Chapter 51

Charles struggled to put into words what he saw. "Yeah, an older lady with gray hair. She looks pretty old, but she's kept in shape, and her face is still striking."

Nathan's brow furrowed. What was Sawyer doing taking some random woman to a hotel?

Sawyer was in his prime, so having a girlfriend was no big deal. But if she was older? Nathan couldn't wrap his head around it.

What had Sawyer gone through abroad to end up with such unique tastes?

Nathan got up, threw on his coat, and headed out.

In the hotel room, the game was already on.

Caroline had lost three rounds straight.

"How can you be this bad? Aren't you supposed to be a gaming pro?" Sawyer tossed his phone onto the bed in frustration.

"I'm just not feeling it," Caroline said, yawning.

"Even if you're off your game, you shouldn't be this terrible. This is beginner stuff. What's going on?" Sawyer pressed.

Caroline thought to herself that the one who was really good at playing games wasn't her, but Ryan. However, this secret couldn't be revealed, otherwise Sawyer would bug Ryan to play all the time, and Ryan would turn into another game addict like Sawyer.

"When I'm off, I'm off. It happens. I'm done playing. I need some sleep," Caroline yawned again, covering her mouth.

She was really exhausted today. If Sawyer hadn't kept stopping her, she would've left ages ago.

"If you're tired, just crash here. We can play again when you wake up," Sawyer suggested.

Caroline shook her head, "No way, let's do it another day."

Sawyer wouldn't let it go, "You still owe me a meal."

"I was gonna treat you, but I'm too tired now. I'll treat you another day. If you're not happy with that, I'll order takeout. It'll be here soon," Caroline offered.

"You're treating me to takeout?" Sawyer's eyes widened.

"What else do you want? My treat is budget-friendly. Do I look like someone who can afford a fancy meal?" Caroline said confidently.

Sawyer was almost in tears from anger. "I'm a superstar, and you're treating me to this? Are you nuts?"

"You're the one who's nuts! If you don't want it, fine. I'm outta here," Caroline got up to leave.

Sawyer sighed, "Alright, you do look really tired. Go rest, and we'll catch up later. And take off that wig. It's kinda creepy."

Caroline took off the wig and stuffed it into her bag. "Later."

Meanwhile, Nathan walked into the hotel and headed to the reception.

This hotel, being close to Elegant Mountain Estate, often hosted guests visiting the Kennedy Family.

Many big shots, including foreign dignitaries and business moguls, had been personally escorted here by Nathan.

So, part of the hotel's new employee training was to recognize important Kennedy Family members to greet them quickly and avoid any awkwardness.

The receptionist stared at Nathan, not blinking.

Nathan was even more striking in person than in photos. Pictures could capture his looks, but not his aura. Right now, his powerful presence was downright intimidating.

"Good evening, Mr. Kennedy," the front desk staff greeted nervously, giving a slight bow.

"Which room is Sawyer in?" Nathan asked, his tone icy.

"He's in the presidential suite on the 18th floor," the receptionist replied without missing a beat.

They had memorized the room number of such an important guest, especially since the presidential suite was the priciest room in the hotel.

Nathan didn't say another word and headed for the elevator.

"Mr. Kennedy, you'll need the elevator card," the receptionist quickly reminded him.

This elevator required a room card to operate. Nathan turned back to grab the card.

As the receptionist handed it over, she tried to brush her fingers against his, but she didn't succeed.

Nathan approached the VIP elevator and saw it descending slowly from the 18th floor.

When it reached the first floor, the doors opened. Nathan wasn't planning to look inside, but a familiar scent of orange blossom caught his attention.

He looked up.

Nathan and Caroline's eyes met, both stunned for a few seconds. Neither had expected to run into each other here.

They didn't have a good impression of each other. Nathan thought Caroline, despite her acting talent, was scheming and ruthless.

More importantly, she showed him no respect!

He was admired by many, and everyone looked up to him—except for this obscure Caroline, who dared to disrespect him.

Their eyes met, and Caroline was the first to look away.

Caroline didn't think much of Nathan either. She always felt he blindly protected Roxanne and was an arrogant businessman who abused his power. But Nathan was the biggest investor in "Thunder 2" and her boss.

Caroline, being in a subordinate position, had to play nice. So, she gave a slight nod as a greeting. Nathan nodded back, just as curtly.

This brief nod was purely out of courtesy, with no real intention of communication.

After the nod, Caroline stepped aside to let Nathan go first, still out of politeness. Nathan didn't rush to enter either, waiting for the people in the elevator to clear out, also out of courtesy.

They both stood there, waiting for the other to move first, creating an awkward moment.

Realizing the situation, Caroline decided to move first and stepped forward to exit. At the same moment, Nathan moved too, and they accidentally collided.

The hotel elevator doors were wide, so this shouldn't have happened, but it did.

Nathan's strong physique, with muscles hidden under his clothes, was too much for Caroline's slender frame, causing her to step back a few paces.

"Damn it! It hurts!" Caroline cursed instinctively.

Nathan furrowed his brows slightly, thinking that she was indeed extremely rude.
