Chapter 34
After dinner, Caroline was stuck doing the dishes in the kitchen, while Sarah got dragged into a "meeting" by Ryan and Sophie.
"Sarah, you promised us two things, and there's still one left hanging," Sophie said, all serious.
She looked so cute that Sarah wanted to pinch her cheeks, but Sophie dodged.
"Sarah, we're talking business here," Sophie stressed.
Sarah quickly dropped the playful act and got serious. "Alright, let's talk business."
"You promised Ryan and me that you'd find a boyfriend for Mommy, but nothing's happened yet," Sophie said.
Sarah replied, "Oh, right. I did promise, but this stuff can't be rushed. Your mom's a total catch. If I just pick some random dude, he won't be good enough for her."
Sophie looked at Ryan, confused.
Ryan shook his head; he didn't get it either.
"What I mean is, we need to find a rich and handsome guy for your mom. Don't you think?" Sarah said.
Ryan and Sophie nodded together.
Sarah continued, "So we gotta take our time. We need to find the right guy. Once we have a good candidate, I'll let you guys meet him first. If you give the thumbs up, then we'll set up a date for her. Sound good?"
Ryan and Sophie nodded again.
"Sarah, is the CEO rich?" Sophie suddenly asked.
"The CEO? Usually, yeah. If it's a big company, they're loaded. Why?"
"Is the Kennedy Corp a big company?" Sophie asked again.
"What?"
"Is the Kennedy Corp a big company? Is the CEO rich?" Sophie asked seriously.
Sarah was stunned, wondering what these kids were up to with these weird questions.
"Super rich!" Sarah nodded sincerely.
If the CEO of Kennedy Corp wasn't rich, then nobody was.
Ryan and Sophie exchanged a look, and their faces lit up.
"Then let's set the CEO up with Mommy," Sophie said mysteriously.
Ryan pulled the computer over and showed Sarah the webpage.
Sarah immediately got what they meant. They wanted Nathan to be Caroline's boyfriend. He was their target.
Sarah said, "He is very rich."
"Then it's settled!" Sophie concluded.
Sarah wanted to laugh. She guessed if Nathan knew he was the target of two kids, he'd be pretty speechless and maybe a bit pissed.
"How'd you pick him?" Sarah asked, curious.
"Looks like," Ryan said briefly.
Worried Sarah wouldn't get it, Sophie added, "He looks like us, so we think he can be Mommy's boyfriend."
"He can, but..." Sarah wanted to say that Caroline had some bad run-ins with Nathan on set. Making him her boyfriend would be tough. But she didn't say it.
Saying that would bum Ryan and Sophie out too much. Sarah thought it was better to go along with it for now. After all, dreams were worth having; maybe they'd come true.
