Chapter 48
"Why you gotta be so harsh? You owe me money and still act all high and mighty? Keep it up, and I won't be so nice; the creditor will become the enemy!" Tony snapped back, not holding back.
"If you keep nagging, I won't pay you back!" Caroline shot back, not backing down.
"I'll deal with you later, you'll regret this!" Tony hung up the phone.
Right then, the fans' excitement hit its peak, with screams and cries blending together as they surged towards the exit.
Security quickly formed a human wall to hold back the relentless wave of fans.
A young guy wearing sunglasses slowly walked out of the passage. The face beneath his blonde hair was ridiculously handsome, with features as delicate as a girl's.
He wore a fitted white shirt, black skorts, and white leather shoes, with surprisingly bright red socks.
This unique outfit, combined with his androgynous beauty, made it hard to tell his gender. If not for the obvious Adam's apple, figuring out his gender would have been a real challenge.
"Sway!"
"Sway, we'll always support you!"
"You're the most gorgeous!"
Some fans cried out, tears streaming down their faces.
Caroline wondered who this big star really was.
She bent down and squeezed through the crowd, finally reaching the front.
The Sway that these fans were crazy about was actually Tony.
Tony always bragged about being a big star, even claiming that people sent satellites for his birthday, but Caroline never believed him. After all, when they met, they were doing low-paying small theater gigs, and Caroline was convinced that a real star wouldn't take such cheap jobs.
But now, it seemed he really was a star, and a super popular one at that.
Sawyer gently raised his hand, blowing a kiss that triggered another wave of frenzy, with more fans breaking down in tears.
"I love you all. I thought you'd forgotten me after six months away," Sawyer said.
"We're always here!"
"You're the brightest star!"
The fans replied enthusiastically.
"I'm so happy to see you all. Someone very important to me is here to pick me up today. Where is she?" Sawyer asked.
The fans looked around, wondering who this important person was.
To be so valued by Sway, how lucky must this person be?
However, they searched in vain.
Sawyer sent a message: [Why aren't you here to pick me up? Pay back the debt soon!]
Caroline sighed inwardly, 'Isn't he just setting me up? If I go out now, I'll be the target of everyone's attention.'
Immediately, another message from Sawyer arrived: [You have ten seconds. If you don't come out, I'll call you out publicly, and you'll enjoy the 'warm embrace' of my fans. Your life won't be peaceful after that!]
Just as the message was sent, an elderly woman with graying hair forced her way through the crowd. "Sawy, you're finally back! I missed you so much!"
The woman looked well-maintained, though her grizzled hair showed signs of age, and her back was slightly hunched.
The fans, initially curious about who Sway was referring to, were relieved to see it was his mother. "So it's Sway's mother. Sway really values family."
Sawyer was at a loss for words, his smile stiffening.
Caroline had rushed over from the set, where her role for the day involved turning her hair gray overnight. The director thought all gray was too much, so they went with a graying look instead. Filming went late into the night, and she hadn't had time to change or remove her makeup, arriving at the airport looking like Sawyer's "mom."
"Sawy, what are you standing there for? Come home with me." Caroline linked her arm with Sawyer's.
Sawyer was fuming, grabbing Caroline's shoulder and whispering in her ear, "How dare you pretend to be my mom! You're done for!"
"Didn't you force me to come out? You think I'm that easy to bully?" Caroline replied with a smile.
The fans, loving everything about Sway, turned their cameras towards Caroline. "You're so beautiful!"
Caroline quickly covered her face, striking exaggerated poses. "Thank you all for supporting Sawy!"
Sawyer's hand pinched Caroline's shoulder. "Enough is enough!"
"Try touching me again, and next time I'll show up as your grandmother!" Caroline shot back.
As they bickered, Caroline kept smiling, linking arms with Sawyer as they walked to the parking lot.
Seeing this, the fans felt it was inappropriate to follow and dispersed with some regret.
In the parking lot, Sawyer pinned Caroline against the wall, "I'll remember this!"
"I was busy filming, and you insisted I come pick you up. I had no choice but to come in costume. You should be proud to have such a young and beautiful mom," Caroline laughed.
"Let's forget the past. Tonight, stay with me until dawn! Let's get a hotel room and play all night!" Sawyer suggested.
Caroline played the role of his mother. "I'm too old to stay up all night, and I don't play games anymore. I don't have time."
Sawyer insisted, "No way, you have to stay with me!"
Caroline joked, "Be good."
Sawyer stopped her. "Stop acting!"
Caroline compromised. "Alright. But I have to film tomorrow, so I really can't stay up all night playing games. I need to go home and take care of my kids."
However, Caroline was ultimately "kidnapped" by Sawyer into his flashy luxury sports car.
"You think you can run away without paying your debt? No way!" Sawyer said bluntly.
Caroline could only smile wryly. Owing money was indeed troublesome, especially when the creditor was a gaming fanatic, which made it doubly troublesome.
It all started when Sawyer hit a bottleneck in a game, and Caroline was in a bind, with Ryan sick and the hospital demanding payment.
Caroline promised that if Sawyer lent her fifty thousand dollars, she guaranteed she could level up Sawyer's game account by at least three levels.
Sawyer was naturally skeptical, so he set a condition that if she could really help him level up, he would lend her the fifty thousand dollars, plus an extra ten thousand as a bonus.
Caroline then had her highly skilled partner operate Sawyer's game account, easily achieving the goal.
Since then, Sawyer saw Caroline as a gaming expert. Whenever he faced a challenge, he sought her help, and Caroline discovered a lucrative opportunity, charging high fees for her services.
Sawyer understood Caroline's difficulties. Even though he was reluctant to part with his money, he was willing to help her.
Thus, Sawyer and Caroline formed a unique "alliance," rarely exchanging pleasantries but forging a deep friendship through their repeated "transactions."
"Where are you taking me?" Caroline asked, looking at Sawyer as he drove.
