Chapter 122

"Little ones, where did Mommy go?" Roxanne continued to make small talk.

However, her efforts seemed futile as Ryan and Sophie completely ignored her.

No matter how much she rambled on, they still turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to her.

Even if she was shameless, she couldn't withstand the awkwardness brought on by their indifference.

But to get the information she wanted, she had to force herself to continue.

"Do you know Sawyer?" Roxanne asked persistently.

Ryan and Sophie exchanged glances again, remaining silent.

"Did you know him before?" Roxanne was still unwilling to give up.

But Ryan and Sophie completely ignored her questioning.

"Sweethearts, can you heal him? How is Sawyer now? Can he recover?" Roxanne changed her strategy.

"Not sure." Ryan finally spoke out of politeness.

"Wasn't his poison already cured? How did it worsen again?" Roxanne asked cautiously.

"Someone used Silvermoon Herb on him again," Ryan explained.

"That serious? If he uses it again, won't he be beyond saving? Silvermoon Herb is so potentthat overusing it is dangerous, let alone ingesting it?" Roxanne feigned surprise.

"Orally, a single drop can bring down a cow," Ryan said calmly.

"Is there really such a deadly poison in this world? It's unbelievable!" Roxanne exclaimed.

"You must be careful not to accidentally ingest it," Ryan warned.

"Yes, I'll be careful and won't make a mistake," Roxanne assured.

Ryan nodded slightly.

"Who poisoned Sawyer? Is someone trying to harm him?" Roxanne pressed.

"I don't know," Ryan shook his head.

"Didn't Nathan say who did it?" Roxanne continued to probe.

"He didn't mention it."

"Ryan, don't talk to her. Why say so much to her? She's a bad person!" Sophie finally couldn't help but interject.

Roxanne was seething with anger. Sophie had scared her with a snake during the day, and she wanted to teach Sophie a lesson herself!

But she still treated her gently on the surface. "Sweetie, I'm really not a bad person. When we get back to Silver Lake City, I'll treat you to some delicious food."

Usually a foodie, Sophie showed no interest in Roxanne's invitation at this moment.

"Mommy will take me to eat good food. Mommy, Daddy, and Nathan all have money!"

She implied that everyone around her was wealthy, so why would she care about Roxanne's invitation!

The conversation reached an impasse, so Roxanne awkwardly smiled and left the room.

In the darkness, a ruthless glint flashed in her eyes as she resolved to kill Ryan and Sophie, the very source of Caroline's arrogance.Once she lost her children, she would have nothing and no longer have any ties to the Rockefeller Family! Caroline wanted to achieve nobility through her children? Well, Roxanne would make sure she lost everything and see what Caroline had left to be proud of!

Roxanne arrived at Sawyer's cabin again. As soon as she entered, she smelled a foul odor.

Just as she was about to approach and check on Sawyer's condition, a figure suddenly emerged from the darkness, and a flashlight beam shone directly on her face, causing her to scream in fright.

"Roxanne? What are you doing here?" The question came from John, who Nathan had specifically arranged to take care of Sawyer to prevent any further mishaps.

"I'm here to check on Sawyer and see if his condition has improved," Roxanne appeared somewhat flustered.

"Do you always visit patients in the dark?" John questioned.

"What do you mean by that? There's no light here, and I didn't bring a flashlight."

Roxanne, sensing John's suspicion, decided to take the initiative.

As the head of the Kennedy Family's security team, John naturally knew that Roxanne was Nathan's nominal girlfriend. She was not someone to be offended.

But John wasn't just any sycophant; he carried the pride of a retired special forces soldier. Even if Roxanne was Nathan's girlfriend, he wouldn't hesitate to speak his mind and do what needed to be done.

"Sawyer was harmed today. Mr. Kennedy asked me to guard here. Anyone approaching Sawyer is a suspect," John said sternly.

"John, what do you mean? Are you suspecting me? Do you know who I am?"

John did not back down. "Of course, I know your identity, but I am following Mr. Kennedy's orders. No one is allowed to approach Sawyer."

"I just want to check on the patient. Is that not allowed?" Roxanne argued.

"You can, but it's pitch dark here. Do you have night vision?"

"So, you're still suspecting me?"

"Everyone here is a suspect except for the patient, and you are no exception!" John said impartially.

"John, you've got a lot of nerve. You're just a gatekeeper for the Kennedy Family, and I'm the future mistress of this family! You'll regret treating me like this one day!"

The term "gatekeeper" was clearly insulting, but John didn't mind and didn't retort.

"I only follow Mr. Kennedy's orders. Please cooperate and save your breath. My duty is to protect the Kennedy family, whether in Silver Lake City or here. Whether you become the mistress of the family is still uncertain, and even if you do, I'll still speak my mind. That's not my concern."

John's words indirectly indicated: You might not become the mistress of the Kennedy Family!

Roxanne was livid. Not only had the two kids disrespected her, but now even a servant dared to challenge her. She felt completely degraded.

"Remember what you said today. When I become the mistress of the Kennedy Family, the first person I'll fire is you!" Roxanne threatened.

John remained silent, offering only a smirk.

"I think the poison on Sawyer has something to do with you! You say you're guarding him, but who knows what your intentions are? I don't trust you, so I'm taking this potion with me!" As she spoke, Roxanne took the Silvermoon Herb potion from the side, and John did not stop her.

Walking out of the cabin, Roxanne's mind was filled with Ryan's words: just one drop of this potion could bring down a cow.

How could she get Ryan and Sophie to ingest this? Once they did, they would surely die, and Caroline would have nothing left!

But Ryan knew medicine, and the potion was made by him. Getting him to drink it himself was almost impossible.

Force it down? No, Ryan and Sophie were always together. If one got into trouble, the other would surely scream, and then the plan would be exposed. What would she do then?

The night passed peacefully.

The next day, Sawyer's condition seemed to have slightly improved. The pallid blue hue on his face had faded, and his delicate features appeared even more pale and almost ethereal, like a character straight out of a graphic novel.

Just as Caroline and her group were about to enjoy the first rays of morning sunlight and breakfast, Sophie's scream shattered the tranquility, "Sawyer is awake!"

Everyone rushed into the room at the sound, only to see Sawyer with his big, dazed eyes, nervously curled up in a corner, muttering, "Don't hit me!"

Everyone looked at each other in confusion. What was this? Was the best actor-level Sawyer improvising even in his sleep?

"Sawyer, are you in pain? Are you dizzy?" Ryan asked with concern.

Unexpectedly, Sawyer said, "Who are you? You look older than me!"

This statement left everyone present even more puzzled. Was he younger than Ryan?

Nathan asked sternly, "Sway, stop fooling around. Tell us where you feel uncomfortable."

Sawyer looked haughty. "I'm not uncomfortable. You're the one who's uncomfortable!"

Nathan was at a loss.

"Did Sawyer's brain get damaged?" Sophie blurted out.

In fact, Caroline had the same thought but didn't dare to say it. Children who dared to speak their minds were always so innocent.

"Sophie, don't talk nonsense!" Caroline quickly stopped her.

"I'm not. Look at him, he's acting like a child, even more childish than me!" Sophie shouted defiantly.

Roxanne, who had initially feared that Sawyer waking up would be detrimental to her, felt a sense of relief seeing that Sawyer's mind seemed to have regressed to that of a child.

"Sway, I'm Roxanne from the crew. Do you remember me?" Roxanne squeezed forward, pretending to ask with concern.
