Chapter 201

Caroline's mood instantly improved, and she couldn't help but want to tease Nathan.

She saw that Ryan was safe and sound, and he had successfully met her in his own way. This made her feel that her child was in sync with her, which was a great comfort.

Feeling good, she deliberately proposed the crazy idea of smashing things, which made Nathan very angry.

"Kids, I was joking when I said you should smash things; don't take it seriously. Smashing things is wrong, and you shouldn't do that," Caroline explained with a smile.

Ryan and Sophie obediently nodded.

Nathan instructed the servants to reheat the food and bring it out.

Sophie was already starving and immediately started gobbling down the food. Ryan was also very hungry, but he had been holding back in order to see his mom.

Caroline and Nathan sat nearby, watching Ryan and Sophie eat, feeling very satisfied.

"Take your time eating. Your mom and I have something to talk about, okay?" Nathan asked. After Ryan's resistance, he was indeed a bit wary of these two little ones, and his tone was much gentler.

Sophie couldn't make the decision, so she looked at Ryan.

"What do you want to talk to Mommy about?" Ryan asked curiously.

Nathan was stunned for a moment.

"Adult matters, you kids don't need to worry about it," Nathan instinctively replied in his usual stern tone.

"These are my children, so they have the right to know my matters," Caroline immediately retorted.

Nathan's face darkened, she didn't leave him any dignity!

"We're talking about matters related to the film crew," Nathan reluctantly compromised.

Ryan looked at Caroline, and Caroline nodded to him and stood up.

"Nathan, you can't use me and Sophie to threaten Mommy," Ryan said seriously.

For a child to say such a thing was truly shocking.

"I won't," Nathan solemnly promised.

Only then did Ryan feel relieved.

Caroline followed Nathan out of the dining room and into the living room. This space was much more spacious than Sarah's entire house.

"This is the Kennedy Manor," Nathan said, staring at Caroline.

"I know, I didn't say it was the Rockefeller Manor," Caroline frowned.

"The Kennedy Manor has rules. All the servants must be properly dressed before going out," Nathan continued.

Caroline nodded seriously.

"But what are you wearing?" Nathan scolded angrily.

"You might have misunderstood something, I'm not a servant in your house," Caroline responded calmly.

Nathan looked at her, gritting his teeth.

"Calm down," Caroline smiled at him.

"If my grandfather saw you like this, what do you think he would do?" Nathan challenged.

"What would he do?"

"Aiden would immediately make you leave his precious great-grandson, because the Kennedy family's children shouldn't be around a woman like you who doesn't understand the rules. They might pick up bad habits."

"But I have the final say over my child!" Caroline retorted without backing down.

"If Aiden really takes action, you will have no place to stay in Aurora City. How will you take care of the children then?" Nathan said coldly.

Caroline fell silent. She knew this was true. If the Kennedy family's Aiden took action, the resources he could mobilize would be enough to leave her with nowhere to hide.

"It wasn't me who wanted to come today; it was Ryan and Sophie who wanted to see me, and it was you who called me." Caroline was always smart, knowing when to stand her ground and when to back down.

"But I didn't ask you to come in your pajamas. How inappropriate!" Nathan was still angry.

"When I got your call and heard that something had happened to Ryan, I was about to go crazy. How could I have thought about changing clothes? Should I have put on a delicate makeup and dressed up beautifully before coming? Would I still be a normal person then?"

It was reasonable and touching. Nathan didn't know how to refute for a moment.

He had originally intended to make her anxious on purpose, but it ended up with her rushing into the Kennedy Manor in her pajamas.

"From now on, you are not allowed to go out like this, not even a step," Nathan ordered.

"What? You want to lock me up here?" Caroline asked in surprise.

"You will stay with Ryan and Sophie for one night, and I will have someone send you away tomorrow morning. Don't let anyone see you like this again, or you will have endless trouble!"

Caroline was delighted to hear this, being able to stay with the children was wonderful.

"Okay, I agree," she said happily.

Nathan said no more and turned to leave.

Meanwhile, Ryan and Sophie finally finished eating and noticed that Nathan had left.

"Mommy, is Nathan angry?" Ryan asked.

"Don't worry about him; he's always like that." Caroline said indifferently.

"Actually, Nathan is quite nice. He loves us very much," Ryan said.

"Weren't you on a hunger strike to resist him? Why are you speaking up for him now?" Caroline asked in surprise.

"I wasn't eating just to see Mommy."

"Alright, let's not talk about Nathan. How have you been these past two days?" Caroline asked gently.

"Very good! The food here is especially delicious," Sophie went straight to the point.

Ryan was much more thoughtful. "Pretty good, just missed you a lot. Mommy, are you doing well? Is work going smoothly?"

Facing the children's concerned questions, Caroline's eyes reddened.

"Mommy is doing well, and I miss you very much too," she choked up.

Sophie obediently hugged Caroline's neck. "Mommy, don't be sad. We will always support you."

"Sweet baby, Daddy's here!" A shout came from outside; Nick was back.

He also had work to do today and had specially bought some snacks on his way back.

When he opened the door, he saw Caroline in her pajamas. "What are you doing here? Why didn't you tell me?"

"It was Nathan who called Mommy here," Sophie said sweetly.

Nathan called Caroline here? And she was in her pajamas?

Nick instantly felt tense.

"I'm here to see the children," Caroline explained.

"Seeing the children in your pajamas, are you planning to stay here?"

"It was Nathan who asked Mommy to stay," Sophie interjected again.

Nick felt even more uneasy.

Wasn't Nathan always against Caroline staying? What was going on?

Was it possible that something was going on with them?

But Nick quickly collected himself, convinced that they wouldn't do such a thing.

"I bought some snacks, all made by top pastry chefs. Come and try them! My baby loves desserts the most."

"Great, Daddy is the best!" Sophie cheered.
