Chapter 193
William panicked, afraid she would anger Nathan and cause trouble for him. So he shouted, "Let's shoot your scene first; no need to drag it out late! Skip dinner for now, let's shoot!"
Just then, the lunchbox delivery arrived.
After a busy day, everyone was starving. When they heard William say to skip dinner, no one said a word, but everyone was holding back a sense of dissatisfaction.
"We still need to eat first, and I'm hungry too. We need to be full to have the energy to shoot," Caroline responded loudly.
"Alright, let's eat then. We'll shoot after eating," William had no choice but to change his mind.
Caroline took two lunchboxes and walked outside, where she indeed saw Nathan's car. He was sitting inside, staring at his tablet, handling emails.
"You really don't have to wait for me. If you have something to say, just say it here. I won't go eat," Caroline told him.
"It's fine, I can wait. I'm working in the car," Nathan didn't even look up.
"It'll be very late."
"No problem." Nathan still didn't look up.
"Then at least have a bite. My treat," Caroline handed over a boxed meal.
Nathan looked up at her, put down his tablet, and took the meal. Actually, the meal looked pretty good, with a balanced mix of meat and vegetables, and it tasted good too. But Nathan rarely ate this kind of food because it always made his stomach uncomfortable. His assistant and personal doctor also strictly forbade him from eating randomly.
"Disgusted? Then don't eat it; don't force yourself," Caroline noticed his hesitation.
Nathan glanced at Caroline, then lowered his head and took a bite. It actually tasted pretty good.
Caroline squatted by the car to eat, and Nathan mimicked her posture and squatted down too.
The two of them ate in silence, not saying a word. Caroline glanced at Nathan, seeing him in his expensive suit, looking elegant, yet squatting on the ground eating the lunchbox like her, she found it quite amusing. Nathan could be fun sometimes, but most of the time he was just annoying.
"So, what do you want to talk to me about?" Caroline asked.
"Nothing," Nathan replied.
"Then why are you here? You just disrupt our work. And William acts like he's walking on eggshells around you, afraid of making you unhappy."
Her words were too blunt, and Nathan frowned.
"Your presence does affect our work schedule. Even though you're the boss, coming here often disrupts the work atmosphere, which isn't good for a boss."
"I'm not here every day!" Nathan finally retorted, unable to hold back.
"You want to come every day? If you did, the girls in our crew would go crazy! How could they work in peace?" Caroline shouted.
Nathan stopped and looked at Caroline.
"Am I wrong? Why are you glaring at me? Keep eating your meal," Caroline didn't back down.
Nathan was furious. She really got bold with a little bit of kindness. Caroline felt good saying it, but she knew she was a bit over the line.
"Anyway, your presence does affect our work, same with Nick."
Just then, a red sports car drove up. It was Nick who got out.
The scene left Nick dumbfounded. He saw his brother squatting on the ground eating a boxed meal, which was a rare sight.
"Nathan," Nick finally managed to say.
"What are you doing here?" Nathan asked.
Nick was stunned for a moment, thinking that should be his question. He was a well-known playboy, so it was normal for him to show up here, but Nathan, as the head of the Kennedy Corp, eating a boxed meal here was something else.
"I came to see Caroline, planning to take her out for dinner," Nick answered honestly.
Nathan wanted to say he was also here for Caroline, but he couldn't get the words out.
"Then you guys talk," Nathan stood up and walked to the trash can, throwing away the rest of the meal.
Caroline looked at Nick, then at Nathan, and continued eating. The scene was somewhat awkward.
"Is it good?" Nick suddenly asked.
"It's okay," Caroline replied.
"Get me one too," Nick said.
Caroline was stunned. "They deliver based on the number of people, so there are no extras."
"Then how did Nathan get one?"
"Sometimes there are one or two extra, but not more."
"Then call and have them send another one."
Caroline was a bit annoyed. "Stop it, I need to get back to work; William is still waiting."
Caroline threw her meal into the trash can and took out a napkin to wipe her mouth.
"Then I won't eat; I'll watch you act," Nick followed her.
"No, you two brothers showing up disrupts our work. Stop causing trouble, okay?"
"I'll just watch."
"No, go stand over there."
Nathan watched Caroline being so unkind to Nick, feeling a mix of emotions. She was really domineering. Nick showed up, and she dared to scold him too. Were the Kennedy family members really this easygoing? But it didn't seem right for the two of them to gang up on a woman either.
It was really troubling.
