Chapter 111

Sawyer drove at breakneck speed, and what was surprising was that he was dressed in full outdoor adventure gear, as if he were about to embark on a mountain expedition.

"Are you Nathan's girlfriend?" Sawyer suddenly asked.

"I'm his fiancée," Roxanne corrected proudly. She thought, 'Finally trying to butter me up? Have you finally realized how powerful the Kennedy Family is?'

"So Nathan is your fiancé?" Sawyer confirmed.

"He mentioned marriage a few times, but I've been too busy with work to consider it. Maybe next year," Roxanne replied nonchalantly.

"If your fiancé were in trouble, would you just stand by and do nothing?" Sawyer changed the subject.

"What do you mean?"

"Nathan has gone missing in Novaria, a very remote and dangerous primeval forest. We're going to rescue him, and as his fiancée, we've decided to take you with us. No objections, right?" Sawyer explained.

"How could he go missing in Novaria? What was he doing there?" Roxanne was shocked.

"It all started with the kidnapping you planned. You took Demi's child, forcing her to go along. Nathan crossed the border to track them down and then lost contact," Sawyer said.

"What are you talking about? I don't understand," Roxanne feigned ignorance.

"Playing dumb? As Nathan's fiancée, can you just do nothing when he's in trouble?"

"Of course, I want to help, but I'm powerless."

"Come with us. Nathan will be so surprised and moved to see you, his fiancée, showing up." Sawyer persuaded.

Roxanne was internally resistant; the thought of a no-man's land was terrifying.

If someone as strong as Nathan encountered trouble, it would be even more dangerous for her.

Nathan was important, but only if he was alive. If he really was in trouble, why should she risk her life?

"Don't you want to save Nathan?" Sawyer pressed.

"I'm in the middle of filming, and I wouldn't be of any help."

"I've already talked to William. Filming is on hold, and I'll cover the losses. Youjust giving Nathan a surprise is enough. He'll be so touched to see you personally looking for him. He might even marry you as soon as he gets back. Isn't that what you've always dreamed of?"

Roxanne was momentarily speechless; Sawyer's every word left her with no way out.

"If you don't go, I'll tell Nathan you weren't willing to take a risk for him. You know how Nathan is. Once he finds out, your status as his fiancée will be in jeopardy. Worse yet, he'll strip you of all your current resources. Without Nathan's support, your acting skills alone won't keep you in the spotlight for long in the entertainment industry. You know how quickly people get replaced here. I almost feel sorry for you just thinking about it."

Sawyer's harsh words struck fear into Roxanne. While he might have been exaggerating a bit, he wasn't entirely off the mark; crossing Nathan could lead to disastrous fallout.

Sawyer stopped. "Get out."

"No. If Nathan is in trouble, of course, I should go," Roxanne quickly shifted her emotions, her acting skills kicking in.

"You clearly didn't want to go just now," Sawyer said with a smirk.

"I was just worried about being a burden to Nathan. I'm weak, but I'm willing to face difficulties with him," Roxanne pretended to be deeply emotional, which felt a bit off.

"Alright, stop pretending."

Seeing Sawyer's cold smile, Roxanne felt she was being dragged into an unpredictable journey.

At the Kennedy Family's private airport, the plane was already on standby.

"All the paperwork is done, and we have special approval. It's all up to you now," Nick told Sawyer.

"Don't worry. I'll bring them back."

"Why are you taking Roxanne? What use is she?"

"This is mostly related to her. I'm taking her to find out the truth. If anything happens to them, I'll hold her fully responsible," Sawyer said firmly.

"Be careful. I wish I could go with you."

"Nathan told you to stay, so you need to follow his instructions. The rear is just as important. You need to support us at any time and take care of Aiden."

Sawyer waved and walked towards the plane.

"Take care and come back safely!"

"Don't worry. I will!"

Caroline and her group had been prisoners in the jungle for three days.

The rations were almost gone, and no one dared to eat lightly, saving everything for Ryan and Sophie.

Even so, Ryan and Sophie were cautiously nibbling, on the brink of running out of supplies.

For the first time, Caroline felt the sting of despair. She had thought raising Ryan and Sophie alone was difficult enough, but the real challenge was just beginning.

Ryan noticed the worry in Caroline's eyes. She held Caroline's hand tightly and said softly, "Mommy, if we run out of food, we'll find wild fruits. Don't worry."

Caroline forced a smile. "I'm not afraid."

"Mommy, we won't die," Sophie said, her words simple and reassuring.

The word "die" was like a curse to Caroline at that moment, making her heart race with fear.

She took a bite of a slightly bitter wild fruit, trying to distract herself.

"We'll all be fine," Caroline encouraged Ryan and Sophie.

No matter how scared she was, she had to be the beacon of hope for Ryan and Sophie.

"Mr. Nathan Kennedy is back!" someone suddenly shouted.

"Ryan!" Nathan called out for Ryan and Sophie.

"Nathan!" Ryan responded.

"We found a water source and food!" Nathan, unusually excited, announced.

"Really? That's fantastic!" Ryan cheered.

"Get ready. We'll leave before it gets dark," Nathan ordered.
