Chapter 60
Sawyer definitely didn't want to spill the beans about knowing Caroline from abroad or how she once helped him with gaming. He was scared Nathan would chew him out for hanging with slackers and being hooked on games all day.
"We're working on a film together, so it's only fair to look out for each other," Sawyer mumbled.
"The director handles the crew's business; who gave you the right to meddle?" Nathan snapped.
Nathan was hoping Sawyer would say Demi had been bugging him, making him give in, which would match up with Roxanne's story. But Sawyer didn't go there.
Sawyer said, "She was in really bad shape, like she was poisoned. I had no choice but to get her out of there."
Nathan sighed to himself, amazed that Demi had managed to get Sawyer on her side!
"Stay away from Demi!" Nathan ordered, clearly annoyed.
"Why? She's cool, and we get along," Sawyer said, confused.
Sawyer's words shocked Nathan, making him realize just how much Demi had gotten to Sawyer. They'd just met, and Sawyer already thought they were tight. What would happen over time?
Even though Caroline was a fantastic actress and "Thunder 2" would be a hit with her in it, Nathan couldn't stand the idea of Sawyer and Caroline getting too close just for a role!
Nathan hit a button and called for Jack.
"What's up, Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Rivera?" Jack asked, showing up quickly.
"Tell William to cancel the contract with that woman," Nathan ordered.
"Which woman?" Jack asked, puzzled.
"That woman!" Nathan yelled, losing his patience.
Jack suddenly got Nathan meant Demi!
"Got it, I'll take care of it right now," Jack said, pulling out his phone.
"Nathan, don't do this. She's a great actress, and we work well together!" Sawyer shouted.
The word made Nathan even angrier. Demi had really messed with Sawyer's head in just one day!
"Why haven't you done it yet?" Nathan roared at Jack.
"Yes, sir," Jack said, a bit taken aback. Nathan was usually cold, but he'd never seen him this mad. What was going on today?
Nathan also wondered why he was so angry. Was it really just about Sawyer?
Why exactly? Nathan felt uneasy, like he lost control whenever Caroline was involved.
Sawyer stopped Jack, standing his ground, "No, Nathan, you can't treat a great actress like this!"
"Mr. Rivera, this is a company matter. You shouldn't mess with Mr. Kennedy's decisions," Jack, who had been with Nathan for years and knew his moods, advised Sawyer not to fight a losing battle.
"No, this is personal. Nathan, as the head of Kennedy Corp, is it right for you to use your power to crush a minor actress? If it's business, what did Demi do wrong? Should she be fired just because she got sick? Why are you so mad? Did someone put you up to this?" Sawyer argued.
Nathan was the person Sawyer respected the most, but right now, for Caroline, Sawyer was ready to do anything. The bond between Sawyer and Caroline was something outsiders couldn't get. Caroline was Sawyer's only friend abroad, the only one brave enough to "discipline" a superstar like him. This friendship was something only Sawyer understood, and he'd do anything for Caroline.
Nathan was stunned; the Sawyer he knew had never stood up to him like this.
