Chapter 64

Sarah was thrilled. Sure, it was just Jack's business card, but Jack, being Nathan's right-hand man, had a lot of pull in Aurora City.

Basically, Jack was involved in almost everything that went down in Aurora City.

"Thanks a ton, Jack. Really appreciate it," Sarah said.

"No problem. We're heading out now. Don't worry, I'll make sure the kids get back safe," Jack assured her.

Sarah had no doubts about that.

The Kennedy Family's security was the best in the city. With Ryan and Sophie with Nathan, they were in the safest place possible.

"Bye, Jack," Sarah waved.

But Ryan and Sophie pouted, "If Sarah doesn't come, we're not going either."

Sarah quickly explained, "It's not that he's not letting me go; I chose to stay home. I need to take care of the house. If your mom suddenly comes back and finds the house empty, she'll be worried, right?"

Ryan and Sophie exchanged a look, seemingly convinced.

"Okay, Sarah, stay home. I'll bring you something yummy," Sophie said.

Ryan nodded in agreement.

"Alright, I'll be here waiting. Go on now, or Nathan will get anxious," Sarah waved goodbye again.

Finally, Sophie and Ryan followed Jack to the Rolls-Royce.

Sarah clutched the business card tightly, feeling like she was holding a golden ticket.

She watched Nathan's convoy drive away, then pressed the card to her lips and kissed it hard, dancing with excitement. "I'm really gonna hit it big!"

The Golden Spoon.

This famous restaurant was Kennedy Corp's go-to spot for entertaining VIPs.

Here gathered master chefs who'd cooked for state banquets, pastry chefs who'd made desserts for presidents, and top chefs with international awards.

Usually, these chefs were head chefs at various Kennedy Corp restaurants and rarely cooked themselves, mostly just overseeing things.

But when they heard Nathan was coming, these culinary wizards all hit the kitchen to assiduously prepare a feast for him.

Today, their mission was to prepare a banquet perfect for kids.

Cooking for kids? That was a new one; they rarely got such specific orders.

Considering kids' taste, overly spicy or strong flavors were a no-go.

But making the food too bland would ruin the taste, so they had to find the perfect balance.

The pastry chef sent out some carefully prepared desserts as appetizers.

Sophie took a small bite and her eyes lit up!

Even though she was young, Sophie was a dessert expert. Even with the same ingredients, a master's creation and an ordinary pastry chef's work were worlds apart.

Plus, the ingredients were top-notch. Sophie could tell just by tasting and kept praising them.

Seeing Sophie devour the desserts, Nathan couldn't help but frown.

The main courses hadn't even come out yet. Would Sophie still have room for the other dishes if she kept eating like this?

But he couldn't bring himself to stop her, worried he might hurt her feelings.

Luckily, Ryan stepped in, "Take it easy!"

Sophie immediately slowed down, putting down her knife and fork, and started eating in smaller bites.

Pretending to be restrained wasn't easy for Sophie, but she knew it was important not to let Nathan think less of her.

After all, she wanted to be a beloved super girl and couldn't ruin her image by being a glutton.

"Hold up, wait for the main course," Ryan reminded her again.

Sophie put down the dessert and elegantly wiped her mouth with a napkin.

Once she composed herself, her manners were impeccable, unlike most kids.

All this was thanks to Caroline.

Nathan's heart softened. He couldn't resist the warmth Ryan and Sophie brought him.

The kids didn't have to say or do anything; just sitting there quietly made his heart melt.

He felt an inexplicable urge to protect them, to give them all the goodness in the world.

Sophie temporarily returned to being a graceful little lady.

Ryan gave her a look, and Sophie got the hint, ready to get to the main point.

Eating was important, but finding a boyfriend for their mom was equally important.

Feigning maturity, Sophie cleared her throat, imitating Ryan's manner, ready to speak.

Nathan's lips curled into a slight smile. He sat up straight, ready to listen to Sophie's speech.

"Nathan, I have something serious to discuss with you," Sophie said with a serious face.

"Yes, go ahead," Nathan replied, matching her seriousness.

But he forgot that even without trying, his face naturally carried authority. Now, he looked so serious it was intimidating.

Ryan and Sophie exchanged glances, a bit scared by Nathan's overly serious face.

Nathan didn't realize anything was wrong with his expression but noticed the subtle changes in the kids.

"Go ahead," Nathan said, his voice deliberately softer.

Only after confirming that Nathan was just serious and not angry did Sophie speak.

"Do you like me?" Sophie asked directly.

Nathan was taken aback. Why was she asking this?

But Sophie's eyes were full of seriousness and expectation, clearly not a joke.

"Yes," Nathan answered sincerely.

"Do you want to be with me?" Sophie asked another question.

Nathan was at a loss. Why did this sound like a confession?

This question was a real curveball!

If he said "I do," it would be too sweet. If he said "I don't," he feared hurting the child's feelings. Besides, if he wasn't interested, why would he have turned down an important royal banquet just to have dinner with Ryan and Sophie?

"What exactly are you trying to say?" Nathan felt a bit troubled.
