Chapter 115

"I don't know. I was the first to parachute out. After that, I have no idea what happened to him," Roxanne lied.

In reality, she wasn't far from where Sawyer had passed out.

But she didn't want Nathan to find Sawyer. It would be best if Sawyer was already a lifeless body when found.

She couldn't give Sawyer any chance of survival.

"Gather all the team members and search within a one-mile radius. Quickly!" Nathan ordered.

"Yes! Please take Roxanne back to the camp first, we'll continue searching!" John responded.

Nathan looked at Roxanne. "She seems fine; I'll join you in the search."

"After I jumped, the plane seemed to fly that way, so Sawyer might have parachuted in that direction!"

The direction Roxanne pointed was completely opposite to Sawyer's actual location.

John and his team were about to head in the direction Roxanne pointed, but Nathan stopped them. "Split up and search; don't all crowd in one place."

Fortunately, about twenty minutes later, Sawyer was found.

He was covered in leeches, especially around his neck, which was horrifyingly dense.

During the cleanup, some of the leeches were already dead.

Nathan's face was ashen, his eyes red. He gently stroked Sawyer's face, whose expression was twisted in pain, making it heartbreaking to see.

Roxanne was increasingly puzzled, not understanding why Nathan cared so much about Sawyer.

"Mr. Kennedy, he still has some body heat," John said.

"Save him. Check for injuries," Nathan ordered.

"There are bite marks on his neck, possibly from a venomous snake," a team member said.

Nathan suddenly realized that the dead leeches had died from sucking poisoned blood.

In other words, the leeches had inadvertently helped Sawyer by slowing the spread of the snake venom, keeping him alive.

"Take him back to the camp! Quickly!" Nathan ordered.

The group hurriedly carried Sawyer back to the camp, with Roxanne struggling to keep up.

Nathan glanced at her and signaled to John. "Carry her too."

Deep down, Roxanne naturally hoped it would be Nathan, but she knew that was impossible.

John carried Roxanne, not out of pity for her fatigue, but out of concern that she might delay the treatment time.

At this moment, in front of the cabin, Caroline was hanging wet shoes to dry when she saw Nathan and the others running back, carrying someone.

Upon closer inspection, she was shocked to see that John was carrying a woman!

She approached to observe and was even more shocked to see that it was Roxanne.

How did she end up here? What on earth had happened?

"Where's Ryan? Ryan!" Nathan called out.

Ryan and Sophie were napping in the tent. Ryan was awakened by the shouting and walked out, rubbing his sleepy eyes. "You called me?"

Roxanne felt a pang of disappointment seeing Caroline there. Caroline wasn't dead, and she was with Nathan!

Given the situation, she had to keep up her act. After all, only Sawyer knew the secret, and as long as he didn't wake up, the truth wouldn't be revealed!

"Ryan, come quickly. How do we treat this injury?" Nathan called out.

Among all the adults, Nathan only trusted Ryan and pinned his hopes on him.

"Sawyer?" Ryan frowned.

"You know him?" Nathan was surprised.

"I've seen him before," Ryan explained.

But that wasn't important now; saving a life was the priority.

"He's been poisoned," Ryan said, frowning deeply.

Although Ryan wasn't a professional doctor, he had read books on herbal medicine, but he was still at a loss in this situation.

"It's snake venom. Fortunately, a lot of leeches sucked out some of the poison, but his condition is still very dangerous."

"White Deadnettle can counteract snake venom. Try it both internally and externally first, then consider other solutions," Ryan suggested.

Nathan immediately gave orders, "Go find it! Quickly!"

"But I'm not sure if it will work," Ryan said timidly.

He was just a kid, and the pressure of saving a life was too much for him.

Caroline felt sorry for Ryan. With so many adults around, why did Ryan, a child, have to bear such a heavy burden?

"No one can be completely sure. We just have to try. Don't feel pressured." Nathan put his arm around Ryan and comforted him softly.

"I'm so glad you're okay. I was so worried about you," Roxanne stepped forward.

"Shut up! We're not close," Caroline responded coldly.

Nathan thought, 'Caroline is really heartless. Reuniting in such a harsh environment was a stroke of luck for everyone, so why be so confrontational?'

"Nathan, are you okay? I was so worried about you. Now that I see you, I'm so happy. Even if I die here, I have no regrets," Roxanne said, moving closer to Nathan.

Nathan remained expressionless, responding only with his eyes.

Roxanne's appearance was indeed unexpected.

Despite Roxanne's vanity and opportunism, her effort to come all this way for him touched Nathan's heart.

After all, this was a place with extreme conditions, one that ordinary people would avoid at all costs, let alone a pampered celebrity like Roxanne.

"You and she can share a room. Go rest first," Nathan said flatly.

"No, I won't sleep. I'm afraid I won't see you when I wake up. I want to stay with you," Roxanne said, pretending to be dramatic.

Nathan's face darkened. "Stop it; go rest."

Seeing this, Roxanne didn't dare to act too spoiled and had to go inside.

However, not long after, Roxanne ran out of the cabin screaming, her face pale and terrified.

Roxanne had been "invited" out by Sophie.

Sophie, with a stern little face, said in a childish but firm voice. "You, the unwanted auntie, can't stay with us!"

Roxanne wasn't scared by Sophie, but by the snake Sophie was holding.

It was a tiny baby snake that Ryan discovered during his exploration near the cabin. After identifying it, we found out it was harmless.

Caroline was pale with fear, but Sophie loved it and insisted on keeping it, holding the snake tightly.

So, the adorable little girl holding the tiny snake made everyone afraid to approach her, but she was having a great time.

Since it was just a harmless baby snake, Ryan indulged Sophie's curiosity, assuring everyone it was safe.

Roxanne tried to join them in their room, but Sophie was naturally unwilling and used the little snake to chase her away.

Caroline knew what was happening but pretended not to, turning her head away.

After all, she didn't welcome Roxanne either.

"What happened?" Nathan walked over.

"That kid tried to bite me with a snake!" Roxanne pointed at Sophie.

"That's a harmless little snake; it won't hurt you," Nathan frowned slightly.

"But I'm really scared. I'm most afraid of snakes," Roxanne said, looking pitiful.
