Chapter 23

When everyone was drooling over Caroline's looks, Roxanne was busy checking her watch.

The nasty stuff in the foundation would kick in about ten minutes, starting with some itching, then redness, and finally swelling.

From the start of makeup to the end, it definitely took more than ten minutes. And since the foundation went on first, the effects should start showing before the makeup had even done. But makeup haddone, and Caroline still looked bomb.

Megan was also giving Roxanne a worried look, but Roxanne gave her a sharp look, signaling that they shouldn't interact too much, or it would arouse suspicion.

The first scene was a showdown between Roxanne and Caroline.

Caroline's character, the older sister, felt totally ignored by her parents after her two younger sisters were born. This messed her up mentally, making her hate Roxanne's character, the second oldest, and Megan's character, the youngest.

This hate festered from childhood into adulthood, peaking on a rainy day when she shoved her sisters into a lake while they weren't paying attention.

So, Caroline's character was the bad guy, and after failing to off her sisters, she kept trying to ruin their lives in different ways.

To spice up the first scene, William picked a bit where Caroline's character falsely accused Megan's character of stealing a necklace. Caroline's character was supposed to slap Megan's character, and Roxanne's character would step in to break it up.

In this scene, William wanted Caroline to show a mix of evil and inner conflict, while Roxanne's role was pretty straightforward—a sweet, rich girl who loves her family. Megan's character was the one getting smacked around by Caroline.

Everything was set.

"Thunder 2, Scene 1, Take 1, Action!"

In the yard, Megan begged Caroline, "I swear, I didn't take your necklace. It wasn't me."

Caroline raised her hand and slapped her. "Still lying! If you don't give it back, I'll beat you up!"

Even though it looked intense, the slap on Megan's face was actually light. Just some acting magic, making it look real without actually hurting.

Next, Roxanne was supposed to grab Caroline's arm and gently talk her down. But Roxanne didn't do that. She stormed over and slapped Caroline hard across the face.

Unlike Caroline's fake slap, Roxanne's was the real deal. One slap, and you could see five finger marks on Caroline's face!

Everyone was shocked. This wasn't in the script. Megan's character was supposed to be the sweet, kind one, not someone who'd hit back.

Caroline was stunned too. "Mr. Smith, she's not following the script!"

William quickly called for a stop. "Ms. Campbell, this isn't how the scene goes. Did you forget the script?"

"The original script sucked. Since I'm the protagonist, I need to be tough to protect my sisters and family. So I made a little change," Roxanne said.

All the staff exchanged glances. Changing the script on the spot? They didn't know that was even possible!

"Ms. Campbell, if the script needs changing, you should let us know," William said, clearly annoyed.

Even though she was a big star, it was William, the director, who called the shots on the script. What she did was super disrespectful.

"The script shouldn't hold back a good show. Great shows need some spontaneous improv. Classic scenes aren't planned; they just happen, right?" Roxanne put her hands on her hips and started lecturing William.

William was ticked off but didn't want to piss off Roxanne, since she was Nathan's girlfriend.
