Chapter 143

Caroline was once again left speechless.

"The children were an accident," Caroline struggled to defend herself.

"Accident? Even an accident requires responsibility."

What Nathan thought that it was Caroline's careless private life leading to an unintended pregnancy.

But Caroline's accident was actually a pregnancy caused by Roxanne's arrangement.

"I have taken responsibility. I gave birth to the children and have been raising them ever since," Caroline said, slightly annoyed.

Nathan thought carefully; she indeed had it tough.

"Are you really not tempted by the Kennedy Family's wealth at all?" Nathan asked a deeper question.

"Of course I am. I'm just an ordinary person. Otherwise, why would I work?" Caroline answered honestly.

Nathan thought, 'This is her true nature, finally speaking the truth.'

"So what's your plan?" Nathan pressed.

"The wealthy families are complicated. I'm not a match for you, so I won't be happy," Caroline said.

"What do you mean?"

"You married me only because of the children and a momentary novelty. This novelty will soon fade. Your family will definitely look down on me. While you haven't grown tired of me yet, I can still stand my ground. When the initial charm fades and you begin to resent me, I'll be cast aside as an outsider. In that role, I'll face humiliation and exclusion from your family. Given your wealth, you could easily replace me with someone younger and more attractive. If I'm marginalized within your family, I'll suffer greatly, losing not just the facade of luxury but potentially even my children." Caroline's tone was calm, but it sent a shiver down Nathan's spine.

How could her thoughts be so bleak, envisioning marriage in such a light?

Nathan snorted, saying nothing.

It was clear he disagreed with Caroline's viewpoint but couldn't be bothered to argue each point.

"You disagree?" Caroline asked.

"The Kennedy Family isn't as heartless as you describe," Nathan responded.

"Heartless or not, I don't care. Anyway, I'm not interested in marrying into the Kennedy Family."

Nathan fell silent, grappling with the authenticity of her words.

Could it be that she really raised the children not to use him as a bargaining chip for benefits?

But she could even harm her own mother, surely she would stop at nothing to achieve her goals. Was this all an act?

She had already come this far, still pretending?

If she didn't want to marry into the Kennedy Family, she might have a bigger conspiracy in mind.

Nathan was determined to thwart her plan, ensuring both Nick and Caroline remained within the Kennedy Family. He resolved to facilitate Nick and Caroline's marriage.

Upon arriving at the film set, Nathan asked Caroline to get out of the car. He didn't accompany her but turned around and left.

Time was tight; he had an important meeting waiting for him.

Caroline walked into the crew and saw everyone gathered around a newcomer.

It wasn't William but a new actress replacing Roxanne in the second most important female role.

"Ms. Murphy is here," someone in the crew noticed Caroline.

The woman in the crowd turned around, revealing a delicate face.

Her name was Olivia Smith, a former child star who had attended the International Film University for further studies. After graduating, she continued her education and was a graduate student at the time.

Regarded as a highly educated, intelligent, and beautiful actress, she was known for being very selective about scripts, only accepting high-quality productions.

The crew spared no effort in securing Olivia Smith for the project, making a significant financial commitment to ensure her involvement.

"You must be Ms. Murphy, right? Hello, I'm Olivia. Nice to meet you," the highly educated star took the initiative to step forward, extending her hand to shake Caroline's.

Caroline didn't expect the other party to be so friendly and quickly responded with a smile. "Hello, I'm Demi."

"Nice to meet you."

At this moment, William approached. "With the leading actress and the runner-up female lead now in place, we are ready to officially resume filming. With the addition of you two talented actors, this show is bound to be a hit and become a classic."

"I still have a lot to learn from Ms. Murphy," Olivia said modestly.

"You are professionally trained; I should be learning from you," Caroline responded humbly.

"Look, both of you are so humble. That's the spirit, learning from each other and complementing each other's strengths. Let's work together to create a classic show," William said excitedly.

The crew resumed work, and the atmosphere was harmonious, which lifted Caroline's spirits.

Olivia indeed lived up to her reputation; her acting was superb, and working with her for the first time made Caroline feel exhilarated.

A clash between masters often brought out their full potential, growing stronger when pitted against formidable opponents.

At 7 PM, at the Kennedy Manor, Starlight Villa, the bustling Nathan took the initiative to return home for dinner, much to Aiden's delight.

Aiden specifically instructed the servants to select a fine wine from the cellar to share a drink with Nathan.

After a day of hard work, Nathan also longed to relax with a drink.

"Grandpa, there's something I want your advice on." Nathan gently put down his utensils, his expression serious.

The Kennedy Family didn't have a strict rule against talking during meals, but any conversation at the table necessitated setting down utensils, refraining from speaking while eating, and certainly avoiding talking with food in one's mouth.

"I knew you wouldn't come without a reason. Go ahead. what's the matter?"

"I want to plan a wedding for the Kennedy Family, one that's exceptionally grand. The family has been low-key in recent years, and I aim to use this lavish event to bring some excitement back," Nathan stated.

Aiden's face instantly lit up with joy. "You want to get married? To that actress named Campbell?"

Although Aiden was reluctant for Nathan to marry someone from the entertainment industry, given Nathan's indifference to relationships, as long as he was willing to marry, Aiden would reluctantly accept even an actress. It was better than nothing.

"Not my wedding," Nathan shook his head.

"Not that actress? Then who? Why haven't I heard anything about it?" Aiden grew even more curious.
