Chapter 32
Roxanne's ride rolled up to Regal Crest Hotel's parking lot.
She didn't hop out right away. Instead, she fished out a black bucket hat, some oversized shades, and a big ol' mask from her bag.
Once she was sure she looked like a total stranger, she slipped in through the side door of the hotel.
A staff member was waiting and led her to a private room where a young dude, Luke Green, was hanging out. He was dressed super casual, with a noticeable scar on his right eyebrow.
When Luke saw Roxanne, his face lit up like a Christmas tree.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. You good?" Roxanne asked.
"I'm good. It's awesome to see you. It's been 47 days," Luke stammered, clearly counting every single day.
Roxanne stayed cool. "Luke, my current situation makes it tough for us to meet often, but you're always in my heart."
"Really?" Luke was even more pumped and wanted to hug her but held back.
"You mean a lot to me, and that hasn't changed. When the time's right, I'll think about being with you."
Luke was practically bouncing with excitement.
"But right now, I need a favor. It's risky. If you're not up for it, I'll find someone else," Roxanne said.
Luke replied, "If it's for you, I'm in."
"Good. You need to find this woman. She's got a kid. Once you know where she lives, make that kid disappear."
"Disappear?"
"Yeah, disappear. You can strangle him and toss him in the trash, or sell him off somewhere far. Just make sure he's gone."
"Why do you want to hurt a kid?"
"Because he shouldn't be here. He's a threat to me!" Roxanne snapped.
"But it's a kid."
"Are you in or not? I told you, if you're not, I'll find someone else."
Luke looked torn but finally nodded. "Okay, I'll do it."
Roxanne smiled. She pulled out a designer bag and handed Luke $3,000 in cash. "You just got out of prison. It's tough finding a job. Use this for now."
"I'm not doing this for the money. I'm doing it because I love you," Luke said, refusing the cash.
"I know, but you need money to live. Take it. But remember, if this goes south, I might not be able to protect you."
"Don't worry. If it goes bad, I'll take the fall, just like before."
"Good. The woman's name is Caroline, but she goes by Demi now. She's in the same crew as me. After filming, she heads back with her agent. Follow them, find out where she lives and the kid's situation. Then you know what to do."
"I got it," Luke nodded.
"I know you love me and want me to be happy, right? If you do this, you'll make sure I'm happy. Once I've made enough money to live worry-free, I'll ditch all the fame and fortune and leave with you," Roxanne said, giving Luke a kiss on the cheek.
Luke trembled with joy. Just as he tried to hug her, she pushed him away. "I have an important engagement. I gotta go."
