Chapter 55

The whole set was buzzing, and no one caught Caroline's muttering. Sarah didn't either; she was just as hyped.

Shaking Caroline's shoulders, Sarah shouted, "Did you see that? Sawyer! He was voted the most influential artist last year!"

Caroline gave Sarah a weird look. "You follow celebrities?"

"I'm a hardcore Sawyer fan! My biggest dream is to be his manager!" Sarah said, her face lighting up with excitement.

Caroline wasn't thrilled. She thought, 'You're my manager, but you're dreaming of managing Sawyer? Am I not good enough for you?'

"If I become Sawyer's manager, I can be with him all the time," Sarah went on.

"Cut it out! I'm your artist now, remember? One day, I'll be just as famous!" Caroline snapped, cutting off Sarah's daydream.

Sawyer adjusted his sunglasses and waved to the crowd. The staff went wild.

"Sway, Sway! We love you!"

"We're always supporting you!"

William stepped up quickly. "I'm William. Welcome aboard, Sawyer. Our show's gonna be a hit!"

Roxanne opened her arms, acting all buddy-buddy with Sawyer, ready for a hug. "Welcome, Sway. I'm Roxanne."

Sawyer didn't return Roxanne's enthusiasm and had no intention of hugging her. Instead, he looked around like he was searching for someone.

Roxanne's hand hung awkwardly in the air, waiting for that hug.

"Go say hi, quickly!" Sarah gave Caroline a forceful push, intending to propel her towards Sawyer. However, Caroline was caught off guard, and Sarah's push was too strong, causing Caroline to fall to the ground.

"Ouch!" Caroline exclaimed as she hit the floor hard. She looked up with a wry smile, "Carry on, carry on, don't mind me."

Roxanne's hand was still suspended in the air, waiting for Sawyer's hug. But Caroline's fall captured Sawyer's attention.

Sawyer adjusted his sunglasses and walked over to Caroline, all eyes on him.

Roxanne gritted her teeth, silently cursing Caroline for stealing the spotlight.

Sawyer bent down, took Caroline's hands, and helped her up. "You okay?"

"What are you doing here?" Caroline asked quietly.

"I'm here to shoot a film. I'm the male lead," Sawyer replied.

"Don't tell anyone you know me, or they'll think I got this gig because of you," Caroline warned him.

"That depends on how you do. Play games with me tonight!" Sawyer insisted.

"I don't have time!" Caroline shot back.

"You'll make time, or I'll turn the whole crew against you," Sawyer threatened.

Caroline hesitated. Sawyer's popularity was off the charts.

If he made things tough for her, everyone would probably side with him.

Dealing with Roxanne and Megan was already hard enough. Adding Sawyer to the mix would be a nightmare.

"We'll see," Caroline said, trying to buy some time.

"No way, you have to hang out with me tonight," Sawyer pressed.

Sarah stood nearby, trying to catch bits of their conversation, bending down to eavesdrop.

Finally, she heard one clear sentence: "You must hang out with me tonight."

Sarah was stunned.

She was sure she hadn't misheard. Sawyer actually asked Caroline to hang out!

Did Sawyer and Caroline know each other? And were they so close they had to meet at night?

Caroline didn't want to argue with Sawyer in front of everyone or reveal their past.

She didn't want people thinking she got ahead by cozying up to a star.

So, Caroline lowered her voice and said to Sawyer, "Knock it off, everyone's watching. We'll talk later."

Sawyer extended a hand and loudly announced, "Hey, I'm Sawyer. Nice to meet you."

Everyone was stunned, especially Roxanne, who bit her lip in anger.

The big star Roxanne couldn't even get a hug, and Sawyer didn't even glance at her. Instead, he extended his hand to an unknown Caroline?

Caroline also extended her hand but, remembering the dust from her fall, quickly wiped it on her pants. "Hi, I'm Demi."

"You look a lot like a friend of mine," Sawyer said with a smile.

His smile had a certain charm, a soft and captivating allure.

Sometimes, his charm blurred the lines of gender, making it hard to tell if he was male or female.

But Sawyer's charm was pure and unpretentious, unlike vulgar flaunting, and it didn't easily annoy people.

"Really?" Caroline responded indifferently.

"Yes, but my friend isn't as outstanding as you," Sawyer continued.

This statement made the surrounding women visibly jealous.

Being flirted with by Sawyer, even if it meant dying, was the dream of many crazy fans.

But Caroline didn't want to be flirted with by Sawyer. She knew the more special Sawyer treated her, the more likely she would become a target. She didn't want to be the enemy of all the women in the crew.

If someone with ill intentions spread rumors about her and Sawyer online, she would face the wrath of all Sawyer's fans.

Caroline had no intention of provoking those fanatical fans. Their online power could destroy an artist's career.

So, Caroline didn't continue the conversation and turned to prepare for the shoot.

Sarah followed closely, cornering Caroline against the wall. "Spill it. How do you know Sawyer? How long have you known him? What's your relationship? How far have you gone? Have you held hands and had sex? How many times?"

Caroline was dumbfounded. She never knew Sarah had such a vivid imagination.

"With so many questions, which one should I answer first?" Caroline asked with a bitter smile.

"All of them!" Sarah uttered.

"Okay, calm down. I told you I know him. I owe him money, and he occasionally uses that to threaten me, and we hang out sometimes. That's it," Caroline explained innocently.

Sarah pressed, "When did you tell me that? What do you mean by hanging out?"

Caroline explained, "I told you, I have a friend named Tony who came back from abroad, and I went to pick him up. That's him."

Sarah asked, "Tony is Sawyer?"

Caroline nodded. "I'll say it again, Tony is Sawyer. Got it? As for hanging out, we just play games together."

"Games? What games?" Sarah was determined to get to the bottom of it.

At this moment, the assistant director came over to urge Caroline to change and get ready for the shoot.

"We'll talk later. I need to change," Caroline spoke.

Today's costume was quite loose, and since she wore a tank top underneath, she wasn't pricked by any hidden needles when she changed.

Caroline was very satisfied with her look.

Meanwhile, Roxanne was about to change when her assistant ran over and said, "Roxanne, William said you don't have any scenes today, so you don't need to change."

"What? I'm the female lead, and Sawyer is the male lead. It's his first day of shooting, of course, we have scenes together. How can I not have any scenes?" Roxanne exclaimed.
