Chapter 173
"Don't you want to go to Stellaria?" Nathan asked.
Nick quickly nodded. "No, not at all!"
Nathan then looked at Sawyer. "Don't want to face the reporters?"
Sawyer also quickly agreed, "No!"
"Alright, then I'll give you another chance. From now on, no matter what happens to Caroline, you can't have any contact with her!" Nathan said coldly.
Nick and Sawyer looked at each other, a bit puzzled.
"In other words, no matter what happens to her, you can't get involved," Nathan added.
The two exchanged another glance.
"Disagree? Then I'll have someone book your flight tickets!" Nathan smirked.
"No, I agree," Nick quickly conceded.
"I'll have someone send you back to the hospital now. The speech therapist has already arrived, and treatment will start tomorrow. During the treatment, you can't leave the hospital for even a step!"
"Okay, Nathan, but..." Sawyer wanted to defend Caroline again, but stuttered. Seeing Nathan's increasingly cold expression, he couldn't get the words out.
Sawyer knew Nathan's methods. The more they opposed Nathan now, the worse it would be for Caroline. They had no choice but to comply for now and think of a plan later.
Seeing Sawyer shut up, Nathan relaxed a bit.
Caroline was too cunning. If he didn't control these two, they would still be used by Caroline. He had no choice but to start with his own family.
At this moment, Nick's phone rang. It was Caroline calling.
Nick glanced at his phone, then at Nathan.
"Is it her calling?"
"Yes."
"Tell her the child is already asleep and will be sent directly to school tomorrow. She doesn't need to worry."
"Okay." Nick answered the call and repeated Nathan's words.
Worried that Caroline might be too anxious, Nick added in a low voice, "It's okay, the child is sleeping well. You should rest early."
Nathan glanced at him, and Nick immediately hung up the phone.
Caroline didn't sleep well all night.
Although she knew the child was safe with the Kennedy family, being separated from her precious one still made her anxious.
As dawn approached, Caroline was about to sleep when she was startled by Sarah's scream.
The scream came from the living room, loud enough to be heard through the door.
Caroline jumped out of bed, ran barefoot to the living room, and saw Sarah waving her phone wildly.
She looked like she had been greatly shocked, almost losing her mind.
What had Sarah been through? A breakup?
No, Sarah hadn't been dating anyone recently, so how could it be a breakup?
Caroline hugged Sarah. "What's wrong, sweetie? A breakup is no big deal, just find someone better looking!"
Sarah couldn't stop her excitement.
"Even if he doesn't love you, it doesn't matter. I'll always be by your side!" Caroline comforted softly.
"What are you talking about? Are you crazy? He never loved me!" Sarah shouted.
"What? Then you were really in unrequited love. Sarah, at your age, you should just take what you want!" Caroline sighed.
"What are you talking about? Let go of me! When was I in unrequited love?" Sarah shouted.
Caroline had intended to give her a loving hug but was instead scolded.
"Then why are you acting like this?"
"I'm happy."
"Happy about a breakup? You're happy acting like this? You're scaring me!"
"Look, isn't it incredible?" Sarah pointed at her phone screen. "Gained over 500,000 followers overnight! Amazing, right?"
Caroline finally understood; it was about gaining followers on Twitter. Was this really something to get so excited about?
"Let me see," Caroline reached for the phone.
"You better not look for now; wait a few days," Sarah dodged, not letting Caroline see the phone.
"Why can't I see?"
"You'll get angry after seeing it. Don't worry, it's just some malicious fan comments."
"Are there a lot of malicious fans? If the comments are all insults, I can handle it."
"There are some extreme comments, but don't mind them. Young people are like that," Sarah comforted.
"I'm fine; let me see."
"You have to promise not to get angry, or I won't let you see."
"I won't get angry. Malicious fans are still fans. Gaining 500,000 followers overnight is a miracle for me!"
"Alright, you can look."
Caroline took the phone and saw that the followers had indeed increased to over 500,000, instantly making her a Twitter influencer.
The first comment made her heart tighten: [Bitch! How dare you go after Sawyer! Shameless!]
This comment had the most likes.
The second comment was even worse: [Go to hell! You're not even worthy to carry Sawyer's shoes. You clout-chasing bitch!]
Caroline thought she could handle it, but her face fell when she saw the comments.
"Fuck!" she cursed in anger.
Sarah snatched the phone back. "I told you not to look, but you insisted. Now you're angry, aren't you?"
"Shut down Twitter, I don't need it. Let's see where they go to curse next!" Caroline's lips trembled with anger.
"Calm down, artists still need social media accounts. Being cursed at is also a form of communication."
"What nonsense are you talking about? I haven't had any interaction with them; why are they so vicious?"
"You insisted on looking, now you're all worked up. Those fans are all Sawyer's. Yesterday, you were live-streamed having dinner together, and it trended. Those clueless young girls think you're using Sawyer's influence to make yourself famous, so they came to curse you. Don't argue with a bunch of underage girls."
"Underage girls should focus on studying. If they want to be fans, just be fans. Why curse people? What kind of people are they!" Caroline was furious.
