Chapter 103 You Won't Understand

"Evelyn, are you a mad dog? What exactly do you want?" As soon as the phone was answered, Liam's roar echoed.

Fortunately, Evelyn had foresight and held the phone away from her ear.

Facing Liam's scolding, Evelyn remained calm, just coldly retorting, "Mr. Scott, only a mad dog like you would attack innocent people.. Unlike you, my target is clear, and it is you!"

"You..." Liam took a deep breath, swearing that if she were in front of him now, he would tear her to pieces. "Evelyn, I know what you mean. Laura can't be your dog. Are you trying to retaliate against me because you're unhappy?"

"You understand well. Also, could you stop calling others dogs all the time? Dogs, as sentient beings, are much more sensible than you." Evelyn's words were blunt, her face stern.

Liam could insult her all he wanted, but insulting Laura was off-limits!

Sensing her coldness, Samuel opened his arms and embraced her, using his body heat to warm her.

Evelyn relaxed her body, leaning softly against him, feeling she had the strongest support.

"Alright, I won't argue with you. But do you think you can make me yield like this? Evelyn, don't forget. Although leaking the formula affects Liavian Perfumes, I can sue you for leaking trade secrets, and you'll have to compensate Liavian Perfumes for the losses! You think you are smart, but in the end, you'll pay for your mistakes! You're acting foolish!"

Initially, Liam was with Vivian, planning wedding matters. Unexpectedly, late at night, shareholders called, questioning him about the leaked formulas of several popular products online, which had a significant impact on the company.

Liam was dumbfounded. After checking online, he was almost certain that only one person could have done this—Evelyn!

Furious, he realized that by leaking this information, Evelyn was exposing trade secrets and would have to face consequences.

"Trade secrets?" Evelyn sneered, "Mr. Scott, perhaps you've forgotten that I had never signed any labor contract with Liavian Perfumes. Whether there's an employment relationship is debatable, so how can we talk about leaking trade secrets? Besides, how could Liavian Perfumes, with such important information, let someone insignificant like me get hold of it?"

"Mr. Scott, with your capabilities, Liavian Perfumes' perfume formulas should be well-protected. How could you be so careless as to leak them? Oh, I remember those formulas all came from Ms. Reed's hands. Maybe Ms. Reed isn't satisfied with how you treat her and wants to switch jobs."

"Don't talk nonsense! Vivian is not like you; Vivian would never betray me!" Liam retorted, "Just because you deny it doesn't mean it's over. Where did these accounts and posts come from? I can have IPs checked. Don't think for a second that I can't trace them back to you."

"Let's not discuss whether those accounts are mine. Even if they are, the real issue is what evidence do you have that I would get hold of such crucial trade secrets of Liavian Perfumes?"

Evelyn paused, not waiting for Liam to speak, already losing patience and sitting up straight. "Mr. Scott, let me kindly remind you. I may not know everything about you, but I've known you for so many years, I'm not ignorant either."

"It was so romantic when you traveled abroad with Vivian, giving her various gifts, but were those money truly yours? If Liavian Perfumes' shareholders knew you were misappropriating funds and falsifying accounts to win a woman's favor, how do you think they would react?"

Evelyn's lips still carried a smile, but every word was chilling, and the cold light in her eyes sent shivers down the spine.

For the first time, Samuel found that the angry Evelyn was quite... heart-wrenching.

After being together for so long, it seemed like the first time he had seen her this angry. Even though she was holding back, the anger was bursting out of every pore.

"You... you're slandering me!" After a moment of confusion, Liam regained his composure.

Liam felt a chill all over, his back covered in cold sweat. His mind was blank; he had no idea how Evelyn knew these things.

How could this be?

He hadn't told anyone about this, not even Vivian. Evelyn used to act like a fool, only dealing with her experimental data. How could she know these things?

He wagered that she was just bluffing.

"Don't think you can spread rumors just because you have a sharp tongue. Where's the evidence? If you dare spread any rumors, I can sue you for defamation!"

"Liam, is the courthouse only for you? Don't threaten lawsuits left and right. Filing a suit and then withdrawing it, you're wasting my time and energy. Don't push me! If one day I sue you, I won't let you win, nor will I give you a chance to reconcile!"

"If I had no evidence, do you think I would tell you these things? Spare me!"

Liam finally fell silent.

He was trembling in fear. If shareholders found out about these matters, his position would be at risk. If they withdrew their investments, Liavian Perfumes would be finished, and so would he!

Only now did he realize how terrifying this woman was! Despite knowing her for five years, dating her for three, and working hard with her for three years, he had never truly understood her.

Liam's palms were sweaty, and he swallowed hard. "Alright, let's stop arguing. What do you want?"

"Don't you know?" Evelyn said coldly.

"Just for a Laura?" Liam was puzzled. "Does she have something on you? Is that why you're fighting for her?"

"You will never understand," she said lightly, "As you know, I am impatient. Don't make me wait too long!"

After speaking, she hung up the phone.

Watching her straight back, Samuel embraced her from behind, gently resting against her shoulder and softly saying, "Actually, you don't need to handle this personally. Let me take care of it; there's no need for so much talk with him."

Evelyn turned around and hugged him back. "I know you're of significant capabilities, but I want to handle this myself. I caused the trouble, and I'll deal with it. I should take the responsibility of protecting my friend!"

"Listening to this, I'm somewhat envious," Stepping back slightly, Samuel smiled at her, "I wonder if I'm lucky enough to have Mrs. Whitman protect me?"

Samuel's serious demeanor made Evelyn smile, and she was quite proud as she said, "Of course!"
