Chapter 191

Nathan carefully examined the button in his hand, wondering, 'How did Caroline get his shirt button?'

"Where did this come from?" Nathan asked, holding up the button.

Caroline smirked mischievously. "I'm not telling you."

"Why do you have a button from my shirt?" Nathan asked again, his tone turning cold.

Caroline ignored him, playfully tilted her head, and leaned on the table, closing her eyes.

Nathan continued to press, nudging her head.

Caroline couldn't hold it in any longer and waved her hand impatiently. "Annoying! Stop bothering me!"

"Tell me and I'll let you sleep," Nathan continued to tease her.

"So annoying!" Still tipsy from earlier and after a half glass of whiskey, Caroline felt extremely sleepy and just wanted to get some rest.

"Tell me, or you won't sleep!" Nathan wouldn't let her off.

"Fine, I found it on the bed at the club, okay?" Caroline finally confessed.

"What?" Nathan was confused.

"The owner of the button is the father of my two kids," Caroline's voice grew fainter as she drifted off to sleep.

No matter how much Nathan nudged her, Caroline wouldn't say another word.

Nathan repeatedly looked at the button in his hand. It was indeed from his shirt. His buttons weren't mass-produced; only his clothes had the "N" mark. The clothes he wore were from a custom batch made years ago, very distinctive.

Caroline's words about the button's owner being the father of her children echoed in Nathan's mind, leaving him restless.

Nathan waved to the waiter outside. "Get a couple of people to take Caroline to her room to rest."

"Yes, Mr. Kennedy."

Nathan naturally wouldn't carry Caroline to the room himself, as it would cause unnecessary gossip, especially since he was Caroline's children's uncle. After giving the instructions, he left and returned to Elegant Mountain Estate.

Late at night, after washing up, Nathan lay in bed and took out the button again, comparing it to his shirt, confirming they were identical. The button Caroline gave him was heavily worn, but its unique material was still recognizable.

Because of this button, Nathan couldn't sleep that night.

In the morning, despite a sleepless night, Nathan got up on time to prepare for work. Today's meeting was important and couldn't be delayed because of his insomnia.

Meanwhile, Caroline turned over in bed and continued to sleep. Her phone alarm had long since died and shut off, so it didn't ring. Caroline finally woke up from hunger, her stomach growling loudly.

She was not only hungry but also thirsty, feeling like she had trekked through a desert for days. After drinking a bottle of water, she finally felt better. She glanced at the clock on the wall; it was already noon!

Caroline pulled open the curtains, letting in the bright sunlight. She stretched lazily, feeling refreshed, as if she hadn't had such a good night's sleep in ages. She tried to recall the events of the previous night, but her memory only went as far as the appreciation banquet at Willowbrook Hills. She couldn't remember anything after that.

She didn't worry too much about it; as long as she was back, it was fine. After washing up, she went to the hotel restaurant for a buffet, enjoying the sumptuous meal to her heart's content.

After eating, she charged her phone and found several missed calls, mostly from Sarah.

Caroline quickly called back, and Sarah immediately started scolding, "Do you even know what time it is?"

Caroline replied, "What's up? If there's nothing, don't bother me."

"Why didn't you answer my calls?"

"My phone died and shut off."

"Why didn't you charge it?"

"I was drunk, just woke up and had something to eat."

"Where are you now?"

"South Court No.1 Hotel."

"Living the life of a rich lady, staying at a seven-star hotel? How much per night?"

"I'm just in a regular room, $3,800 a night. I can't afford it; Nathan covered it for now."

"Nathan? You're staying with Nathan? Oh my God!" Sarah exclaimed.

"Calm down. I'm staying alone. Nathan is my children's uncle. What are you thinking?"

"True, you can't. If it were me, I'd already be staying with him."

"Shameless!"

"Better to have dreams than none at all. Who wouldn't want that? So many women in Aurora City are eyeing Nathan, I'm not hiding it."

"Can you be serious? Did you call just to gossip?"

"The crew starts work today. They were supposed to notify you for filming this morning, but couldn't reach you. We'll start in the afternoon. I'll come pick you up."

"No need, I'll take a cab."

"No way, I've never stayed in a seven-star hotel. I have to experience it this time."

Caroline laughed. "Alright, come on over. I'll treat you to the buffet; it's delicious!"

Sarah got even more excited. "I'll throw away my takeout and come over to try it!"
