Chapter 194
In the end, Nathan still called out to Nick, "Come back!"
Nick always listened to Nathan. If he didn't, the consequence would be going to Stellaria.
So he reluctantly glanced at Caroline and then obediently came back.
Nathan got out of the car and walked towards Nick. Nick was a bit uneasy, thinking, 'Is he going to scold me?'
When he reached Nick, Nathan stared at the white shirt under Nick's white suit for a long time.
"Nathan, I wear white and you wear black; that's been the rule for years. Is that a problem?" Nick became even more uneasy.
"Have you ever used black buttons on your shirt?" Nathan asked.
"What do you mean?"
"You know, my buttons are custom-designed and made. Have you ever used my buttons on your custom suit?"
"No, Grandpa never let me wear a black shirt, worried that people would mistake me for you and affect your image, so naturally, I never used black buttons. Nathan, why are you asking this? It's so strange."
Nathan pondered for a long time but ultimately didn't say anything. Before the DNA test results came out, there was no conclusion, and he couldn't say anything. Even if the results came out, it would be hard to explain clearly. What impact this matter would have between the two brothers, even someone as smart as Nathan couldn't assess. But he would definitely protect his Nick and not let him get hurt.
"I'm just asking casually. Nick, if you want to wear a black shirt and suit in the future, you can. Grandpa not letting you wear it is unfair to you. You're great, and even if people mistake you for me, it won't damage my image," Nathan said.
Nick finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you for saying that, but black suits you better. I don't have to wear black. I can wear blue, gray, yellow; there are many colors to choose from. But Nathan, why did you suddenly bring this up today?"
Nathan was silent for a while. "Nick, do you trust me?"
"Of course. From childhood to now, you're the person I trust the most," Nick said sincerely.
"Good. In the future, no matter what I say, try to believe me," Nathan said.
"Okay," Nick agreed honestly.
"Then you can go now."
"What?" Nick was stunned. After all this buildup, just to let him go?
"Didn't you say you trust me? Now you don't?"
"No."
"I'm here to talk to Caroline about something. That's why I came here," Nathan said.
"Okay."
"As for what we're talking about, you don't need to ask. I'll tell you later."
"Alright then."
Nick reluctantly walked towards his car, wanting to say something but before he could, Nathan waved his hand. He just left? Although he was unwilling, he chose to trust Nathan.
Nick started the car, and the red sports car roared away.
Nathan stood there, watching the taillights of the sports car disappear, then turned back to his car to continue handling emails.
By ten o'clock at night, Caroline's scenes were finally done. She changed clothes and, dragging her tired body, walked out of the set with Sarah.
Seeing the car, she remembered that Nathan had said he would wait for her to finish filming.
She thought it was just something Nathan said casually. Someone of his status usually had people waiting for him, not the other way around.
But he was really waiting there.
Sarah glanced at Caroline and pointed to the car. "Is that Mr. Nathan Kennedy's car?"
"Yes."
"He's been waiting outside for you?"
"Yes."
"Oh my God, he's waiting outside, and you didn't come out earlier? Do you have any idea how important he is?"
"I was working. This show has been delayed because of me, and I already feel bad. I'm just an ordinary actress, not some important star. Even if I were a famous star, I have to cooperate with William and the crew. So I had to work. I didn't think he would actually wait."
"No, with him waiting for you, you're not an ordinary actress anymore," Sarah said mysteriously.
Nathan in the car wasn't idle either; he was handling emails. For him, waiting time wasn't wasted; it was just working in a different place.
Seeing Caroline come out, he got out of the car. Under the streetlight, he wore black clothes and pants, his face cold, exuding a cool aura. Although he always appeared to be above the fray of worldly concerns, he was, in reality, at the epicenter of the fame and fortune scene.
"Wow, so handsome," Sarah's heart raced.
Caroline glared at her.
"Hello, Mr. Nathan Kennedy. I'm Sarah." Sarah quickly introduced herself, hoping to leave a deep impression on Nathan.
Nathan nodded slightly in response, then looked at Caroline without speaking.
Sarah coughed a few times. "You two talk; I'll go now."
Caroline glanced at Nathan and thought that after waiting for so long, she should listen to what he had to ask.
"What do you want?" Caroline asked.
"Get in the car." Nathan said, then walked towards the car.
This wasn't a discussion; it was an order.
Caroline thought that, considering he had waited so long, she wouldn't argue with him.
After getting in the car, Nathan told the driver, "Back to the hotel."
The ride was silent, and the car arrived at the South Court No.1 Hotel.
"Go back to your room and change clothes. We'll meet at the bar downstairs in twenty minutes," Nathan said.
"Okay."
Caroline went back to her room, took a shower, changed clothes, and then came to the bar downstairs. The bar was very quiet, with soothing music playing, and guests were talking in low voices, creating a good atmosphere.
Caroline looked around and saw Nathan in a corner raising his glass to her.
Nathan was quite low-key, sitting in a very dark corner. Was he afraid of attracting too much attention because he was too handsome?
Caroline walked over and sat down.
"What do you want to drink?" Nathan asked.
"I'm a bit hungry," Caroline replied.
Caroline's answer surprised Nathan. Didn't she have dinner?
"This place only has drinks and snacks, no meals," Nathan said.
"How about we go for a late-night snack?" Caroline revealed her thoughts.
"You're an actress. Eating this late at night, aren't you worried about gaining weight?" Nathan asked, feeling quite helpless.
"I had to work overtime filming tonight. I'm really tired and hungry," Caroline replied pitifully.
Nathan was silent for a moment, then stood up. "Let's go."
Caroline was overjoyed. "I want to eat barbecue!"
