Chapter 13
Nathan paused for a sec. Caroline was kinda delicate but drop-dead gorgeous. Her eyes were like, super clear and full of life.
The entertainment company under Kennedy Corp was the biggest deal in Aurora City.
So, he'd met a ton of actresses. Some were big-time stars, even award winners. But none of their eyes had that same vibe as hers.
Her gaze was pure, with a touch of world-weariness, and sometimes, a bit of that mysterious allure. It was like her eyes were telling the whole story of life's ups and downs.
Nathan spun around and plopped back into his seat. Everyone was shocked he actually came back. Not only did he not get mad at the chick for bumping into him, but he also wanted to give her a shot.
"Nathan, if you've got stuff to do, just go. Why waste time on her..." Roxanne started, but Nathan's icy stare shut her up real quick.
Everyone outside thought she was Nathan's girl and treated her with respect. But Roxanne knew exactly how much she meant to him.
Seeing this, William quickly announced, "Alright, let's do a scene where the lead and the second lead reunite after a long time. This is where Victoria Spencer comes back from abroad, finds out her mom died, and confronts Elodie Spencer."
"Mr. Smith, I'm not feeling great. I can't act with her." Roxanne despised Caroline but couldn't lose her cool now. She was about to lose it from holding back and definitely didn't want to act with Caroline and help her shine.
Plus, Caroline was prettier than her. She didn't want to be outshone by Caroline in front of Nathan.
William didn't want to piss off Roxanne. "Then you can do a solo scene."
Without a scene partner, Caroline had to act to thin air, making it way harder.
And William didn't give her any prep time, just told her to start right away in front of the camera.
Caroline lowered her head, and when she looked up again, everyone was floored.
Her whole vibe changed in an instant. She wasn't the girl fighting for her chance anymore; she was a kid who just lost her mom, with sorrow in her eyes.
Caroline delivered her lines to the empty space, but no one thought it was weird or funny. They were moved by her performance, feeling the deep sadness.
Nathan watched Caroline in the scene, feeling all sorts of things. It had been ages since he'd seen such a talented actress. She seemed super into the role, or maybe she'd been through something similar. His mind was racing, but his face didn't show it.
Roxanne, watching from the side, was fuming. She wondered when Caroline had gotten so good. She glanced at Nathan, who was clearly watching with interest, not the half-hearted way he watched her perform. Roxanne clenched her fist until it turned red and suddenly had a wicked idea. Nathan hated women who used seduction to get what they wanted. Thinking of this, she flashed a sinister smile.
