Chapter 75

"Seriously, you think I should take the money? Do you even have a heart? Would I sell my own kids for cash?" Caroline snapped.

Sarah sighed, "Look, if the Kennedy Family really wants to take them, you probably don't stand a chance."

Caroline nodded, "Yeah, I get that. That's why I don't want to cut ties with Nathan completely."

"If it comes to that, you might as well get the money. If he can take the kids without paying, isn't it better to get something? Taking the money doesn't mean you're selling your kids. You can use it for their good, right? How much is he offering?" Sarah pressed on.

Caroline felt a bit helpless; Sarah was still stuck on the money!

"Stop talking about money. I will never let him take my kids! Ryan and Sophie are mine, and no one is taking them away!" Caroline snapped again.

"Don't worry, I've always got your back," Sarah reassured her.

Nathan walked into the hall at Kennedy Manor, Elegant Mountain Estate, where his grandfather, Aiden Kennedy, was already waiting.

Despite being over seventy, Aiden was still full of energy, his eyes sharp, showing no signs of aging.

"Grandpa, you wanted to see me?" Nathan greeted respectfully.

"Sit down," Aiden gestured.

Nathan sat down, legs together, back straight.

"Relax, no need to be so tense," Aiden said.

But Nathan couldn't relax; being called late at night meant something big.

Nathan had a bad feeling.

"Grandpa, it's late. If you have something to say, please go ahead. You should rest early too," Nathan spoke directly.

Aiden started, "Alright, Nathan, you are undoubtedly the most outstanding of the Kennedy family."

This was Aiden's usual opener, a bit of praise to ease the tension.

Nathan didn't respond; he knew the real talk was coming.

"I've received a few calls recently, all complaining about you, saying you falsely claimed to be seriously ill, causing stock market turmoil. I haven't asked you about it until I personally verified it. I want to know why you did it," Aiden's tone was calm, but Nathan felt the pressure.

"It's true," Nathan admitted.

"You canceled the meeting with the Avaloria royal family to avoid misunderstandings that could affect future cooperation, so you pretended to be sick, right?" Aiden asked.

Nathan nodded; he knew he couldn't hide it from Aiden and had no intention of doing so.

Aiden continued, "As for the reason you canceled, I didn't delve into it. I believe you should tell me yourself. I trust you and don't want to investigate you behind your back. My investigation was limited to official matters."

Nathan nodded again, showing he understood.

Aiden asked, "Can you tell me why you canceled such an important dinner? As the head of the Kennedy Corp, you should understand the importance of our connection with the Avaloria royal family."

"I did it to have dinner with someone," Nathan replied honestly.

Aiden was shocked. "You had dinner with someone? Who is so important that you would lose so much? Are they a man or a woman?"

Nathan answered, "They're a boy and a girl."

Aiden pressed, "Who are they?"

Nathan responded, "They are two children."

Aiden couldn't stay calm upon hearing they were children. "What's going on? You canceled such an important banquet to have dinner with two kids?"

Nathan took out his phone and showed Aiden pictures of Ryan and Sophie. "It's them."

Aiden immediately understood upon seeing their faces. "Are these your children?"

Nathan said, "No, they're Nick's kids, but I didn't know at first, so I had to confirm."

Aiden asked, "Have you confirmed now?"

Nathan replied, "Yeah, the paternity test results are in. They're Nick's kids, your great-grandchildren."

"Good!" Aiden was thrilled.

For Aiden, having great-grandchildren was way more important than any royal banquet or stock market value.

"Where are the kids? I want to see them! Wake up your grandmother, we need to see our great-grandchildren together! She'll be even happier than I am," Aiden was super excited.

Nathan suggested, "Grandpa, it's late. The kids should be asleep. Nick will bring them to see you tomorrow when he gets back."

Aiden finally sat back down. "You're right, it's late. The kids need their sleep. It's important for their growth."

Nathan saw Aiden's excited expression and knew he'd have trouble sleeping tonight. "I'll go now. You should rest early."

Aiden asked, "Wait, these two kids are twins, right? They look so much alike."

Aiden was too excited to stop talking about the kids.

Nathan answered, "Yes, Grandpa. The younger one is a girl, and the older one is a boy. The girl is lively and active, and the boy is quiet and smart."

Aiden was thrilled. "The girl is like Nick, and the boy is like you. That's great. I can't wait to meet my great-grandchildren."

Nathan reassured him, "Don't worry, Grandpa. You'll see them soon."

Aiden asked, "By the way, who is the kids' mother, and why are we just finding out about them now?"

Nathan was silent; he didn't have a good answer.

From his perspective, Caroline had hidden her pregnancy, maybe to use the kids for some benefit one day.

Nathan responded, "I'm not sure. You'll have to ask Nick. Grandpa, it's really late. You should rest."

Aiden said, "Alright, you can go now. I'll go tell your grandmother that we have great-grandchildren!"

The next day, at Aurora City International Airport, Nick, wearing a loud floral shirt and violet shorts, walked out of the VIP channel and immediately spotted the ever-dutiful butler, Charles.

Seeing Charles' familiar and slightly stern figure, Nick thought, 'Why is he here to greet me?'

After being abroad for so long, Nick had planned to have some fun with his friends first, but Charles intercepted him, ruining his plans.

"Mr. Kennedy," Charles bowed respectfully.

Nick, quick-witted, suddenly lunged forward, hugging Charles warmly. "Charles, I missed you!"

Charles remained unmoved, saying in a deep voice, "Mr. Nick Kennedy, I know you are not pleased to see me here, but Mr. Nathan Kennedy instructed me to welcome you, and I dare not disobey."

Nick was surprised. "Nathan asked you to wait for me here?"

"Mr. Nathan Kennedy said he hopes your first task upon returning is to see him, which is also Mr. Aiden Kennedy's wish," Charles explained.

Nick sighed, "My grandpa is getting involved too. Nathan already controls me enough, and now my grandpa too. Can't I catch a break?"

Charles added, "Mr. Aiden Kennedy also instructed that you change your clothes. The attire has been prepared for you."

Charles gently raised the pure white suit in his hand, a bespoke piece crafted by the Kennedy Family's exclusive tailor, James Smith, who came from Zephyria.

This custom suit was Nick's standard attire under family regulations.

As identical twins, Nick and Nathan were hard to distinguish for outsiders.

Nick lived a carefree life, dating many women; Nathan was aloof, almost uninterested in anyone.

But because they looked so alike, women often mistook Nick for Nathan, flocking to him.
