Chapter 22
When Caroline hit the set, she saw Roxanne was already there, all dolled up. That made her raise an eyebrow.
William was all smiles, kissing up to Roxanne. "Ms. Campbell's dedication is off the charts, showing up so early."
Then he turned to Caroline, his grin vanishing. "Take notes! Ms. Campbell are dedicated, that's why she's better than you."
Caroline thought, 'Seriously? Can't you see how bad her acting is? Showing up early means dedication? If I roll in at 2 AM, does that make me Employee of the Month?'
She had to play along, though. "Yeah, we should totally learn from Roxanne. To show our dedication, let's just crash here tonight after we wrap up."
Roxanne caught the shade. "Caroline, what are you trying to say?"
"Ms. Campbell, my name's Demi. I might not be a star, but at least get my name right," Caroline said with a grin.
Roxanne thought, 'Keep smirking. Once your makeup's done and you look like a mess, we'll see how cocky you are!'
In the makeup room, Lila Garcia was busy working on Megan.
Caroline nodded at Megan, but Megan just gave her the cold shoulder.
Caroline shrugged it off and watched Megan get her makeup done.
"I don't like people watching me while I get my makeup done," Megan said icily.
Caroline smiled. "Same here." Then she got up and left the room.
After wandering around for a bit, it was finally Caroline's turn.
She looked around to make sure no one was watching, then handed a box to Lila.
"This is a limited edition perfume I brought from abroad," Caroline whispered.
Lila saw it was legit, worth thousands of dollars.
"This is too much; I can't take it." Lila was nervous but clutched it tightly, not wanting to give it back.
Caroline wasn't that generous; it was a gift she couldn't use. "Just take it. We're friends now, and I'll need your help every day," she said with a smile.
"But..."
"It's just a small token. Take it."
Lila carefully put the perfume in her bag. "Thank you."
"By the way, Lila, I have a small favor to ask."
Lila thought, 'Oh great, here it comes.'
"The final look is up to the production team. I just do the makeup. If you want to change the style, you'll need their approval," Lila said.
"It's not about changing the style. I just want to use my own makeup products. It's a habit of mine. It won't be a hassle, right?" Caroline said with a smile.
Lila was relieved. "No hassle at all!"
"And also, please don't tell anyone I'm using my own products."
"Okay, it's not against the rules. I won't say a word."
"Awesome. Thanks, Lila."
When Caroline walked out of the makeup room, she turned heads.
Caroline, who usually went bare-faced, was already a natural beauty. Now, with her makeup on point, she was absolutely stunning.
She nailed the rebellious yet traditional vibe. She didn't need any lines; her every move already screamed the character.
