Chapter 186

Early on the weekend morning, Caroline was woken up by a call from Sarah. "Hurry up and pack your things; the car picking you up is almost at the hotel."

Caroline knew they were going to the countryside today, but she didn't expect it to be this early. After hurriedly washing up, John called to say the car was already downstairs.

When Caroline went downstairs, she was surprised to find that the car picking her up was a Land Rover, and Nathan was sitting inside with a cold expression.

"What are you doing here?" Caroline couldn't help but ask.

"This is my car," Nathan replied indifferently.

Caroline was at a loss for words.

Nathan's cold gaze swept over her, sizing her up.

Caroline felt a bit uncomfortable. "What are you doing?"

"There will be reporters following us today," Nathan said.

"What do you mean?"

"You need to watch your words and actions. If there's any problem, you'll have to deal with it yourself," Nathan said.

"What? I have no experience, and I don't know what to do," Caroline said, a bit panicked.

"Jack," Nathan called to his assistant in the front seat.

Jack immediately opened his bag and took out a booklet. "Ms. Murphy, this is the code of conduct for artists. It explains which questions from reporters you can't answer, which ones you should answer, and how to answer them. Please take a look."

Caroline gasped. There was such a thing?

She took it and saw that there were hundreds of rules. She didn't dare to slack off and read them one by one, trying to remember them.

Nathan watched Caroline seriously memorizing like a schoolgirl and secretly found it amusing, thinking she was really foolish.

She just needed to skim through and get the general idea. Was it necessary to be so serious?

Caroline noticed Nathan looking at her and turned to look at him, but Nathan quickly turned his head towards the window.

"Where exactly are you going? Are you coming with us?" Caroline asked curiously.

Nathan didn't respond.

Jack explained, "We're going to Willowbrook Hills, a place supported by the Kennedy Corp's one-on-one assistance program. Many infrastructure projects there are done by our company. This time, Mr. Kennedy is going to discuss the development of a new district with the local county leaders."

"Okay," Caroline nodded.

After finishing the code of conduct, Caroline felt sleepy. She hadn't slept well last night and got up too early today, so she was really tired.

She closed her eyes for a moment and fell asleep, leaning towards Nathan.

The scent of orange blossoms filled the air, making Nathan a bit dazed.

Feeling her head supported by Nathan's shoulder, Caroline felt more comfortable and didn't move.

Caroline was comfortable, but Nathan was not pleased. He had never let anyone rest on his shoulder, let alone this annoying Caroline.

Caroline's warm breath and faint fragrance stimulated Nathan's nerves.

He had always disliked Caroline and never thought they would be so close one day.

Nathan moved aside a bit.

But Caroline found a comfortable position and didn't give up easily. Instead, she stretched out her hand, wrapped it around Nathan, and continued to sleep.

Sitting in the front, Jack saw this scene through the rearview mirror and was shocked. After all, Nathan had never been this close to a woman before.

Even Nathan's former reputed girlfriend, Roxanne, had never sat in a car with him.

And today, not only did Caroline get into Nathan's car, but she also fell asleep leaning on him.

Finally, Nathan reached out and pushed Caroline's head away.

This time, Caroline didn't lean back but curled up on the other side and continued to sleep.

After pushing Caroline away, Nathan felt relieved.

Today, three cars were arranged to go to Willowbrook Hills. One was Nathan's, another picked up Sawyer, and the third carried the accompanying staff.

More cars could have been dispatched, but that would have been too ostentatious and not in line with the theme of the charity event, so only three cars were sent.

Originally, Caroline and Sawyer were supposed to ride in the same car, but considering the public's misunderstanding of their relationship, Nathan decided to separate them to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Moreover, deep down, Nathan didn't want Caroline and Sawyer to be together.

So he decided to pick up Caroline himself, not expecting her to fall asleep in the car and lean on him, which was simply unreasonable.

"Jack, contact the other vehicles and ask where they are," Nathan said.

"Yes, Mr. Kennedy," Jack took out his phone.

"They're already on the highway."

"Tell them to meet at Sunburst Oasis Service Plaza."

"Yes, Mr. Kennedy."

Meanwhile, Caroline had started dreaming. She dreamed that the TV series she starred in was officially aired, had high ratings, and she even won an award, with Nathan as the presenter.

In the dream, she was so happy that she laughed out loud.

By this time, they had arrived at Sunburst Oasis Service Plaza, and Nathan turned to see Caroline with a strange smile on her face.

What was she laughing about?

Was she pretending to sleep all along?

The car entered Sunburst Oasis Service Plaza and stopped. Caroline woke up. Her first reaction was to wipe her mouth to make sure she hadn't drooled.

Fortunately, she hadn't.

Then she looked up and saw Nathan's cold gaze, his displeased expression making her feel very awkward.

"Are we there?" Caroline rubbed her eyes. "Sorry, I fell asleep."

Nathan didn't say anything and got out of the car.

Sawyer, wearing a mask, approached. "Nathan!"

He then rushed towards the vehicle, knowing Caroline was in Nathan's car.

Even with the mask on, Caroline recognized Sawyer.

What she wanted to know most was if his stutter had been cured.

"Sway!" Caroline called out.

"Master!" Sawyer exclaimed with joy.

When Sawyer was abroad, Caroline always used her ID to play games with Sawyer, dominating the game, and Sawyer admired her greatly, calling her "Master."
