Chapter 78

Caroline spoke calmly but nailed it. She not only shut down Roxanne but also gave William a boost.

With Caroline's praise, William wasn't about to just go along with Roxanne anymore.

The place went dead quiet. Even Roxanne's supporters didn't dare to chime in. They might risk ticking off Caroline for Roxanne, but not William. So, they just stayed quiet and watched.

"Roxanne, the crew's budget is tight. We gotta save on props where we can. These flowers will do for now. We'll clear them after the shoot; it won't affect you," William said with a forced smile.

"William, are you trying to make things hard for me? Fine, I'll call Mr. Kennedy right now and have him tell you himself," Roxanne threatened, trying to use Nathan to pressure William.

She was bluffing. She barely had any direct contact with Nathan, let alone get him to back her up. But William didn't know that and was momentarily stunned.

"Roxanne, there's no need to bother Mr. Kennedy over something so small. Let's talk this through," William pleaded hurriedly.

"Move the flowers, or I'll tell Mr. Kennedy you're screwing things up," Roxanne ordered coldly.

"Such arrogance, all because you have a man backing you," Caroline couldn't stand it anymore and mocked.

"That's right, I rely on a man. So what? My man is the most powerful in all of Aurora City. Whether you like it or not, you have to deal with it!" Roxanne shot back arrogantly.

Caroline sneered and was about to retort when another vehicle pulled up.

The people who got out quickly unloaded rolled-up red carpets.

As the carpets were laid out, everyone was puzzled. Why flowers and red carpets today? What big event was happening?

"What are you doing? We're filming here," William tried to stop them.

"We're employees of the Kennedy Family. Just following orders," the person laying the red carpet replied without expression.

Hearing they were from the Kennedy Family, William fell silent.

Roxanne, on the other hand, was thrilled. With the Kennedy Family people here, her confidence soared. She was set to marry into the Kennedy Family. If they were laying out a red carpet, it must mean a big shot was arriving, and she guessed it was probably Nathan.

But Nathan was always low-key. Why would he do something so flashy? He was legendary in Aurora City, not needing the pomp of a red carpet.

Besides Nathan, who else could show up like this?

Once the red carpet was laid, the staff reported through their walkie-talkies, and soon a Lamborghini sped in. The driver skillfully drifted to a perfect stop right at the edge of the red carpet.

The staff stood respectfully by, and the car door slowly lifted, revealing a man stepping out.

It was Nick.

"Mr. Kennedy?" William exclaimed in surprise.

Everyone held their breath, watching the extraordinarily handsome man in a white suit.

But something seemed off. Today's Nathan lacked the overwhelming aura he usually had. When Nathan appeared, the air would usually feel heavy, but today, that pressure was absent.

Though the man in the white suit was handsome, he lacked the imposing presence that Nathan usually exuded.

Sure enough, they all mistook Nick for Nathan.

"Darling, you're here," Roxanne called out sweetly, rushing towards Nick.

"Damn, Nathan's here. Roxanne's gonna make a scene again," Sarah whispered.

"That's not Nathan," Caroline whispered back.

"What? How can you tell?" Sarah asked, puzzled.

"I can't explain it. It's just a feeling, maybe an illusion," Caroline shook her head, doubting herself.

As Roxanne was about to get close to Nick, he raised his hand to stop her.

"Who are you? Why are you so impulsive?" Nick frowned.

Sure enough, he knew this was Nathan's rumored girlfriend, but he pretended not to recognize her. In his eyes, this woman wasn't worthy of Nathan. Though she was beautiful, she lacked some qualities.

Roxanne froze in an attitude of confusion about what Nick meant.

Despite the awkwardness, she maintained her smile. "Mr. Kennedy, you had time to visit today. Why didn't you notify us in advance?"

"Why should I announce my arrival? I come here when I want," Nick replied.

"Nathan is unusually talkative today. Something feels off," Sarah muttered.

"He's not Nathan," Caroline was now certain.

Just by looking into Nick's eyes, Caroline could tell he wasn't Nathan. It was like how Sophie could wear boy's clothes, and outsiders might not tell her apart from Ryan, but Caroline could.

Their eyes and aura were completely different.

The man here had an aura similar to Sophie's but entirely different from Ryan's, while Nathan had an aura identical to Ryan's.

Caroline had a good idea of who this man was.

Roxanne quickly tried to grab Nick's arm, but he subtly avoided her.

Now Roxanne was truly panicking. She had been deeply affected by the rose incident and was desperate to regain her dignity in front of everyone. Seeing Nick, she mistook him for Nathan and immediately tried to get close.

But even if it were Nathan himself, he probably wouldn't have allowed such intimacy.

Roxanne had gone all out, but unfortunately, she had lost this time, which plunged the atmosphere into a subtle awkwardness.

At this moment, Nick, in his white suit, scanned the crowd as if looking for someone.

William was full of confusion. Sawyer wasn't here today, so logically, the most notable people here were him and Roxanne. Who was he looking for?

Not only William but everyone else found it unbelievable.

Although Nathan had visited the set before, he had never made such a grand entrance with a red carpet.

Today, not only was there a red carpet, but Nathan also started looking around as soon as he arrived, completely different from his usual composed demeanor.

Nick's gaze finally landed on Caroline's fresh and elegant face, and Caroline happened to be looking his way. Their eyes met, but Caroline didn't look away.

Compared to the always cold Nathan, the man lacked that oppressive aura, which made Caroline feel much more at ease.

"Darling, there you are! I've finally found you!" Nick suddenly exclaimed with joy, rushing towards Caroline.

Everyone was stunned.

What was going on?

Caroline was equally shocked. Was he going to hug her?

In a panic, Caroline pulled Sarah in front of her.

Nick had intended to give Caroline a warm hug but had to stop abruptly when Sarah blocked his way.

Sarah was almost embraced by "Nathan", her perfect male idol, feeling both excited and slightly disappointed.

Nick continued, "Darling, I've missed you so much all these years."
