Chapter 145
Aiden's words were full of meaning, sincere without a hint of pretense.
Nathan gave a subtle nod, signifying his understanding. "Whatever you ultimately decide, I am ready to accept it.""Nathan, you're amazing. You are the pride of the Kennedy Family and my pride too," Aiden said, his eyes full of affection.
"Then I'll head back to my room, Grandpa."
Nathan returned to his bedroom, changed into workout clothes, and headed to the gym.
Even with a busy day, he couldn't miss his exercise.
This was his secret to maintaining health and physique.
An hour later, a sweaty Nathan walked out of the gym.
After showering and changing into loungewear, he stepped into the study. He pressed a remote, and the video call device on the wall activated, connecting to Nick.
"I didn't chase any women today; I was working seriously," Nick quickly stated.
"Let's talk about your wedding. What kind of wedding do you want?" Nathan asked directly.
"What?" Nick thought he had misheard.
"I want to plan a grand wedding for you," Nathan confirmed again.
"You want me to get married? To whom?" Nick was astonished.
"Who do you think?" Nathan frowned. "Who have you always been thinking about?"
"Demi," Nick blurted out.
"Her name is Caroline; Demi is a fake name," Nathan corrected.
"Whatever, she's the mother of my children. You wouldn't want me to marry someone else, would you?" Nick laughed.
"Yes, you're marrying her."
"That's awesome! Why did you suddenly agree? Weren't you always against me marrying her?" Nick was overjoyed.
"If marrying her makes you happy, then I agree," Nathan replied steadily.
"Absolutely happy! Demi is so beautiful and my children are so cute.Just thinking about it feels perfect!" Nick was ecstatic.
Nathan's mind unexpectedly conjured up an image of Nick's happy family, and he was surprised at how often he had been distracted today, always thinking about Nick's wedding.
"Nathan, are you jealous?" Nick teased.
"Do you think I would be? If you keep this up, I might just stop her from marrying you!" Nathan's face darkened.
It was just a joke, but Nick didn't expect Nathan to react so strongly.
"Sorry, my bad, just kidding. You're so serious; you scared me!" Nick quickly apologized.
Nathan's tone softened slightly. "I don't like these kinds of jokes. So, what kind of wedding do you like?"
"Whatever you arrange, I'll like!"
"Easy peasy, just get the marriage certificate and go out for a meal yourselves," Nathan said flatly.
"What kind of wedding is that? The Kennedy Family is the top family in Aurora City. For my wedding, it has to be grand. I want the best host, lots of celebrities, and a live broadcast."
"Enough, are you getting married or putting on a show? Too ostentatious, I disagree!" Nathan immediately vetoed.
"Aren't weddings like this nowadays? Even minor celebrities make a big deal out of their weddings. Is it too much for me to put on a show?"
"They're making deals! "The wedding costs are covered; they not only save money but also earn some. Can you compare?" Nathan retorted.
"Why can't I compare? If they can get sponsors, why can't I?" Nick persisted.
Nathan shook his head repeatedly. "We don't need to make money from the wedding, nor do we need sponsors. We want a pure wedding, not a performance or a transaction!"
"Got it,"
"What kind of style?" Nathan asked.
"Any style works, as long as it's a pure wedding, the specific style doesn't matter." Nick clearly still yearned for a luxurious affair.
"Alright, come back tomorrow, discuss it with Caroline, and then let me know."
"Really? I can come back tomorrow? That's great!" Nick beamed.
"That's it. We'll discuss it when you return."
"Okay, I'll hang up now."
"Wait. Do you want them to attend your wedding?" Nathan asked.
"Who?" Nick didn't react immediately.
"The two from Crystal Falls."
"Mom and Dad? Of course, I want them to, but aren't they banned from returning to the country? I can't have the wedding in Crystal Falls."
"Then you go convince Grandpa to let them come back."
"I can't; I don't have any influence with Grandpa. If you ask, maybe Grandpa will consider it. If I go, Grandpa will definitely refuse."
Nathan pondered for a moment. "Then forget it."
"You should ask. You're influential, and Grandpa listens to you."
"I tried, Grandpa wasn't too happy. You try again, if it doesn't work, then let it go."
"Alright, I'll try when I get back. I hope it works. If Mom and Dad can come, my wedding will be perfect."
The next morning, Caroline, in a car arranged by Jack, traversed the bustling city and arrived directly at Nathan's luxurious office in the clouds.
Nathan, clad in a tailored black suit, sat firmly in the chair symbolizing power as he gazed at Caroline entering the room. A fleeting, indescribable sense of disorientation washed over him. In his previous incarnations as Nick, he had concealed tenderness beneath a pure white suit, a stark contrast to the current severity of his dark attire. The only constant was the lingering scent of orange blossom in the air, an ever-present memory he had strived to forget over the years but could never quite shake off.
Caroline's eyes briefly flicked over him, sensing a subtle warmth in Nathan today, a departure from his usual aloof demeanor. However, she quickly brushed it off as a mere illusion, with a self-deprecating smile.
"Ms. Murphy, please have a seat. Would you like something to drink?" Jack, as always, was elegant.
"She won't drink," Nathan answered for her directly, his voice low and unquestionable.
Caroline was taken aback, secretly thinking, 'I haven't even spoken, how do you know I won't drink? Do you think I'm not worthy of the Kennedy Corp's premium coffee?'
