Chapter 188

After several hours of bumpy travel, they finally arrived at the remote Willowbrook Hills.

After exiting the highway, the local cars were already waiting there. Nathan got out first and shook hands with the local leaders who had come to greet them. Meanwhile, Caroline's car continued forward; their destination was an even more remote village in this area.

The waiting press corps from the county also joined the convoy. Major entertainment media from Aurora City had arrived, and they began taking various photos and reporting on the event's progress. Caroline suddenly became nervous.

At this moment, Sarah called and asked Caroline to wait for her. Sarah had also come along but had been riding in another staff member's car and now needed to join Caroline. After a few minutes, Sarah's car arrived.

Sarah switched to Caroline's car, looking particularly excited. "Wow, so many reporters! I heard there are even more waiting! I've never seen so many reporters!"

"What's so exciting about this? They write and photograph recklessly. I'm scared of reporters now," Caroline said with a frown.

"You're wrong. Reporters and celebrities have a mutually beneficial relationship. If you want to stay in the spotlight, you need plenty of exposure. Reporters need good stories to succeed," Sarah replied.

Sarah made some sense, but the quality of reporters varied greatly. Some reporters had no bottom line for news, even sneaking into morgues to photograph corpses of deceased female stars. Such behavior was simply incomprehensible. So Caroline was really afraid of reporters, feeling she couldn't handle them.

"Doesn't having so many reporters today mean you have a chance for positive exposure? Shouldn't you be happy?" Sarah asked.

"I've been cursed out online so badly; do I still need exposure?" Caroline retorted.

"That's different. Before, it was passive and negative exposure. This time it's positive, and you can appear in headlines alongside top stars like Sawyer. How important is that!" Sarah said excitedly.

"Alright, it's very important," Caroline said listlessly.

"Why are you so indifferent?" Sarah frowned.

"You're not the first to think I'm indifferent," Caroline smiled.

"Not joking with you; let's talk business. Sawyer's team has told me that we need to cooperate with him throughout today."

"Of course, I will." Caroline nodded.

"That means, when reporters ask questions, you should answer as much as possible, letting Sawyer speak less because his throat is uncomfortable and he can't talk much," Sarah said.

Caroline understood that Sawyer's throat wasn't uncomfortable; he had a stutter.

"Got it," Caroline nodded.

"Look at this, these are the questions reporters might ask today. Memorize the answers," Sarah handed over two printed pages.

"You even know what questions the reporters will ask?" Caroline was surprised.

"Yes, the reporters coming today are arranged, and the question range is here. If they go beyond this range, just stay silent."

"Silent resistance? Isn't that rude?"

"This is our agreement with them. If they ask for anything beyond that, simply don't answer. It's not rude. The less we say, the fewer mistakes we make."

"Got it, the entertainment industry really has its tricks."

"Good, now start familiarizing yourself with these questions. Remember, no matter how intense the questions are, keep smiling. There are many cameras on you."

"Got it, I'll try my best."

"You must do it. Cherish this opportunity."

"Got it, don't nag, I'm reading these."

Over an hour later, they finally arrived at their destination, Maple Leaf Elementary School. This was the most remote place in the area, with only one school for all grades.

The school was very old, with construction going on around it. This was funded by Sawyer's donation to build new teaching buildings and dormitories. The students were already lined up on the playground, welcoming the guests from Aurora City. Caroline was also one of the main guests today because she had donated five million dollars for the school's infrastructure. Although the money was donated by the Kennedy Corp on her behalf, it left her heavily in debt. But seeing the students, Caroline felt it was all worth it.

"Welcome Sawyer and Demi! Thank you for visiting us!" Hundreds of students shouted in unison, and Caroline's travel fatigue instantly disappeared, her eyes moistening.

This world wasn't just driven by material desires; there was also genuine giving and gratitude. Caroline suddenly understood the pride Nathan felt when he talked about charity. The act of helping others brought an indescribable joy.

Seeing Sawyer waving to the students, Caroline didn't react at first. Until Sarah nudged her, she realized she should wave too. The accompanying reporters recorded the moment.

Sawyer walked to the center of the playground, high-fiving the lined-up students. Caroline followed suit, something she had never done before as she had never been a big star. She found the interaction quite fun, looking at the youthful faces of the students, she felt like she was back in her teenage years.

Ten minutes later, photos and videos of Caroline and Sawyer visiting the students were already going viral online, receiving widespread praise.

Next, Caroline and Sawyer had to give a simple speech. Sawyer, due to his "throat discomfort," only gave a brief greeting, leaving the speech to Caroline. Caroline was very nervous, but Sarah told her to imagine the children as Ryan and Sophie and just speak like that.

Caroline was no longer nervous and delivered the speech fluently, earning a round of applause. Nathan watched the video sent by the staff ahead, a slight smile on his lips. She might be annoying, but she actually has the potential to be a big star!
