to his bodyguards to get Caroline outta there.

"You're just throwing your weight around," Caroline kept cursing, all fired up.

"Mr. Kennedy, please give her a shot," Roxanne suddenly jumped in, pleading.

Nathan looked at Roxanne, his eyes asking her why.

"She said before that she has to get this role. If she doesn't, she'll hire trolls online to trash me. She'll also say I got the role by sleeping with you. If she's this bold in front of everyone, she'll definitely stir up more trouble in private. Mr. Kennedy, just give her the role, or she won't let it go." Roxanne's words were meant to tick Nathan off even more.

Roxanne had noticed Nathan's soft spot for Caroline. If she hadn't told the assistant director to spread those rumors about her intention of sleeping with Nathan, Caroline would've already snagged the second female lead.

Now Caroline was cursing Nathan to his face, but he wasn't blowing up. This made Roxanne a bit worried, afraid Nathan would actually give Caroline the role.

So Roxanne wanted to completely piss Nathan off. If he got mad, Caroline wouldn't just lose this role; she'd be blacklisted from the entertainment industry for good.

She wanted to use Nathan to totally crush Caroline, giving her no chance to bounce back. But she underestimated him.

Nathan ran Kennedy Corp, not by luck. Even though he didn't like to show it, he understood people really well.

Roxanne's act right now showed her true colors to Nathan instantly. He could be generous, but he hated being played.

He saw through her intentions. He wasn't gonna let her win.

He looked at Roxanne, then at Caroline. Then he nodded.

Everyone was stunned again, thinking, 'Mr. Kennedy nods, so he agrees with Roxanne? Letting this chick who defies him play the second female lead?'

William couldn't believe it and quickly asked, "Mr. Kennedy, do you mean to let Demi play the second female lead?"

Nathan still didn't speak, just nodded again. Then he didn't stick around, striding out and leaving everyone with a cold shoulder.

Sarah found her forehead covered in sweat. She'd been in the entertainment industry for a while and had heard countless stories about Nathan, but she'd never seen him. She only knew he was cold and decisive, his word was law.

Those who crossed him would vanish from the entertainment industry, not even getting a chance to be an extra.

So when Caroline cursed Nathan to his face, Sarah thought she was toast. But then the plot twisted. Not only did Nathan not go after her, but he also gave Caroline a shot. She thought this was thanks to that annoying Roxanne.

Anyway, landing this role was a huge win. Next, she had to talk about something important with Caroline: why Ryan and Sophie looked so much like Nathan.
