Chapter 74 Are You Hiding a Secret Lover?

In the midst of this tender moment, Evelyn's phone suddenly rang.

Groggily fumbling for her phone, she answered vaguely, "Hello?"

"Evelyn, I have returned. I am going downstairs to buy some food. Would you like anything to eat?" Came Cathy's voice from the other end of the phone.

Instantly, Evelyn became fully awake and quickly pushed Samuel away, sitting up. "No, no, I'm not hungry."

"Have you already drifted off to sleep? I will be there shortly."

"Okay!" She hung up the phone, suddenly realizing the situation, and hurriedly got up, pushing Samuel. "Hurry up! Cathy is coming back! You need to leave! Don't let her find out!"

She busied herself with straightening her clothes and handing him his jacket, only to notice that he was sitting there motionless, his face darkened.

"Alright, I know I owe you today, but there's no other way. You know we can't go public with our relationship right now. Besides, Cathy knows you!" She coaxed him softly. After all, he was Samuel.

Samuel snorted through his nose, "Everyone knows me."

Evelyn was speechless.

Well, he was acting all high and mighty!

"Yes, the whole world knows you. You are Samuel, the influential Mr. Whitman, the big boss. But right now, could you please hide for a bit and endure a little?"

She comforted him while feeling a bit anxious.

Cathy said she was almost there, which probably meant she was buying something nearby. Since Evelyn had said she didn't need anything, Cathy would likely come up even faster.

If she had known, she would have asked Cathy to purchase something to buy them more time.

She wanted to urge him but didn't dare push too hard, fearing it would anger him.

Samuel glared unhappily at her, rising to drape his coat over his arm before she tugged him towards the doorway. "You should take a moment to cool off, and we will reconnect later! By the way, you must have booked a room in this hotel as well. Share the room number with me, and I'll come find you when I have a moment!"

Evelyn thought that since he was here, given his style, he must have booked a room in the same hotel. This way, it would be convenient to meet without much hassle.

Hearing her say this, Samuel's expression softened a bit. "You promise!"

"Yes, I promise!"

"Come find me!"

"Yes, definitely."

"Comfort me." He bent down, pointing to his cheek.

Evelyn felt helpless. This man, at times, behaved like a child who asked for sweets, needing to be coddled and pampered. She was both exasperated and amused, standing on tiptoe, ready to place a kiss on his cheek. However, just as she was about to make contact, he suddenly turned his head, swiftly pecking her lips, then straightening up and tousling her hair. "I must be off!"

"Okay." She instinctively raised her hand to cover her lips, her heart pounding.

She watched him as he was waiting for the elevator, waving at him as he entered. The door closed, and just then, the adjacent elevator arrived. The door opened, and Cathy walked out.

Cathy immediately saw her and walked over with open arms. "Hey, were you waiting for me?"

Evelyn's heart almost skipped a beat. They had nearly run into each other. Her smile was a bit forced. "Yes!"

Seeing the stiff smile on her face, Cathy stood in front of her, tilting her head and looking her up and down. "Something's fishy!"

"There's nothing fishy. You said you were almost here. I thought I'd get up and open the door for you. Look, I timed it perfectly!" She babbled on to cover her slightly panicked feelings.

She took the things from Cathy's hands and turned to walk into the room. "What tasty food did you pick up?"

"None for you!" Cathy said.

"Don't be so stingy!" She placed the items on the table and opened them. There were snacks and bread that smelled delicious but with many unfamiliar items.

However, Cathy could not eat all of this by herself. It was evident that she was just being tough on the outside but soft on the inside.

"It was you who said you didn't need it. You can't regret it now!" Cathy exclaimed, attempting to snatch the fork from her hand, only to be evaded as she continued to taste the food, simultaneously expressing her disdain, "Have you washed your hands yet? Hurry up and go wash them."

"Don't sneak a bite of mine!" Cathy reminded her before going to wash her hands.

Evelyn set the chairs properly, then took out the items one by one and opened the lids.

After everything was set, Cathy came back from washing her hands. "I didn't eat much at the tasting event. These wine parties are actually the most boring. Street food is much better."

"Yeah, what did you buy? I don't think I've seen these before," Evelyn asked.

"I don't really know either. The vendor recommended some local specialties. You said you wouldn't eat them," Cathy said disdainfully, tapping her fork.

"I couldn't resist your enthusiasm! You're so passionate. I have to show you some respect, right?" Evelyn said with a grin, diligently handing her some food.

"Don't bother!" Cathy said it ,but she didn't mean it. The two chatted while eating, and despite so much food, they ended up finishing most of it.

Patting her stomach, Cathy groaned, "I can't take it anymore. I'm too full! I need to take a shower. You clean it up."

"Alright!" Evelyn agreed without hesitation, "You go ahead."

"Okay." Cathy nodded and walked towards the bathroom. After taking a few steps, she seemed to remember something and turned back. "Wait a minute."

"What's wrong?" Evelyn asked, blinking in confusion.

"Were you sleeping before I came back?" Cathy scrutinized her with a suspicious look.

Evelyn answered, "Yeah."

This matter had been put to rest. Why was she bringing it up now?

"When you sleep, don't you change clothes or take a shower? You've been back for so long and haven't showered yet?" Cathy stepped closer, her eyes scanning Evelyn up and down.

Instinctively covering her chest, Evelyn thought, 'Oh no!'

She had forgotten she was still wearing the clothes from the event. As soon as she got to the door, Samuel hugged her, and then the two of them...

Who had time to shower or change clothes?

"I..."

"What were you doing before I came back? Were you having fun with a secret lover?" Cathy teased, pointing a finger at her.

Though it was a joke, Evelyn couldn't help but feel her heart race. "What nonsense are you talking about? I'm new here and don't know anyone. I was just too tired and fell asleep on the couch. There's nothing like what you're thinking!"
