Chapter 41

Harper then thought maybe Nathan was asexual. Like, he was only into himself and didn't want to get close to anyone, guy or girl.

Nathan was pretty shocked by Harper's theory.

Loving only himself was a no-go for him.

He figured he needed help.

So, he started going to therapy every week. Unless something super important came up, Nathan was always on time at Harper's clinic.

"I can't be sure," Nathan said.

"What do you mean 'not sure'? Is this person a guy or a girl?" Harper asked.

Nathan opened his eyes and said firmly, "It's a girl!"

"So, how do you feel about her?" Harper nodded.

Nathan's answer caught Harper off guard. "I like her scent."

"Did you two hook up?" Harper asked.

Nathan replied, "No."

Harper guessed, "So, you just stood next to her and liked her smell?"

Nathan nodded, "That's right."

"What kind of person is she?" Harper kept asking.

Nathan stayed quiet.

Harper thought for a bit. Describing someone took a lot of words.

Nathan was always a man of few words. How could anyone expect him to describe a woman in detail?

"How about I ask, and you answer?" Harper suggested.

"Okay," Nathan agreed.

"Is she beautiful?" Harper asked, then smiled to herself. Nathan wasn't even into stunning beauties. If this woman wasn't a knockout, it would be even harder to catch his eye.

Nathan's mind flashed to Caroline. He was surprised at how much she stuck in his mind.

"She's just average," Nathan replied.

Nathan had seen tons of pretty girls, and lots of beauties tried to get close to him. So, Caroline's looks were just average to him, definitely not the most beautiful.

Harper knew Nathan well. His "just average" was actually pretty high praise!

"When you saw her, did you want to sleep with her?" Harper asked bluntly.

Such questions were normal for a therapist, not creepy. Harper was cool with it. As a doctor, good communication was key to solving problems.

Nathan didn't answer right away.

He wasn't embarrassed by the question; he just didn't have a clear answer.

"I'm not sure," he said.

"It means you were moved. You were actually attracted to a woman! Congrats, you don't just love yourself anymore," Harper said happily.

Nathan opened his eyes, looking confused. "Really?"

"Of course. You haven't felt this way about anyone in years, right?" Harper replied.

Nathan stayed silent.

"Keep at it. Once you sleep with her, your 'illness' will be cured, and you'll be back to normal," Harper half-joked.

Nathan frowned slightly. Him, the head of Kennedy Corp, hooking up with an ordinary actress who had once disrespected him? It sounded too bizarre.

Just as Nathan was lost in thought, Harper exclaimed, "Oh, I almost forgot something important!"

Nathan snapped back to attention, looking at Harper to find out what it was.

Harper pulled out her phone from her bag. "Yesterday, a pair of twins had their home broken into by intruders. The two kids were scared out of their minds, and Rose referred them to me for counseling. Those kids were beautiful! And here's the kicker—they look a lot like you. If I didn't know better, I'd think they were your kids! I wanted to take a picture with them, but the boy wasn't having it, so I only got a shot of the girl."

Harper handed her phone to Nathan, showing him the photo.

Nathan was stunned. Wasn't this the child Roxanne had held? He was clearly a boy, how did he become a girl?

"A girl? Are you sure?" Nathan asked.

"Of course, I'm sure. The two kids look almost identical. The younger one is a girl, and the older one is a boy."

Nathan took a deep breath. He had thought only one child looked like him, but it turned out to be a pair of children!

"Who was with them?" Nathan got straight to the point.

He was eager to know whose kids these were, especially since they looked so much like him.

"A lady was with them," Harper replied.

"What did she look like?" Nathan pressed.

Harper answered, "She was pretty, dressed in a tomboyish style with short hair, a loose T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. She's a bit rough around the edges."

"And the man?" Nathan continued.

"There was no man. Besides, that lady didn't seem to be the mother. The kids called her Sarah," Harper added.

"Sarah?" Nathan repeated.

Harper responded, "Yes. The kids spoke clearly, so I caught the name."

Nathan fell into deep thought, then he asked, "Do you have the patient's records?"

"Yes, I saved that lady's contact info," Harper nodded.

Harper then instructed her assistant to pull up the case records on the computer and found the number.

"Are you going to call? Wouldn't that be a bit abrupt? After all, even though the kids look like you, you stay away from women. It's unlikely you have children. The kids probably have nothing to do with you," Harper reminded him.

Nathan wouldn't make a call so easily; he was Nathan, after all.

He pointed to the number and looked at Harper.

"You want me to call?" Harper asked.

Nathan nodded.

Harper laughed, "Yesterday, that boy didn't like to talk either, only nodding and shaking his head. When he got serious, he was like a mini version of you!"

Nathan didn't speak, just squinted his eyes and pointed at the phone again.

Harper knew that once Nathan made a decision, it couldn't be changed. If she didn't make the call, he wouldn't let it go. She had no choice but to dial the number. There was a lot of noise on the other end.

"Hello, who is this?" A woman's voice sounded.
