Chapter 159

"Tell me your plan." An idea struck Caroline, and she began to bluff.

"What plan?" Nick didn't catch on.

"Of course, the wedding plan. Soare we getting married or not?" Caroline said with a frown.

"I've always said I wanted to. When I heard Nathan talking about getting married in Stellaria, I was so happy."

"You knew about getting married when you were in Stellaria?"

"Yeah, Nathan told me to get married, so I came back."

"But you came back a long time ago. You didn't mention anything about marriage then, did you?"

"I did. That's why I came back. Let's not dwell on this. The point is that I want to marry you."

"Then tell me your plan." Caroline wanted to hear Nick's plan first and then find a way to bluff.

"The prenuptial agreement still needs to be signed. That way, even if Nathan That way, even if Nathan disagrees, I can ask Grandpa to step in. But if you insist on not signing, it will be hard to explain to Grandpa and difficult to manage." Nick finished speaking and looked at Caroline anxiously, afraid she might disagree.

"I'm open to it, but I need to see the prenuptial agreement first."

"Don't worry, I'll have a lawyer draft an agreement that's very favorable to you. I won't let you lose out," Nick said excitedly.

Caroline intertwined her fingers, twirled them a few times, and stared at Nick.

She sensed that Nick was genuinely serious about marriage.

But the person who talked to her about marriage a few days ago felt cold.

What was going on?

"Do you really want to marry me?" Caroline stared at Nick and asked.

"Of course, do I need to prove it?"

"Why? You're not marrying me just for the sake of the children's custody, are you?"

Nick sprang to his feet. "Of course not! I'm marrying you to give the children a complete family. Without you, what would be the point of having custody?"

Caroline felt a genuine warmth in her heart.

On the way back, Sophie was still lively, but Caroline was always sleepy.

She and Nick still hadn't reached a conclusion about the marriage.

Caroline agreed to marry Nick, but the timing depended on the prenuptial agreement. Initially, she only wanted to delay and didn't truly intend to marry him. It wasn't that she didn't want a grand wedding or a complete family; she just felt something was missing with Nick, though she couldn't pinpoint what.

When they arrived at Sarah's neighborhood, Nick looked up at the mediocre apartment and frowned. "You need to find a new place to live. You can't keep squeezing in here. If you don't want to move into the Kennedy Mansion, I'll buy you a house outside."

Caroline was stunned for a moment and quickly refused, "No need, we're fine living here. Sometimes when I'm busy, Sarah can help look after the children."

"But this place is too small. It's not fit for living."

"I don't think so," Caroline was a bit upset.

"You can't keep crowding into Sarah's place. Even if you're good friends, it's not right. I'll buy you a villa. If you want to live with your friend, she can move in with you."

"No need. When I make enough money, I'll buy a place myself."

Caroline didn't want to owe Nick any favors. With Sarah managing the cooking, housework, and childcare, living here was comfortable. Moving out meant doing everything herself, which she couldn't manage right now.

"Alright then, but in a few days when we get married, you'll have to move in with me. We'll talk about it then." Caroline didn't agree, so Nick had to compromise.

While Nick and Caroline were discussing the housing situation, a BMW was stopped not far across the street.

The person in the car was Joseph, who had sent flowers to Caroline during the day.

He had been waiting at the neighborhood entrance for Caroline to return, but when he saw Nick with her, he hid.

But he was still spotted and stopped.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Joseph shouted.

"Our boss wants to see you. Come with us." The Kennedy Family's security chief, John, was wearing sunglasses at night, giving off a bit of a gangster vibe.

"Who is your boss? What does he want?"

"Stop talking. You'll find out when you get there."

Joseph was taken to a club. The private room was dimly lit, and a man was sitting with his back to him, drinking alone. Joseph couldn't see his face, but his figure and the cold aura emanating from him felt eerily familiar, giving Joseph a sense of déjà vu.

The man heard someone come in, and just raised his finger slightly.

"What's your name?" John began to ask.

"Who are you people? Why did you bring me here?" Joseph shouted.

"I'm the one asking you." John said coldly.

"Why should I answer your questions? I don't even know who you are." Before Joseph could finish speaking, John punched him, then kicked him twice.

John had seen many bluffers like Joseph. People like that won't be honest unless they suffer a bit.

"I'm Joseph." Sure enough, after a few punches, Joseph couldn't take it anymore.

"What's your relationship with Ms. Murphy?"

"We've been lovers since childhood." Joseph stressed the word 'lovers,' making it sound harsh.

The man drinking alone paused, lowered his glass without taking a sip, and set it down heavily."When did you meet?"
