Chapter 59

Sawyer was juggling food and had been so swamped he hadn't even grabbed lunch.

"Feeling any better? Get up and stretch a bit. Let's eat first, then we can have some fun!" Sawyer suggested.

Caroline shot back, "Nah, not feeling it."

Sarah thought Caroline's bluntness was a bit much and quickly changed the topic. "Let's eat, we can chat about other stuff later."

Caroline started feeling better and realized she was starving.

The food turned out to be surprisingly good, and both Caroline and Sarah couldn't stop raving about it. "This food is amazing, so tasty!"

"This was made by the head chef from Moonlight Garden Restaurant. I had it delivered special. This chef has even cooked for state banquets. How could it not be good?" Sawyer explained.

"Wow, a state banquet chef's skills are no joke," Sarah marveled.

"Don't buy into his hype. We're just so hungry that anything would taste good right now," Caroline said while munching.

"You never appreciate anything. That's what bugs me the most about you!" Sawyer protested.

"If you weren't my creditor, I wouldn't even deal with you," Caroline shot back.

"I saved your butt today. Without me, you wouldn't have made it halfway. How can someone be so ungrateful? It's maddening," Sawyer shouted.

"Exactly, she's always like this. She lives with me, eats my food, and never says thanks!" Sarah chimed in.

"You two live together?" Sawyer's eyes widened in surprise.

"She's my agent. We just use each other," Caroline replied sharply.

Amid their banter, the room filled with laughter.

But suddenly, there was a commotion outside. Sarah glanced over and saw the hallway packed with people—hospital staff, patients, some with crutches, some with IVs—all gathered at Caroline's door.

As soon as the door opened, a woman rushed in, "Sawyer, it's really you! I finally get to see you in person!"

Only then did Sawyer realize he had forgotten to wear his mask and had been recognized!

News of Sawyer being in the hospital spread like wildfire, and doctors, nurses, patients, and even family members all swarmed in!

Seeing no way out, Sawyer stood up. "Let's talk outside. My friend is sick, and this is disturbing her rest. We can go outside, and you can ask me anything you want."

Before Sawyer could finish, the woman next to him suddenly kissed him on the cheek.

At the Kennedy Corp headquarters, Nathan looked at the entertainment report Jack had handed him, his face darkening.

"I asked William. Mr. Rivera and that actress were at the hospital because she had a sudden issue during filming, and he took her there. It happened so fast that Mr. Rivera probably didn't have time to disguise himself and got recognized by fans," Jack explained, but before he could finish, his phone rang.

"It's Roxanne calling," Jack said.

Roxanne knew it was tough to reach Nathan directly, so she called Jack instead.

Nathan, with a stern look, signaled Jack to answer.

Jack hit the answer button and put it on speaker. "Hey, Ms. Campbell."

"Is that you, Jack? Is Mr. Kennedy available? I need to talk to him," Roxanne's voice came through.

Jack glanced at Nathan, who signaled with his eyes.

Jack got the hint, "Mr. Kennedy is in a meeting. Is there something I can pass along to him, Ms. Campbell?"

"The crew had to stop filming today because of Demi. The male lead showed up, and Demi started dropping hints at Sawyer left and right. She even faked being sick to get Sawyer to take her to the hospital. Sawyer didn't want to, but he couldn't shake her off, so he took her. Then he got photographed at the hospital, causing the crew to halt work, and now everyone's complaining. I think Mr. Kennedy needs to know since it's his investment," Roxanne finished and waited for a response.

"Got it, I'll let Mr. Kennedy know. Anything else?" Jack asked.

"Demi's causing too much trouble. If this keeps up, it's gonna mess with the crew's progress. Jack, when you get a chance, could you suggest to Mr. Kennedy to think about replacing her?" Roxanne suggested.

"I'm just an assistant. I don't have any say in Mr. Kennedy's decisions," Jack replied.

As dusk settled, Sawyer's phone rang, breaking the silence. It was a summons from Nathan.

Walking into the office, Sawyer couldn't help but blurt out, "This place is so stylish."

Sawyer didn't realize that behind the fancy decor was the fallout from Nick being sent to Stellaria. Noticing Nathan's displeased look, Sawyer quickly stuck out his tongue and switched to a more subdued tone. "Nathan, you needed something?"

Nathan's face was grim as he raised the tablet in his hand, showing a picture of Sawyer getting kissed on the cheek by the woman. The image had already shot up to third place in trending topics.

The second trending topic was a picture of Sawyer smiling and taking a photo with an injured person in the hallway; the top trending topic was a picture of Sawyer holding Caroline's hand as they walked off the set, even though Caroline's profile was a bit blurry.

Roxanne had also taken this picture but hadn't made it public, using it only for complaints. Instead, someone on set had shared the photo on Facebook, leading to a frenzy of shares and making it a top trending topic.

No one had expected that the incident with Caroline would suddenly put the long-quiet Sawyer back in the spotlight. These three images pointed to Sawyer's suspected romance, the surprise kiss from a woman, and his photo with a patient, sparking curiosity among netizens and fans.

Especially Sawyer's love life, which became a hot topic, much to Nathan's annoyance.

During the first audition, Nathan had received subtle messages from Caroline through her assistant. Later, Nathan had a misunderstanding when he saw Caroline with the assistant director at the hotel.

And now, Caroline had directly approached Sawyer, which undoubtedly crossed Nathan's line.

Nathan lightly tapped the hand-holding photo on the tablet, signaling Sawyer to explain.

Sawyer explained, "Nathan, she's an actress from the crew, Demi. She got sick, and the director wouldn't approve her leave, so I took her to the hospital."

Nathan's face grew darker. It seemed Roxanne was right; Demi had pretended to be sick to get Sawyer's attention. What was even more infuriating was that Sawyer hadn't initially gotten involved; it was only after Demi's persistent pestering that he reluctantly took her to the hospital. Demi was cunning, knowing that leveraging Sawyer's popularity would boost her fame.

"She got sick, and you got all worked up?" Nathan questioned.
